    Love Helikon-Tex I've been wearing their gear for years and it's brilliantly designed and hard-wearing. I've owned the Pilgrim for two years and for me it's the ultimate outdoor smock for durability, pocket placement, put zips, etc. I own a green, black and coyote and I wear them all year round with layers. Top kit. Errrr happy birthday descendent of gobblers lol.

      Yes, they have hit the sweet spot for value for money and features that people actual like in their gear. All the best

    I've had my pilgrim anorak for 2 years or so now and I still really enjoy wearing it. Worth noting that despite being the 'heavyweight' of the range, it has so many ventilation zips and mesh-lined pockets that it can easily and comfortably be worn in 20+ degrees. Perfect for working around camp or going for a walk on a summer evening.

      It's surprising how warm it is but also how cool you can get if needed. Great design

    Thank you very much for this comparison!
    I am thinking of buying either the SAS Smock or the Pilgrim Anorak, but I have not decided so far.
    For me, the best jacket would be the SAS with some pockets from the Pilgrim. The mesh, as you mentioned, under the armpits, the biceps pockets and a passthrough pocket on the back (like on patriot mk1) would make a no-brainer-take-my-money-jacket for my needs and liking.
    Greetz from germany.
    And: belatedly happy birthday, sir

      Fellow german here. The M2 Parka from ufpro has this. But it is way more extensive.

      Glad it was helpful! I agree. The SAS Smock is really nice however feels more like a civilian smock at times. I wonder if there was a conversation there about features and they scales some back to make it accessible to more people. I recently made some content on the L4 Recon Smock from Varusteleka and that ticks all of the boxes, however you're paying a wee bit more for that
      Thank you for the birthday wishes. Greeting from across the sea

      I love the look of the M2 Parka... but that price is definitely a hurdle. I'd have to use my whole months RUclips budget on that one jacket. I love the hood harness they have. I 😆can't see why more companies don't have a similar things in their outdoors clothing
      Hmmmmm... maybe I need to start squirrelling away some pennies

    Great reviews. I have the Woodsman and it's great. The biggest improvement I'd like to see in all of these items that have hoods is the abilty to either roll up and secure the hood or be able to secrure it down flat. I'm sure they could add a piece of velcro or a snap to be able to do this. I'm going to add some velcro so that I can lay the hood down flat and keep it there vs it flapping around all the time.

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  2 месяца назад

      That would be a pretty nice update to it. Helikon-Tex have recently gone through a phase of updating some models. Fingers crossed the Woodsman is part of that programme. Thanks for watching 🤘

    Evening, enjoyed the content and as you said maybe to have included the Mistral would have been a better choice. My only gripe is the SAS Smock I don’t think is available at Military 1st. Since March 23 and watching the show in Germany (that I don’t remember the name of) ,where it was introduced , I have tried to purchase one. In the end I have bought the M65 Covert Jacket and the Woodsman Anorak. Very happy with both by the way. The M65 Covert has the zipped end sleeve pocket - that could be a suggested improvement for the SAS Smock. I’m intrigued to see the other two contents / episodes you recorded today - you had a different beanie on today. It looked like it had little wings on it … Hope you had a good birthday weekend and plenty of inappropriate liquid celebrations. Bye for now

    • @MoorlanderEDC

      Beanie content will be landing very soon
      The Covert M65 and Woodsman combo is a great choice. Perfect for so many occasion. Yes, I'll be back in Germany in March for IWA2024. Hopefully looking at lines that will be out this year and beyond. Hopefully also getting my face in with the other brand to help expand the channel and grow... plus a jolly away for the weekend in Nuremberg is just what the Doctor ordered 😆

    I’m hoping eventually for an SAS Smock 2.0 that has bicep pockets, morale patch space, and a rear pocket on the small of the back (maybe even some inside pockets). It seems to me to be more similar to the M65 Covert rather than the anorak style Woodsman and Pilgrim.

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  4 месяца назад

      Agreed. It's a strange middle ground between the two anoraks

    Is there a button or something to secure the hood back on the Helikon-Tex SAS Smock when not needed like on the British army smocks? Or does just flop forward around your face when you reach towards the ground

    • @impermanenthuman8427
      @impermanenthuman8427 3 месяца назад +1

      Or can you use the cinch cord on the back of the hood to tighten the hood up so it stays back behind your head rather than dropping forward?
      (My work involves a lot of repetitive lifting and crouching etc)

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  3 месяца назад +2

      No, it's pretty floppy (that's what she said 😂)

      There is some adjustment in the sides to keep it closer to your head

    Facial Pubes..? Now what would those farmers shoveling excrement would be thinking if they saw some strange person keep changing clothes in the woods and talking to himself.?? Always informative and entertaining to the end. We like the Pilgrim Anorak. Gobblers Knob.? Please explain. So you "people" whom are responsible for the creation of "Australian" by deporting your criminals to The Land Down Under. Happy 21st Birthday matey. Stay safe. Stay Moorlander. Stay You.!

      It's part of the Ground hog day celebrations in the US. The Groundhog day film is real and there's a famous event in a small town called Punxsutawney new Pittsburgh. The congregate in the town centre around a tree called Gobbler's Knob 😆 We could be related. You could be a long lost Moorlander who's relatives were sheep rustlers
      Thanks for the birthday wishes buddy 🤘

    But unfortunately it has no armpit zip and during walk I'm sweating like pig 😒😒

      I did think about bringing in the Covert M65 however I think that's part of their Urban Line. The SAS and Covert M65 have more in common than the two other anoraks

      I hear the 'Walter Mitty' look is all the rage this season 😆 You're not wrong about the Helikon-Tex brand ambassador, I should be on their payroll. I think as content creators its easy to keep to products or brands you know well or have a lot of enthusiasm for. I know Helikon content also goes down well with viewers. I'll be at IWA2024 this year and I know the Helikon booth will be jam packed with fans. I have a few other brand I'll be looks at more this year. Luckily Military 1st help and support the channel with gear

I'm willing to wager "never served your country" also applies to you....screamer....that's what you are my good man, I did "serve" 10 years so I know about kit and equipment and what I know compared to this man you could write on the back of a fag packet I currently work in hostile security and I use this man's reviews for my own purchases and he doesn't miss If he waited 3 years to review something he wouldn't have much of a channel would he?
