We roughed in most of the plumbing when we built the house. The basement has a sewage ejector pit since it’s lower than the municipal sewer line. I had to break up some cement to add a drain for the washing machine.
I used a dimpled underlayment that is specifically designed for basements. The dimples allow air flow under the flooring to prevent potential issues from moisture. For the flooring, we used vinyl plank flooring.
The entire apartment is approximately 1,000 sq. ft. The fireplace helps to heat the room it's in but not much beyond that. The house has a gas furnace, which keeps everything properly heated.
It cost us approximately $35 Canadian per square foot. Keeping in mind that we did all of the work ourselves (minus the installation of the fireplace and the carpet).
It’s difficult to guess. We finished out a couple of years ago, so the price of materials has increased since then. Also depends on the size of the basement and the type of finishes you choose. Our basement cost is approximately $50K to finish while doing all of the work ourselves.

How did you run the plumbing? Did you tie into main sewer drain or use a sewage pump? Ty

@@HivetoHome Thanks for your professional video.
Omg no sill plate on the framing that meets the concrete floor. Yikes.
There’s a vapour barrier in between every bottom plate and the cement floor. Thanks for watching!
