In my experiences, a lot of these RUclips segments are either tired, too fancy (for kids) or someone trying too hard to reinvent the wheel just so they can call the tip "theirs" - this is one of the best videos I've seen yet. The teaching he offers on the fadeaway is extremely important (release point & follow thru) & will either be overlooked or not known by many basketball tipsters. Well done -- I am refreshed that you have the "feel" of an elite basketball camp. I went to many, many camps from local & regional to Coach Smith's Carolina Basketball School to "invitation only" camps before finally playing in college - I then helped out by coaching at camps / clinics...this video is highly recommended for those wanting more tools in your belt. **NOTE** - these moves ARE NOT for the post players only. These moves are for driving & scoring guards, guards who post up defenders, or people who play in offenses that could receive the ball in these spots (flex, motion, etc.).
Nice video brotha. I wanted to improve my game since I'm a power forward/center and I could barely make a shot from the paint. With these simple lethal moves, Im positive this will improve my game. 😎🤘🏾
Hi coach my name is LJ seems you have a lot of haters attended your videos. I guess the haters are the ones that don't see the point or probably never played. I like your videos they help out a lot and they also help out with your basics or take you back to the basics. So keep put videos out they're helping someone. Can you put out a defensive video like the points to watch for Center Mass is what I was always told the sternum area or whichever hand the Handler is you try to put your face or head on the line of your armpit. And I think a defense of video would be great for today's game. Since no one seen to play it or know how to guard a ball-handler.
hi coach you have helped me improve because i just started playing basketball 1 year ago. i didnt know anything and you helped me improve now im one of the best players on my team Thanks to you! I even told people about your channel
Causes of a flat step-back-fade shot: In order to add power and most of your kinetic chain to the floor being literally taken out from under you, people with weaker upper bodies especially will have to cheat more to get the power they need from their shot. These kinetic compromises will get you more power, but lower your arc, and therefore mandate a faster throw (meaning bouncing off the rim will not only happen more often, but the bounces will be higher also). The kinetic compromises to look for are these 1. Shoulders forward: Throwing your shoulders farther forward will give you more power... but at high cost. First of all, this will lower your arc, second it will make your release time longer (therefore you're easier to block). It will lower your release point, and lastly, since you're already stepping back, your shoulders are already staggered... pushing them forward will put uneven pressure on your stroke (since one shoulder presses into your chest, but the other one is basically unobstructive. 2. Head forward: Most people will also naturally keep their head forward. Doing this will not only encourage you moving your shoulders forward (bad for the reasons above) but it will also encourage a bend at the buttocks, knees, and curve of the back (which all take power out of your shot... and encourage cheated form such as shoulders forward) 3. Jumping too high/far on the fade. The harder you jump away from your shot, the more power your stroke has to compensate for... and will therefore encourage poor form. Try getting away with more of a fall-back shot at first where you just lean back until you are about to need to bring back a foot for balance to catch yourself, and that is about the point where you should hop. Fading away is to help keep the defender from swatting you, but you also have to keep the shot reliable. You have to know your limits before you take the shot... and you have to trust your decision. If you have a little space or your defender is on their heels... a little fade goes a long way. If your defender is in your face and you think you have to fade a long way to get the shot off... you should be either using other tactics to gain space or passing to a teammate. So... when learning a step-back-fade shot (similar to a Dirk special) keep these 4 keys in mind in order to ensure a consistent and high arcing shot. 1. Shoulders back 2. head back 3. back straight 4. small hop If this causes your shot to be drastically short, you need to A: get some upper body strength B:only use this shot closer to the basket If this causes your shot to be... just generally off, that's natural. It's a whole new form and it can take some time until you develop the muscle memory.
@Kevin Huang hold on a minute, i lost u there. whos fake superstar, who' traveling. who cheats and lie? im just saying dirk move is effective that kobe, KD picked it up. travel? show me that dirk is consistently traveling on that move. If you are saying Dirk is not a superstar at his prime u r dumb. Dirk are true and true champion where he did not transfer team to win a championship. Dirk use this move in international events where dirk not called for traveling. so where are your basis? just because i dont agree with you. doesnt mean i lie and cheat. so keep your slander to yourself
@Kevin Huang lol i like how u dont have basis, or facts resort to slander. who are the " no name " that tried to pull out "dirk one legged move and called for ? oh maybe its your gym mates. no point arguing with u cos you dont even back your arguments with points. go back to your sorry pathetic life. dirk are allowed because its legal PERIOD.
this is footwork for guards in the post. centres ripping the ball are asking for turnovers. centres want to keep the ball out of the hands of little guys. also, the moves seen simple. when you make the move... watch the pivot. traveling is really easily made... as can be seen in this video. dont hop out of the jab, it is quicker and easier. and illegal
helped alot, i'm a 12 year old with offers from high schools and this really helped me. even the best player can improve remember that if you're reading this
Love the one legged fade away bc I'm tall and skinny with a long wing span. This way I don't have to bully my way in and can get an easy unstoppable bucket
I'm 67 and still full court hoopin'....after three hip replacements. Not sure I have it in me for a one-legged fade-away, but I may have enough time against the guys I play with, many of who are younger, some older. Thanks very much!
Can you create a midrange (game) video that looks at some of the important aspects such as; Footwork Spacing And how to position yourself. Thanks a ton for the videos I usually play guard/ point forward these post moves are sure to open up my game haha. God willing
PrzemekC if ur guarding a big man just stay low and have a strong base instead of trying to block otherwise he could just push u and get that layup/dunk. It's better for a big man to shoot instead of getting an easy layup/dunk
Peter Lim I'm more interested in some tips for the opposite side. I'm sort of a big man (for our local street ball standards ;)), and when I often play 1v1 with my buddy, who is extremely fast (typical point guard) I struggle a lot ;)
Coach, i use to have a perfect stroke when shooting 3s. But now i notice i always end up shooting to high and it ends up in a airball. All the mechanics exactly the same. Im guessing is it just the release point where it screws me up?
2nd one you can use the pivot, rip fake, one hand dribble left and cross over and it's a simple layup from the right or left side, not straight on. It's and easier shot than straight on.
nice video, but in my country we play with FIBA rules, and that first dribble is called travelling when you lift your pivot foot before the basketball touches the floor
Thank you this helps a lot This year in my team I’m play a center position But usually I drive finsh or shoot My coach doesn’t let me dribble and shoot only passes and screams or post are allowed what then I have change my whole play style...

I've been depressed recently as I've been missing jump shots from inside the paint. I can't get my set point down and I lost my palm roatation and my power. Please help me.

probably because he said "simple"
