Obviously this is early into development. More details like particles will definitely be added later on. Enjoy the video ;)
can you send another discord link the description one is not working
I had an idea for something you could do, adding different playable characters like Luigi, toad, toadette, and characters from the Mario franchise like other colored toads, wario, and waluigi.
Smashy Question, what are you gonna do if nintendo finds out about this game and uses their best lawyers to sue you like they do all the time?
Do you think you can add in bowser jr in a submarine?
Idea: put different styles
This game is gonna end up having every Mario enemy in existence, but I would take 700 years just to code one of them. This seems like a huge undertaking, nice work!
Later in development, it would be nice to have some sort of event system, so that you can control where/when water rises/falls or when meteors start spawning instead of them just having to function on a cycle. It would also be cool if you could place event systems on enemies/items to trigger certain effects. For example, placing an event system on a door could require you to do a little mini clear condition in order to unlock it, and placing it on an enemy could spawn an item in its place when it dies. In general, they would let SM become a lot more powerful than SMM without younger players having to deal with IDs and pseudocode and stuff.
Like a block you can hit that changes it?
@@PhantomOfficial07 Like an invisible wall/ceiling that changes the state of the game when you pass through it.
@@Temsaa yeah that would be awesome, would make stages more intense, adds a level of suspense as well

How will this be released to the public without trouble from Nintendo?
Edit: Stop saying “that’s the neat part, it won’t” it’s not funny
What nintendon't know won't hurt them
@Angelo man the reason mario multiverse is in a permanent closed beta is because nintendo will shut it down
Those games are in closed beta meaning they aren’t released to public
@Angelo they WILL get in trouble if mario multiverse is released to the public
@@jonboy3865 are you sure? I thought it was bc there was still a lot of work to do
Bosses were a thing I really wanted in SMM, so seeing different enemies is really cool
smm2 has some
More 3d world boss rushes! Hurrah!
SMG bosses in a Mario Editor, would be great.
@@IvanFranco120 you can just use smbx, it's more a game engine than a mario editor but simple custom bosses are not so hard to make
4:10 this right here is strangely something we needed in Mario Maker since day negative one.
Yeah, i hate when that happens... 😔
I think a fun enemy to include would be the spider enemies (Scuttlebug, I think)
They could either hang from a ceiling, or from the air, and move up and down randomly with a minimum and maximum range.
They could be defeated with a jump, and maybe there can be two variants, with one having the web string climbable that also stays after it's defeated.
Personally,I really like the ghost door idea. I think it should be added to more course parts, like fake powerups, fake flagpole, fake pipes, etc
imagine fake floors that won’t let you jump while you’re on them
Come on, don’t make the trolls get more power
@@lienesauserde7419 That's true, but it also has so much potential for traditional levels
Ye but their should be an way to notice these fake things
@@ScuttleBugReal so a sticky floor?
yet again another awesome fangame video! keep it up Smashy! always glad to help 👍
HI CREEPZE BESTIE!!!!
🆕
Hey Smashy, just so you're aware, if this is taken down. It means a SMM 3 is on the horizon!
Since Nintendo usually takes down Fan Projects that line up with a certain release!
so this video will stay up forever
My BIGGEST suggestion is to make the Beep blocks sync to the music. Them not doing this in Mario Maker ruins them entirely for me
poggers
Glad I could help with the blinking blocks :)
This looks so cool!
As a suggestion, if you aren't too against the idea of using other gimmicks from the 3D games, I think it would be neat to see the Water-Level Prisms from SM64's Wet-Dry World. In SMM2 the water levels can only really go up and down in a cycle. With these prisms, if you touch them the water level raises or lowers to its space. I think it could be a unique tool for puzzle levels, troll levels and levels that would otherwise require going back and forth.
Amazing fan game so far.
Just got here so cool to have seen these sprites be made and then implemented in server
Can't wait to see the final results!
1:00 it would be cool if the bone goomba respawned like a dry bones, that would be useful for speedrun and gimmick stages. Also this is really cool, I can’t imagine how much work is going into this
And also made him immunite to fire just like Dry Bones
Well in nsmb 2, they get killed instantly, along with bone pirhana plants
@@guineapig0983 true, but it would be more entertaining if they broke down. You could also make a new “dry goomba” enemy that acts like dry bones and keep the current ones the same.
dry goombas resist fireballs thats all
@@min2793 I know, I just think it would be cooler if they revive. I played nsmb2
I'd love to see the Triangle Block from Super Mario World. Being able to run up walls was so much fun in that game. Also one of those switches that flips the level 90 degrees...
