The sound of the ball is therapeutic
ping pong, ping pong, ping pong :)
They have nice acoustics there thanks to all the wood.
*Ball bounces on table*
Me: ASMR
Thanks! I think that sometimes as players get better, they forget about this though!
I know this video seems really obvious but a lot of players start out trying to hit the ball way to hard. To start learning the proper technique for all of your strokes check out these tutorials on our website: www.pingskills.com/tutorials/basic-strokes
Good luck with your table tennis journey.
Cheers,
Jeff & Alois
This is brilliant!!! It never occurred to me to hit the ball ON THE TABLE!!!! I'm always aiming for the ceiling directly above me!!! I don't win very often unless I'm playing someone who uses lots and lots and lots of backspin for some reason. But I am a little confused. In every professional ping-pong match I've ever watched, I seem to recall that in pretty much every point, one of the professionals chooses not to hit the ball on the table. Seriously!! Almost every point!! If they're so good, why do they do this? Have they simply not seen this incredibly insightful video?
haha, I'm glad we could help you :) Maybe we need to show this to Ma Long so he can win a few more matches! I know it seems obvious but we often see players trying to hit the ball way to hard before they have developed any control and they never develop the consistency to become a good player.
haha indeed! Ma will certainly be taken aback by this critical and counter-intuitive advice!! But not as taken aback as I am by your quick response and good humor. You certainly have better things to do than deal with someone like me!! My only criticism of your response is not taking a cheap shot at me!
Of course I understood the point you were making and it is an excellent one. In every sport, mastery of the fundamentals is essential. But I couldn't resist responding as I did when you said to hit the ball on the table. I laughed aloud for the irony of good advice sounding so ridiculous. It's akin to something like "Keep your eye on the ball" in baseball, which doesn't happen to sound inherently ridiculous, but if you think about it one could easily respond "Oh thank you so much!! I always just stare at my left knee until I hear the umpire say 'strike three, batter's out' "
I just couldn't resist writing what I did. I hope you truly enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it, among the few things I've written which I believe to be funny.
And for the record, I am among your very happy subscribers. I only wish I had found your videos sooner.
gas doc this is amazing

@@benwolthoff852- thank you!

I'm glad you like it. Make sure to checkout the PingSkills website too :-) You can ask any questions you have there using the ask the coach section.
Totally spot on, we are getting somewhere with these videos. Tq gentlemen ✌️✌️
Yes, we're re-fliming a lot of our older lessons in full 1080p HD video and also making sure the sound is of good quality. In the older version of this video it was really difficult to hear what Alois was saying.
Hi Noah Major,
What bat are you using at the moment? To generate spin you need a decent bat (watch our how to choose a bat video for more information). If you've got a decent bat then you need to ensure you get a fast brushing contact. You can even practice this away from the table. Try to hit the ball onto the floor with backspin and get it to spin back towards yourself.
PingSkills thanks is helpful☺
what are some good paddles to use for beginners
Thanks. I'm glad you liked the video.
Great video guys. Especially for beginners!
i have played for about 4 hours in my first month of tennis... is that good enough
We both use the PingSkills Touch with Xiom Vega Pro. You can find out more about these on our website.
Hi, I'm a now a fan of your videos. Can you please make a video about the ITTF rules? Thanks and more power!

PingSkills can you make a video about caring your TableTennis racket? Thank you in advance
can you make a video about the new balls. Or do you have any informations about the change?
Thx
Great video, thanks! I was wondering, how do you powerfully topspin a shot back from a short chop? I can topspin smash a ball with no chop on, but whenever I do it to a good, short chop, even if I try to lift it, the ball still goes into the net! ??
hi I love your videos I am a professional player and wants to choose a racket plz tell I am an offensive player and likes to hit smashes which one will be better for me
waiting for reply
+abhinav mishra What bat are you using at the moment?
Very interesting venue, seen it in a few videos, also see the table says Melbourne 2006, I'm guessing thats from the commonwealth games.. Would like to know more of this venue..
Jaco de Swardt Yes the table is from the Commonwealth Games. The stadium is in Ballarat which is in Victoria, Australia.
thank you
You're welcome.
I have a problem with the ball over shooting the table. I’ll be practicing this. 👍
Good luck!
Hey pingskills, what is a good alternitive if you use a sriver because my table tennis shop doesn't sell those anymore and i would like to use a rubber that is almost the same because i am so used to it
That is a shame as Sriver is a really good rubber. One that most people talk about being a good rubber similar to Sriver is Mark V. I'd give that a go.
Thanks for the advise, i think i am going to give that rubber a try then 😉
Great. Let me know what you think of it once you've played with it for a while.
I hold the paddle like a tennis racket...cuz i play tennis also, is that a problem? Or wont it make too big a difference?
thankyou !
You're welcome.
