If I remember correctly, for some reason the BW200 came with an auto decompression lever on that shaft you took out, and the kick mechanism that's for the tw is different than the bw and will interfere with that shaft. That takes it back a long way. It's been 25 years since I've worked on a BW200. I had one that was like brand new. Should have kept that bike for sure.

Ah yes, I know that spring well. I’ve done a few BW/TW kickstarts in my day.
Is the spring clip thingy prone to fail?
@@frostbitevinnie Not unless it breaks. If someone was in there before you, they may have just reinstalled it wrong, which is why it popped off.
Question. Hopefully you can respond quick. Will a 1987 kick starter go on a 2008?
I would think so but not 100% sure.
