It could be no important for most of smm2 players but I really would love that Nintendo could allow any background or ground texture in any type level. Same for lava or water in any level. It would add an artistic and pleasant effect for creating more thematics in many levels.
If we could remove the time limit on levels, we could make a full blown open world Mario game with this! The different biomes/regions could be made using the infinite floors, and instead of collecting Stars/Shines/Moons or whatever, we would collect Red Coins to finally get the key to a door which takes us to the game’s final boss and end!
Being a scratch user myself, online things are super complexed to program, especially for something like this and that includes ways to allow you to view other courses that people have made. Blame scratch's limitations for the annoying way to play other people's levels and being unable to rate them. As for more themes and playable characters, you can click "see inside" and change all the sprite costumes and audios and code. This will not save unless you also remix the game which creates a copy that you can own. It automatically links the origional on its main page

The thing I like about this is that if you make a scratch account them you can "remix" a project which means it will give you a copy that you can edit completely so if you want to retexture it or add more stuff then you can! This means you can retexture mario into other characters as well as create new themes. You can also change controls on the code too

Idea for that level: a level where its the same level, but with different themes in every sub area, and every sub area has its own gimmick, like the castle having lava
This is THE GREATEST thing I’ve EVER seen in scratch, and it also seems like you haven’t really used scratch so let me clarify a few things. 1. It is unlikely that it is possible that the game can even be updated to the scale you requested, scratch is not meant as means to make a fully-fledged game, but rather to learn how to program. This guy must be really good at core optimisation to already have this much in the project. 2. Some things just aren’t possible with scratch. Adding new game modes would most only take a lot of time but it might not even be possible because of the amount of sprites that would have to be used. Again, scratch is not a tool to make games. 3. The way that the sharing levels system works is pretty much the only way to do it. It is 100% impossible to have a level sharing system inside a scratch project, and the only way for a save file system is to have a code people can copy and paste the next time they play, which is also how to do it with level sharing. 4. Because of the intentions of scratch (NOT a game engine!) it is again to unlikely to be possible to add much more to this project as it would just destroy not only the people who play the game’s computers but also the creator of the project in the editor before even trying to save. Hope this helps.
I also want to note, the saving system is great tho. Once you save a level you can enter a level name, if anyone loads the code, then you can see who made it and the level name!
Concept for a level: Switch from a scorching desert, a freezing cavern, a warm beach, or a volcano area to defeat a boss that implements elemental powers like fire and lava (lava bubble/ burners), to water and ice (water level/ icicle), wind (twisters), and ground (thwomps/ skewers). Thanks for maybe considering the idea!
Unfortunately, the game probably won’t be updated because the description says they have used the maximum file size that scratch allows, so it most likely will remain unchanged.
7:01 you can acutally play with the controller all you need is Scratch Addons installed on your brower, open it up, go to settings, and turn on Gamepad support

This looks super awesome!! Never thought that this would be possible :o As a stage concept, maybe make a stage like SMB1’s 1-1, but there’s something unusual behind the scenes that eventually interrupts the level 🤔
If you could control the water and lava with an ON/OFF switch, you could do things like when it's on, the lava will rise, but when it's off, the water will rise. You could do like contraptions where there a gap, full of enemies in the water, and you have a dry bones shell to get across, but you need lava to do it. So, if you hit the switch, you could turn it into lava, and get across. You should also be able to change what you want it to be. You could have poison, sand, or even ink. This would work great.
Level idea (if you get 4k likes and if this is the top comment): a level where Mario travels through the layers of Earth. First he finds the goal is blocked by ON/OFF blocks and goes through the different layers of Earth. Starting at the ground (crust), then underwater (an ocean), and then a hot underground area (the mantle/inner or outer core). Then have Mario hit the switch underground, have him go all the way up, and then reach the goal.
Hey what if in smm2 we can fuse themes to make new ones? Ground + castle:Tower Desert + forest:Beach Underground + castle:Volcano Make them double Snow + snow : glacier Then fuse them for MORE themes! Volcano + glacier : Freezeflame valley

