With that being said, musicianship isn’t about facility, it’s a modern thing that everyone watches music, but the platform of music is one of listening. If you take away the amazement at his dexterity or facility the music itself isn’t that incredible. Also when I see him or Tommy play in a band it’s pretty vanilla. Most people would still rather listen to an old legend who can barely walk than one of these guys on electric. That’s because they don’t write. They cover and arrange other peoples music. But once you get past facility and being amazed by someone’s physical skills, what matters is the music. And he’s never created something or a style that players use or copy. I would say a Guthrie Govan, Greg Koch or Tim Henson are much better. Nathaniel is amazing, but when you start talking in superlatives, it needs to be mentioned…Clapton and EVH are gods not because of their ability but because every single guitarist in the world uses their facility that they invented. Most don’t even realize that’s where their licks are from. And beyond that Freddi King is pretty much what all of us who are playing rock n roll are playing. Superlatives are for people who influence and change the game, that’s just my opinion. Another way of looking at it is. Professional musicians don’t judge other musicians on their dexterity because they can ALL play like that. They just would rather play with other people than arrange 9 instruments onto one guitar…