Bone goombas should revive like dry bones.
Edit: Also, empty koopa shells should be wearable, maybe less powerful than the buzzy shellmet (can't break blocks) but still protects against hits from regular-sized enemies, and adds a hit.
This looks cool so far! I would recommend using Unity's built-in title set editor to make a level editor, as I noticed you don't have any actual blocks in your level so far. A good tutorial is Coding in Flow's "Build a 2D Platformer Game in Unity" tutorial, particularly episodes 1 and 2.
I'm really excited to see all the work being done on the physics!
I am extremely excited to see any future updates this game has the offer, it looks amazing!
Yeah
I would recommend adding breaking effects when blocks break
True
Awesome video! I have one suggestion: I know that grabbing was specifically NOT in the Super Mario Bros style of Mario Maker 2, but I think it would be a cool feature as it appears that Super Mario Bros will be the only (current) style in the game. Besides, all these shell types and bob-ombs would feel even more alive with the addition of grabbing!
This is really impressive! Keep up the good work!
honestly rng is usually for obstacles but for the bone raft id have it act the same every time, so youd be able to plan coins/tracks whatever to intersect it at specific points reliably
4:10 You definitely need to add bouncing on shells. When you jump on a shell Mario always bounces a little bit so without it, it’s weird
I think you should keep adding spooky enemies, you know adding enemy reskins gave me an idea.
Reskin: the Hammer Knight enemy from Mario kart 8. Replaces or is something like the banzai bills in the background of 3D world style from Mario marker 2.
I want to point out that SMM2 didn't always improve on it's changes from SMM for instance that Spike traps are way worst in SMM2 with their hitboxes. So it may not entirely be the best scenario to use SMM2 physics on everything sometimes SMM is more what you would want in certain areas.
I love how Broozers ALWAYS have the smile like in NSMBDS instead of them looking mad like in later entries. I like both designs but still.
I can't explain how much i love this project! Keep up the good work!
You should make the semi-invisible coins, that have an out line of a coin until you touch them, then they just turn into coins to collect.
I love how your adding the more obscure parts of Mario, and I have some suggestions for the future
Kab-omb: since you’ve already added volcanic debris a kab-omb could go along with them, they’re basically bob-bombs but they only explode when hit by debris, they’re from new super Mario bros ds
Scuttle bugs: the spider enemies that can hang from the ceiling
Rock guys from 3d world: you can jump on them and that’ll turn them into an inanimate boiler you can throw and they’ll turn sentient again after a bit
what you do is so great! I really love watching this game grow! I´d have a suggestion abouting new ennemies, the coolhigan from smbw
You should add some underwater enemies like jelectrobes, urchins, purple cheep cheeps, porcupuffer, or others. This game looks amazing so far, and I can’t wait to see it. Thanks.
If you add lava you should add the wavy lava as well, that would go well with the moving bone raft when designing stages
Maybe make it so you can control the wavelength and amplitude of the waves as well? Itd be extra cool if the wavelength and amplitude could be set by triggers within the stage so they could vary from section to section
Also these waves are often moving across the screen as well, itd be cool to be able to set that as well - direction and speed
We need the yellow/disco shells from SMW!
What’s that?
Targeting shell
This really makes me mourn the tons of potential super Mario maker 2 had for updates long past its original life span. You’re doing such a great job, these features are so impressive!
this looks so cool, cant wait to see more and more
You should propably add the score counter since its looks kinda weird when you kill an enemy without the numbers poppin out
And remove the X from the counters, ala 3D World + Bowser's Fury.
Loved all the additions, especially the completely new ones!
Just a thought (because this isn't really something you'd see in a conventional 2D Mario game): Decorative tiles that act like platforms/nothing would be kinda neat I think. Stuff like furniture, lights, torches, plants and all that stuff. I think it would let level creators put more charm into their levels and make them feel more unique.
Anyways this project is getting more exciting with every update and I can't wait to see what comes next!
4:07 it would be cool if the blue spiny shell exploded when it hit a wall or could fly over small obstacles to reference the Mario Kart series.
