    The dividing line between P bass split coils is BEAD harmonics working across the strings (from E to G) which would have been Leo Fender's decision. If you position a P bass pickup anywhere other than at this precise alignment it won't give you "that" classic sound. On a Musicman the stock pickup is far enough away from the bridge to make that authentic combination look untidy, so the P pickup has to move further towards the neck.

    Hey man, great job!
    Little tip - make sure to isolate the pots from the cavity - I did similiar shielding and mine pot turned a little when used during playing and the signal went gone - A piece of insulation tape does the job! :)

    I'm planning to do same job, but with Claypool's signature pick up, but I have no idea how to do that. Now my bass is stock, with 2 band eq.

    Great Video - Thanks so much for sharing what you did and the results. Personally, I'm not real familiar with all the electronics as far as what you did in wiring it, and that piece that you wired in to the bass control at the 3:17 mark.. what is it and what does it do? I have the same bass, and have thought about doing what you have done, and I love the results from what I hear on yours. It would be Great if you could redo the video, but explain what you're doing and how you do it all the way through. What is the purpose of the aluminum (?) tape? Where did you get the material for the new pick guard? Thanks again.

      Hi Thank You for the comment.
      at 3:17 you can follow the wiring diagram drive.google.com/open?id=1zNQ4R7gpDRq6XB-Ks3-hh_xHkHZR1Fyc , from this guide i'm using capacitor Vishay Cera-Mite .05u.
      I'm using aluminum tape to make more grounding system (ground is the reference point in an electrical circuit). Has no effect on tone, only reduces noise (when your finger not touching strings). You can find ground wire on bridge bass just make sure following wiring diagram.
      No need new pick guard i just using the old one, and You can find aluminum tape on hardware retail :)

    Nicely done. The P pickup alone seems much weaker than the MM pickup. Height maybe?

      @MusicCoverage  Год назад +1

      Helo, i'm not sure, Ray34 have four knob. i suggest you find wiring diagram that similar. overall is same if you want to add P-Bass, Active (from output pickup go to 9 volt battery). negative battery to ground jack output and positive battery to both pickup

    I have been looking for this pick up combination!! I've been wanting this setup, with a maple jazz neck, is it easier to put P's in music man, or can you get a 5 string fender and drop MM's in? Didnt know if there was a particular reason you went w the stingray instead? @music_coverage