Hi Uncle i was a good table tennis player for 7 years i had a lot of gold medals, when i was small but then i donot play for 6 year or more now im 22 so im sure i can bounce back if i believe practice and play with a clever way.. anyway i just want to ask u about ma long bat my style and the way i like to play like ma long so it is okay to use it? or its going to be too fast for me, any advices of anything + the bat ? sorry for long title and thank u very much always know something new from u!🌹♡
It's great you are getting back in to table tennis. I think to start with don't get a bat that is too fast. We recommend something like the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Sriver, or if you want something a little faster try Yasaka Pryde. There are of course so many good options. Good luck getting back into the sport.
You can also ask questions on the PingSkills website where you'll be able to track your progress through our videos :)
its a great sport im getting a lot of emotions everyday i play remembering the guy ranking #2 in my country who was with me in the same club and i beat him twice so even if nobody believes in me i will do, i will join the website and thank u verymuch uncle u had a very nice hand btw ♡🌹
so that hit me up to bounce back and beat him again while he ranking 2# Thanks for the recommendation I appreciate it😀
sorry fot annoying u uncle, last question, i already use tibhar fh and tibhar bh for one of a player and getting into the rythem, and i used to use butterfly♡ i like them anyway so is yasaka better than em or not? or already i have to use yasaka now better for me, cuz i want to prove myself infront of the coach so i need the better choise + do the blade also effect or if i get any blade with those rubber? if i dont like it i change, and thank u 😁😅
do the butterfly amicus #machine help uncle?? 🌷
i want to know that a hard rubber or a soft rubber is good for forehand. i mean which one of these i should use on my forehand i play with stag balsa carbon with gen 2 on both the sides.
Huge difference, you should learn to play Shakehand Grip as opposed to irregular/unorthodox grips...
Thank you so much you nade ne betterxxx
You're welcome Aqil Mohammed.
Olá, pq so tem video na situaçao de que joga no "classico", poderia ter mais videos ae para quem joga na "
caneta"
Nice!
How to convince my seniors players to practice those basics ? As soon they arrive at the club
they want to play/count the points ...i told them little progress can be done by just challenging
one to another ...they brag me saying : here comes the professor sarcasticly...hard to argue with a group of people thinking > ...keep your advices for you.
One day i will bring my pc to show them your knowledge ...
This can be a tricky situation. If they like the competition side of things then you can try and turn the practice drills into a competition. Maybe you can see which pair of players can hit the most balls on the table in a row as an example.
can it be done with any rubber or a special one
+Rudra Prasadh Ganesh Any rubber for the most part. Once you start getting more advanced that's when different types of rubbers will really make a difference.
it would be good to review the basics with your re-made videos. :D
but how to hit a forehand drive
Hi Harry gill,
We call that a forehand counterhit. We have a video on this in detail. Search for it here on RUclips or look on our website unders lessons -> Strokes & Techniques
Im a beginner to table tennis, but I am decent at the sport, by that I mean that I can win about 2/3 of the games I play but I have serious trouble putting spin on the ball. I do not however have trouble hitting the ball where the other player has difficulty to get to, so would you please help me with maybe a video response?
Thanks.
Should I get butterfly table tennis bats? And are Dunlop bats bad?
Butterfly is an excellent brand. You could also get a PingSkills Rook :) www.pingskills.com/table-tennis-store/pingskills-rook
Hello and thank you for your excellent video. I have registered on your website but cannot find your 'consistency chart' that you mention. Can you supply a link to the download please? Many thanks.
Thanks for registering. You can find the consistency chart on the free downloads page: www.pingskills.com/free-downloads
Enjoy!
Coach, does this skill help hit the ball on the table and once you get it,then you can learn some forehand/backhand stroke.Am i right
Yes that is right!
PingSkills thanks for your reply I'm going to improve my skills
I wanted to know how to improve your table tennis racket spin
You need a good quality rubber. And over time the rubber will lose its grip so you need to replace it when this happens. Take a look at our tutorial on choosing a table tennis bat for more information: www.pingskills.com/tutorials/choosing-equipment/choosing-a-table-tennis-bat
What happens if you hit the table with the bat? Is that bad or does it mean nothing?
You are allowed to touch the table with your hand. In fact the only thing you can't touch the table with is your free hand. You also aren't allowed to move the table!
Alright good to know thanks for the quick response!
What paddles are you using?
RiPpEdMaMa you'll find it difficult playing forehand against backspins also though your shots may have better power in them because for your grip, they will lack spin
Really i have learnt it
Great to hear it!
Is the stiga revolter a food paddle/racket for someone who likes to dominate the game and doesn't play against someone great? Please answer!
It's a 4 star racket
Sorry I haven't tried that bat so can't really say. Are you using it?