A lot of ideas I’ve had that they never put in MM2 are here. I kinda stopped because limitations. I want to have water, lava, quicksand, etc blocks as an option in the next official game
I remember this game called Super Mario Editor, maybe you should check it out. Also, I definitely think more enemies and bosses should be added, at least all the enemies from SMM2 should definitely be here.
the problem with making an in-game level sharing system, is that with a popular game, like super mario maker 3, the list used to store the available levels will get filled up quickly and no new ones will be able to be uploaded, or worse, the level codes will get chopped in half and you will only be able to play half the level.
Different game styles are limited by Scratch below my incapable of handling that many assets, however, you can create a scratch account, click 'remix' on the project, and go through all the sprites' "costume" tabs and replace them with images of the objects from different game styles (they should all he the same size and have the same name, and it will take a long time unless you can find someone else that already did it)
The problem is that since Nintendo is such a large company, they focus on the quality and professionality of the game rather than the actual gameplay. That's why it's so easy for anybody to create something better than Nintendo's version just by using a literal kid's learning website. The only reason why I prefer the Nintendo version is because of the online multiplayer and how popular it is. However, online multiplayer is something possible in scratch that has been done a lot, so if somebody makes a project where you can play the levels with other people online, then I would literally prefer this over the actual game. I feel like nintendo knows this and that's why they try to prevent stuff like the Mario Multiverse.
Incase anybody’s wondering, there is now a super Mario maker 4 by the same guy, it adds even more content including more power up’s, more enemies, and even the world maker! (I still think you can’t play as other characters tho, it would be so cool, and so easy to make at the same time saying they’re mostly reskins)
I really badly want a waterfall block for aesthetics. The block would allows for water falls or lava falls, would be cool if Mario could also use a block raised over his head as an umbrella to get under the lava falls with out taking damage. A void block would be kind of cool too.
*Fun fact:* Scratch projects are usually very glitchy because of all the limitations and poor coding features that you can get. Because of this, even the strongest Scratch projects in the world may have a lot of glitches. Therefore, why not just try to find as many glitches as you can in this game and try to make a video with them? Scratch games have tons of glitches, including the ones that have a level editor function. So, just go for it! *Another fun fact:* In this Scratch game, there is no Nintendo team that will delete your level if it has glitches in it. But because of the way Scratch works, fixing a glitch in a game is very easy, and it may break your level if it's based on a specific mechanic in the game. Therefore, have fun making a glitch level, but there is potential that your level will break in a couple of days if the game gets updated.

also there isnt any online except for cloud variables which CAN make online, but not like online levels and such.
most of the things you said that you want in the game are mostly hard to do. but not all of them like changing character sprites and a level rating system (you could make a discord server for that)
This is very impressive for Scratch!
Idea for 4K like level: Boss rush! Play a castle, battle Larry! Play a castle, battle Boom-Boom! Beat a castle, battle Morton! Or you could do a red coin thing, and maybe the final boss is custom!
Ben has made 3 mario maker games i believe, maybe 4. most share the same style however the first one is in the NES smb1 style (which i used the most lol)
Me about to make The Perfect Run: laughs in no checkpoints
Make a level with all the powerups present!!
Imagine a course where the lava interchange throughout the entire level. And mario has to use the water to get past different obstacles but avoid the lava when it rises over
this looks like an trailer
this is epic
Yo this is amazing. I wish Nintendo would push to make SMM game like this xD
Sonic frenzy 2 is also an amazing game on scratch, you should try it out
fungus, plural fungi, any of , which includes the yeasts, rusts, smuts, mildews, molds, and mushrooms. There are also many funguslike organisms, including slime molds and oomycetes (water molds), that do not belong to kingdom Fungi but are often called fungi.
Here's a few ideas for a level:
1. Make a level based off of swimming underwater but there is lava beneath it.
2. Make a level based off of spot the difference.
3. Make a level based off of switching between the new powers.
If this is the top comment, pick one of your choice. Keep up the good work!
(Edit)Also, if you wish I can make a level for you

Wow, thx for sharing this with us Arrow, amazing vid too.
My man created an entire Mario Maker game with all of the limits of Scratch. Respect.
Edit: I also like your point on playing with brand new characters. I'd love Peach or Yoshi or even my man Yellow Toad.

Benjamin: nah
Cloud flower really gets into all the fanmade Mario makers, huh?
Not that I’m complaining though
You can remix it to have a different game style
They don't have different game styles because, I mean, it's scratch. It would take way to long to make that. But nice video! I really like these Mario maker 2 videos.
