I think testament has been power crept into being one of the worst characters in the game again which is very sad to me. Testaments been suffering for a while now since s3 launch and it just doesn’t get better. Very, VERY good video. I love your takes.
@@sleepyswampert I’m one of the few that argues how axl getting easier access to a fullscreen move that has every answer to every situation and regardably one of the best keepaways in the game is beneficial even if some of his sauce was gutted but honestly I’m not a character specialist with him nor will ever be so I’m not putting myself through that discussion
I can't believe my favorite channel now covers 2 of my favorite fighting games franchises Awesome vid! I would still hate fighting testament but this would be cool to include
Screw it, if Dizzy's 5H can apply Freeze, we should also get at least one normal that applies stain. My money's on 2H and j.D But yeah, I agree, I think the main buff that would be good is to let more stuff apply stain, then it would at least be some bullshit on the level of the other characters. And if we were to somehow get a new move, that modified tree does sound like a good idea. Great stuff! From one Testament main to another :)
while I don't think the 6P nerf is all that bad, especially when the rest of the cast got nerfs to their 6Ps, I do agree that this character needs some new life breathed into their moveset. It's wild to me that we got exactly what we wanted twice in both fullscreen arbiter and now stain throw and we're still as powercrept as we are. We have to take like 2/3 steps to execute our gameplan, then Dizzy comes out and they let her get her status for free off 5H like dawg what? My main idea for a new move involved allowing them to convert a succubus into a zeinest net with 236P, which would stick around for about 4 seconds (its existence indicated by a little marker so it isn't invisible) with only one able to exist on screen in conjunction with a succubus, turning a second succubus into zeinest would delete the first. An opponent caught in a net would either a) have stain applied if they didn't already have it, or b) have stain detonated if it was previously applied. Another use would be that it could eat a projectile for Test if one came into contact with the net, idk that it would work for Faust's items, but Bedman's needles/lightning, Elphelts shots, Ky's S Stun Edge, etc. would all be destroyed to give Test a better shot at winning zoning wars with their slow projectiles. In terms of actually feasible buffs, increase the range at which we get c.S rather than f.S, potentially shave a frame or two off both arbiters and let it snap to a succubus on screen, bypassing the minimum range requirements if set up right, while also allowing for a 214[S/H] like with 214[P/K] to have arbiter track normally. Maybe make 6H an overhead, make it 25 frames of startup to match with Bedman and Asuka's similar 6H overheads, remove the hkd and instead give it a big ground bounce so you can pick up with 236H or something. Idk, I'm not a pro player nor a game designer lol.
I think this character is Pretty Alright™️. Never played them in the older games, but their moveset seems pretty cohesive for the most part. They’re a mental stack character and they’re fantatic at that. Stain makes them able to get reward off of fast highs, lows, and grabs up close, and slightly slower highs, lows, and grabs from a distance. I’m sure the character falls off at the very top level but I’m chillin in celestial and local tournaments and don’t feel handicapped at all Edit: I also feel like you’re massively underrating how good being able to wall break off of throw is, that’s a massive buff
It's for sure not really an issue until you start competing against the top players, I still have lots of fun with them. But being able to convert off of stray hits is just not as unique a property anymore as it was in season 1. Also yeah I don't view the throw change very positively it has not really helped me much since the scaling is so terrible.
@ Idk I guess it would have been nice if you could decide whether or not to pop stain by holding grab like Baiken can do with tether (actually it’s pretty dumb that you can’t given they already set that precedent, I’ll give you that), but being able to get positive bonus and a stained wallbreak off of your most reliable corner option is still huge. The damage isn’t a lot, sure, but it’s more than grab. It’s basically a meterless RC after a throw and I can’t see that being a bad thing. As for the stray hits, it was far from unique in season 1; Nago and Ram were both base characters and faust’s afro was basically just stain state before stain state. I don’t think what the character does is as important as how they do it and how it feels to do it.