Guy commenting who likes lambo try the duplex 6 star
Its True what he says ,But how do you Control Spin and a Fast Ball
Take a look at the stroke called a "block" - www.pingskills.com/tutorials/intermediate-strokes/backhand-block
When I do the forehand topsin how you showed in your video (with the body and racket moving..) it mostly goes out when I hit the ball hard, do you have a tip? But I sometimes think my bat is too bad to lift the ball on the table, what do you think?
The key is to get enough topspin on the ball. You do need good rubber on your bat to do this. Have you seen our forehand topspin video? - www.pingskills.com/tutorials/intermediate-strokes/forehand-topspin-against-block
are pimple out rubbers are good for chopping ???
Yes Kewalshah Kewal, a lot of choppers use long pimples on their backhands.
How does it help in chopping ????
Kewalshah Kewal It gives you more control. With an inverted rubber the topspin reacts more off your bat.
How much does a ball and table effect spin? I have a great bat but use a friends dinner table and extremely cheap balls. When i try generating spin either there is no effect at all or the spin is not significant enough to effect the play. Does it just come down to my skill? I'm fairly new, but I was just wondering thanks!
The ball can have some impact. If it is very shiny it will grip less in the rubber. You should still be able to get quite a bit of spin with a good rubber and a fast brushing contact.
please recommend any bat for me
+abhinav mishra We recommend the PingSkills Rook and the PingSkills Touch. You can find out more about them on the PingSkills website.
I know how to play table tennis thank you
Great to hear :)
Awesome
You're welcome Laxus Uj
In my opinion the most important skill in table rennis is to keep calm. I am 17 years old and I play against 50 years old who play table tennis for 30 years. I am a very quick player and my mates (the 50 years old) more play with spin and calm. So the spin and I want to play quick I fail.
Good point. Staying calm is important.
not to be critical or too awfully much of a dick, but saying hitting the ball on the table is the most important "skill", i'd say should be more considered the most important objective. that's like saying, kicking the ball in to the goal for soccer (football) is the most important skill in that sport.
i agree with you both that staying calm is important but i'll play devil's advocate again and mention that yes while you do want to remain calm, it's more like staying fluid because there are times when you need to be amped up to make those impossible shots that make the game so friggin amazing. like bruce lee used to say, "be water"
Don't take this video too literally. The point here is that you need to learn control so you can keep the ball on the table. Too many people try to get too fancy too quickly. By being able to keep the ball on the table you'll get more practice, have more fun, and then be able to focus more on improving other important skills.
what rubber do you have ping
+Rudra Prasadh Ganesh I'm using the PingSkills Touch with Xiom Vega Pro rubbers.
am a left handed player.....how should I return spin service with forehand as wel as backhand help me out
These tutorials should help you out - www.pingskills.com/categories/serving-and-receiving
You can leave a comment on any of these if you have more questions. Good luck!
I am using a donic waldner 3000 and want to upgrade so please my interest is in joola
+abhinav mishra Good question. Joola is a very good brand but I haven't used their equipment myself so can't help too much. You could ask a question on the PingSkills website and we could open it up to other readers.
I am talking about that shot which was called yessss
+Rudra Prasadh Ganesh I think there were a lot in that video. I guess you mean the one that spins back over the net? The key is to get a lot of backspin by getting a fine brushing contact on the ball. You do need good rubbers on your bat to generate that much spin though.
What is your tabletennistable? Thanks.
+mega lion It's from the Commonwealth Games in 2006.
I own a Killerpsin jet 800 and I am an intermediate player. What are your thoughts on the paddle. I do not seem to find any reviews on it.
Sorry I've never used it so can't help you out. Hopefully some others have some thoughts. You could also try asking a question on our website and we could ask our readers if they know about it.
Is there a paddle that you would recommend for an intermediate player going into advance level? I have checked out the paddles from ping-skills, however I wanted to get a pro advice form you to better select my perfect long time paddle. Thanks!
Zenith Sharma Like I said, there are so many good options. As long as you choose a good quality brand you can't go to wrong. For intermediate to advanced players, I'd recommend the PingSkills Touch with either Yasaka Pryde or Xiom Vega Pro.
i''m not really good at forcehand can u teach howto make the force hand drive well
+Kim Leang We sure can. Just go to the PingSkills website and go through all the strokes & techniques lessons, you'll find them under the table tennis lessons page. Good luck!
thank
+Kim Leang You're welcome.
I like this video nice
What is the rule for the table tennis. If the ball drops twice in net and falls to opponents table.
On the serve if the ball is otherwise a legal serve but touches the net on the way over, then it is a let and the point is replayed. If the ball touches the net during a rally then play continues.
what kind of racket you used،please?????
The PingSkills Touch with Xiom Vega Pro.
some tips against a left hand player ... plss
Raghav Bang hah Im left handed
wow super
You guys made a video that has already been made
i have played for about 4 hours in my first month of tennis... is that good enough
