Hello, I liked the video! In Sketch 5 to make the groove…. Where did the 5mm dimension come from? It is not defined in the drawing. Nice video series!!
Good question! I just can see at 0:32 on the plan right hand side a 5 but it's very difficult to realize that's the depth of cut related to the grove. Imagining a groove made by a lathe operation on the shaft, maybe...
@@LFANS2001 The 5mm at the right hand side of the drawing is the height of the 13 "teeth", which he set to 82mm diameter at 13:30. The shaft diameter is 72mm so the difference devided by 2 makes up the tooth height of 5mm. So I think that the 22mm wide groove should be directly attached to the previous section of the shaft with 76mm diameter. Also, the model he created differs in this point from the rotating model during the first few seconds of the video (e.g. at 0:07). If you look at the rotating model you can't see the 5mm offset while the model he created shows this offset (17:06).
I haven't practiced /followed his modelling with FreeCAD, perhapes one of this days I'll do it. He is very poor in english so he does not answer any question. Anyway he presents some good workflow and it will help someone new in FreeCAD community. @@jurgenr3240
Congratulations on the video. freecad is great software, it's good to see someone like you who can extract its full potential
Great One !
Thanks for the nice tutorial.

Great that you are back. Great tutorial, but I wonder where you got the 5mm at 16:45 from?