I love blue spiny koopas!!! also I think options (while not mandatory) to decorate the background and blocks would be great
every day, the game becomes stronger
The rotating cogs found in NSMBW 1-Castle should be added with both a big and small version and with the ability to spin to the left or to the right
3:50 I feel like the Blue Shell should be stronger when kicked than the others, following Mario Kart's depiction of it
0:56 Smashy, you forgot that Bone Goombas don't die to a fireball.
im glad someone is making this, and i wonder if the mystery mushroom is here this time
THANKS SO MUCH SMASHY!!! LOVE THIS
dude, you nailed the 3d block effect! gg
this looks super cool so far. i think adding some like broken block pieces when blocks are destroyed would be a good idea later in development
4:09 My thoughts is that that koopa solves what koopa wears a blue shell mystery. It would be neat to have winged version shells explode upon hitting the walls, to better solve the mario kart mystery.
I would like to see shy guys and their variations, maybe those wierd things from jungle levels that move back and forth with their thorny legs, flame chomps, and maybe even the boss from mario sunshine that's the rocky wrench inside the mortar and as well as the painting level style from nsmbu
still a fan of the project! im definitely joining the discord. keep up the good work MR SmashyMan!
Make it so the maker can set it so clampys can send you to sub-areas after eating you, to hide secrets for players willing to take the risk. I can imagine the trolls already XD
Omg you made everything I wanted
Nice to see Broozers added, they're some of my favorite enemies in the series. Would be nice to see Barrels at some point so they can punch these as well (among other uses for level design).
Otherwise, another enemy suggestion would be the Sumo Bros from Mario World/NSMBU, maybe with their boss variation as well.
Is Lava Lotus from SMB3 added yet?
It’s incredible how faithful the mechanics are the the original. To think it’s in early development too.
It would be really cool to have those blocks that only appear if you are close enough from space junk galaxy in mario galaxy.
this is a really cool project!
aww thank you so much for changing the clampy sprite haha!
(i made the both of em btw)
Oh my god I’m so exited for this video
OMG YES!!!!!! WE NEED A FANMADE MARIO MAKER!
Suggestion: Add a portal block, that when mario touches it, he will teleport to another portal block (and he will walk out of it to avoid any bugs). You should also make an option to make it a one-way portal.
dude cant wait for nintendo to make mario maker 3 so he takes this opportunity, truly gigachad
Oh! Oh! Being able to add more parts to the bone raft! And the spooky goombas but for the goombrat!
6:00 suggestion: make a rainbow clampy that teleports you, like a pipe would, but only when it chomps down.
What about rolling Chomps?
I like how people make these enemies and they make them different from what they actually look like from the game
An enemy that seems cool to add is the ptooie. It would be very interesting in jungle levels and just levels in general.
been waiting for this
I wonder how many styles will be in this game. Can not wait for the full game!
Nintendo: We want to contact you
Smashy: You want to use my ideas for a new Mario Maker?
Nintendo: Oooh haha… no…
This is great!
i love your ideas
Heh, ay the Scaredy Rats! I love those enemies! Oh awesome, you also made the mix of those 2, and hey, you could make the koopatrols from Paper Mario, but without the spike on their head, & they would be like the Boney Beetles (like when they go into their spiky shell) but will become a spiky shell to kick instead of collapsing.
I think you should add the gold koopa shell that makes mario heavier when carrying it. it functions like metal mario but can be thrown to make water puzzles cooler.
I like this really much. My suggestion is to add some animations when a block gets broken bei a cooper shell or some other enemies.
hey smashy! love your work! this is a pretty cool project thing that your doing! i had a few suggestions and i hope you don't mind if i might share them here!
here goes nothing!
