  • Straddling Iraq's life-giving Tigris and Euphrates rivers are the Hammar Marshes, an ancient Mesopotamian wetland where floating communities have lived for centuries. In recent years, the region has attracted visitors who come to marvel at the Madan’s, or Marsh Arabs, way of life; this aquatic community is famous for their ability to majestically navigate reed-covered waterways in hand-made canoes-all the while singing the songs of their forefathers across the delta.

    Recent studies demonstrate that the ma'dan are the closest living descendants of the Ancient Sumerians, through DNA analysis... amazing how historically and culturally rich these people are.

    • @YungPrince2k16
      @YungPrince2k16 4 года назад +12

      Yes I have been studying this recently and stumbled across the same thing, Wish I was rich so I can go there and help in some way to insure there lineage doesn’t go extinct. I believe they are the original Hebrews. Abraham went from Modern Uruk to Isreal, stated in blibical scriptures.

    • @Erminestreet
      @Erminestreet 3 года назад +5

      YungPrince2k16 no, they are not Hebrews. If their ancestors were indeed Sumerians , who were not Semitic, then they can’t be either

    • @YungPrince2k16
      @YungPrince2k16 3 года назад +6

      Unicum Well think about it, The whole bloodline of Moses was from that region “Uruk” modern day Iraq. They were there for thousands of years until Abraham went to Israel which is the bloodline of the 12 tribes and Jesus Of Nazareth.
      If you look at genetic studies there is a clear connection between Indus Valley and Iraq people today. That is the only non-Semitic Dna they have today which means one thing.

    • @TheIraqiforce
      @TheIraqiforce 3 года назад +2

      Unicum What you said doesn’t make sense. If prophet Abraham was from a Sumerian city (Uruk). And he’s the father of Jews then these people are the historical ancestors.

    • @sweaspurdoddd5466
      @sweaspurdoddd5466 3 года назад +2

      @@YungPrince2k16 Not the Hebrews. A number of aDNA studies show that the Levant has genetic continuity from atleast the Neolithic age. This is further supported by archaeology. Archaeological evidence strongly suggest that the Hebrews were an indigenous canaanite population which embraced monotheism and eventually developed a new culture. Hell, monotheism only truly emerged among the Hebrews between 586 and 332 BCE.

    I was deeply moved by the reveal of this man and his story yet I found it uncomfortable watching the video. The story is about the man, his song and his land, especially the ancient Sumer, but the man's voice was drowned by the audio/music and the film was drowned by the editing/snap-shots. I feel the man needed something much slower, less noisy, more about his voice and song. But we, the viewers needed to read the subtitles too, so there was conflict. What do I look at? What do I listen too? Man, voice, land, fast photo shots and background music, then subs as well - too much. Pity, something incredibly valuable was lost. Yet not. Now I have a memory of him.

    Sumerians are not Arabs a simpleton can find that out through basic research. Majority of Mesopotamia was not Semitic and the rulers were not Semitic, they did rule over the semites to where they treated poorly. Also Aramaic being from the Indo-European family while Arabic from the Afro-Asian Family which is Africanoid. They also were not too fond of the semites so I don’t think they would like those statements :(