Romans 9:13 is a very difficult verse for us to understand because we are told that God loves all of us and that we all have value, but Esau being hated by God throws a cork in that… but I don’t think that ruins the whole second half of the Bible
I initially thought this was gonna be about visual design lol, I've always felt that strive Test should have more going on, even just compared to other strive movesets. I think a way to update Hitomi would be using crow, I HATE how crow literally does one thing lol. Have the crow land where Test is standing and the succubus can pop out an smack'em. I think that is visually noticeable enough, makes sense with how stain is applied and also creates some balance as that becomes a commitment to set up. I think the Air throw (which is sooo cool) and Arbiter when touching succubus also makes sense as stainers, and again works well with landing crow as you can still set stain in otherways its just not as straight forward. just an aside, 2:20 is.. idk, annoying feels harsh, but i didn't like it. Doesnt make me feel sympathetic and the script would be better without it. But really, who even asked?
God i love testement and i just want them to be C or B teir. It is the biggest shame of my life that they have always been low teir with their only good normals being 2k and 6p (r.i.p to a real one atleast the middle finger mod is still viable in the meta)
The real problem with Test's movest isn't that they have so few specials (look at Johnny, that guy basically has 1 offensive special and 3 utility based ones), the REAL problem is that 3 out of the 4 a situational as all hell (those being crow, teleport and arbiter), on top of that when you do have set-up to use them they can be very underwhelming (crow often times misses depending on the trajectory of the succubus like when the opponent is crouching at close range). They are also the only zoner that stuggles from converting at long range without stain (this wouldn't be an issue if low arbiter comboed from far slash on normal hit).
You're right that having a low number of special moves doesn't matter if your moves are versatile enough, but also yeah these ones definitely aren't lol. It's nice that Arbiter Sign works full screen now but you can still just jump or run past it. It's definitely no Mist Finer.
I agree stain should be more relevant, but id argue its more like shock state with Ky, its an extra thing to keep track of and gives you more payoff, not the core of the moveset
Not wrong but when I think bigger picture for movesets I'm thinking, "What makes this character unique?" That's typically how Arcsys approaches buffs too. Neither of those are unique to Testament. There's a good comparison though. Shock State is what I think of for Ky. That's what Arcsys decided to focus on when reworking Ky this patch.
As a z a t o player, even though this matchup feels so bad for me, I feel bad for what has happened to your character and the game surrounding it. They just don't want you to be good. PS please bring back the testament abs
Haven’t watched the video all the way yet (and I promise I will) but testament 6p deserved the nerf. That shit should not be able to hit five miles above and behind testament.
Testament is my least favorite matchup. It's boring. They have like 2 moves I find interesting and their design as a character seems shallow and shitty. Arc System Works. It's OK to make complex characters in a simple game, as long as it's fun and understandable. Also, air throw deserves so much more. I've legit seen it like 3 times total and it's so fucking cool
exorcists before going back to the psalms:
same name as me.. what the hell
+2
Just give them a new move Arcsys. Please.
I did NOT find any verses in this video
Jews: We’ve been trying to tell yall this shit for millenia!
Somebody took the "btw throw pops stain" joke to the logical conclusion. I like this video. Well Done
my forklifting goat needs some more love 🗣🔥🗣🔥

i have literally no idea how to fight testament becaue bearly anybody plays them and i still have a positive win rate
I agree, Baiken got a lot of help this time too so Test and Axl got left in the "Happy to not be Zato" club. Appreciate the support!

holy shit it’s the meat of golf herself
@@MeatGolf2if you super jump rensen there’s basically nothing he can do
I knew their kit was kinda gutted in strive but FOUR SPECIALS!?
Damn they lost their old school edge AND their move list...

Air gatlings already feel great so getting stain off of JD would make me never complain again
Okay but does the old Testament have Jesus in it?

It might be a skill issue on my part

I will never forgive them for what they did to Testament. Absolutely horrible redesign.

I wouldn't have cared if they actually compensated it somewhere else but a flat nerf to a low tier feels insulting.