ice flower, penguin power up, tiny mushroom, sloped pipes, secret world cannon, goomba stack function where you can place a goomba and pull on its head upwards to make a stack of goombas to your hearts content, meteors that fall from the sky, blue coin switch, switch gravity function (up down left and right), curved land circles, mega spring, toad npcs which will supply you with a power up when you stand in front of them and before you do they will jump up and down because toad will and has always been energetic, double cherry powerup, penguin enemies, birds that fly away when you get close to them, passive enemies in the background like the toad idea minus the free power ups, stone that you can carry like in story mode, annoying bird from super mario bros 2 which has a flying carpet and the flying carpet by itself, a pow switch which would be like a p switch but act like a pow block when you activated it, donkey kong so he could throw barrels and the barrels by themselves as well, shock clouds which i forgot the name of, clouds that you can step on, bee mario power up, cloud mario power up, green stars, cosmic clones, toxic clones, water mario from sunshine, petey piranha plant, birdo who spits eggs at you, weeds that you can pull out of the ground to get coins, power ups, keys, potion bottles which spawn doors for some reason and very rarely, enemies, miniture thwomp, baby yoshi, yoshi egg throw mechanic, seahorses in the background for underwater levels, beach theme, volcano theme, coin cave theme, nabbit, princess peach in a cage as well as a switch to release princess peach from said cage, daisy in a cage as well as a switch to release daisy from said cage, toadette in a cage as well as a switch to release toadette from said cage, toad in a cage as well as a switch to release toad from said cage, luigi in a cage as well as a switch to release luigi from said cage, hidden fire shooting blocks as well as hidden cannon ball shooting blocks AND that is about all i could think of for now... good luck implementing all of those! :D
Awesome!
I really hope we get some themes soon. I'm not sure how hard it actually is because I am clueless at making games but surely it would be one of the easier things you would make.
this is so cool!
I think that the best thing to do is ingenuity. There are hundreds of fan-made Mario Maker games out there, and while having more content or freedom than the official version, what makes Super Mario Maker so successful is its creativity and subversion on the common Mario tropes. Hiding enemies in blocks, stacking stuff, giving hundreds of uses to common elements.
So I would say that you should focus less on new content and more on making it more Mario-like. Instead of adding single elements for the sake of just having more stuff, focus on expanding the potential of creativity. Stuff similar to the things Super Mario Maker did, like the enemy stacking mentioned before. More stuff like that
I don’t need anymore surprises in my life right now.
You should totally add Shy Guys! Would love to see them, they’re my favorite Mario enemy.
Cool
Man i want this game to be finished and have a online level sharing server. This has potential.
Given that you added empty koopa shells, I think it would be cool if you could wear them as helmets like the spiny and buzzy beetle ones.
I'm not sure if they'd have any practical use but it'd be cool.
A really important feature to the haunted block is that it will go through blocks until able to hit mario in a straight line from it to mario without going through blocks and walls
I'd love to see boss rooms added to your game. They would be 1 or 2 screens wide and 1 or 2 screens tall. Any enemy can be assigned to be the boss of the room and once you defeat that enemy, the level is complete. They'd also have their own unique style depending on the theme that the boss door is put in.
I am going to put a little twist on your idea. I think being able to build your own boss room is nice, it allows more creativity for gimmicks. My idea is being able to assign the end of a level to an enemy. When you kill that enemy, the level ends. Same sort of idea as yours, but allows for more creativity.
@@cyberslasho8 well you're of course going to be able to customize what's in the boss room, keep in mind all the boss arenas within the Mario games. Who could forget SMW Wendy? And NSMBU Bowser Jr. 2 was great too. And my boss room idea could essentially make it so you have more space in the main level to do more with.
@@AcousticJammTheGamer oh ok, thanks for clarifying
Blue koopa is a sick idea tbh
holy heaven this looks good
One suggestion: I know you probably already thought of this, but maybe you can set the beat blocks to have customization options like spawn and despawn rates, and whether or not it goes by the bpm of the music for the level
Other than that, great work, to all of you😁!
Snow that drops from trees, powder snow, and quick sand that also has the option to be a warp
I don't know if this already exists, but I recommend adding single Lava/Water/Poison Pools so you don't have to have a complete body of water that goes through the entire stage
The Tipping Stones from various New Super Mario Bros Games that fall down if they are tipped too much.
Circular, rotating ground from New Super Mario Bros Wii (is literally in the first level)
The eels from New Super Mario Bros DS
On that note, big bubbles you can swim in should be added too
Itd be cool to see the other three styles too
I think more enemy variations would be really cool like a green kamek that teleports around a lot and shoots a faster and bigger projectile but cant break blocks or or a bigger and slower goomba witch you can only ground pound
There is one important aspect that I have not seen much, which are the various interactions between enemies. Nevertheless, this is getting along well!
Hey Samshy, I think you should add in moves from more recent Mario games (spin jump, midair twirl, ground pound, holding items, etc.) I think this would fit with some of your new items (like the empty koopa shell) Thanks!
I can't wait to see these all added in an actual level
I love the haunted piano!
