- Speed. It’s the biggest contributing factor to road deaths in Ireland.
And its difference is felt acutely at low levels. Or in urban areas. When you hit someone at 50kmph, they have a 50% of living. But hit them at 60kmph, and that chance drops to just 10%.
Our latest campaign shows the danger of just this kind of speeding by low increments. The kind of speeding some drivers do without even realising. The 5kmph you go over in a daze that doubles your chance of being involved in a casualty collision.
We are asking you to Slow Down and to drive at a speed that is appropriate to the road conditions, environment and your experience. Please remember that a speed limit is not a target.
what freaks me out the most is the simple fact I know these places. I've been there walks tho streets,cycled them on the way to work,taken the bus and taxi along them/

it genuinely scares me. and thats what makes these ads work.
rsa had one job over the past couple of years and that was to make me an ad that was less traumatic.
This ad is on tv now, absolutely brilliant. For me, it shows me everything nice about Dublin, that I have had the chance to experience in my life, that are lost in an instant for me but also never experienced by that poor little girl. Just don't fucking drive fast.
Love the song the ad is a little less depressing than usual some of the ads had me in tears

In all fairness, this shows that the driver wasn't looking at the road ahead and was seemingly distracted by everything including the birds flying right up until just before the pedestrians crossed the road at the end. It doesn't matter what speed drive at if you don't watch the road ahead so this advert doesn't work.

Yes, it's just a short piece that the RSA commissioned Cathy Davey to write specially for the video. I'd recommend anyone who enjoyed it to check out her other work - some of the songs on New Forest, her latest album, have a similar feel.
