- A Texas bar owner (Dan Hedaya) learns about his wife's affair from a private detective he has hired.
Movie: Blood Simple (1984)
Directors: Joel and Ethan Coen
Actors in this scene: Dan Hedaya, M. Emmet Walsh
Fun fact: the Coen brothers wrote the role of private detective Loren Visser specifically for actor M. Emmet Walsh and they offered him the part without even auditioning him.

Rest in peace, M. Emmet Walsh. I don't know who played it sleazier here, him or Dan Hadeya. That suit deserved an Oscar for how bad it was.
RIP M. Emmett Walsh. I usually find a great character actor MUCH more interesting than a big star leading man. Mr. Walsh was one of the best and this was one of his best roles. Of course Dan Hedaya was pitch perfect in this scene and movie as well.
RIP. Blood Simple was one of the best neo-noirs due to the late M. Emmet Walsh's performance.
There's an interview with Mr. Walsh I saw (believe it's from a DVD of the film) where he says that shortly before he got the script for Blood Simple he'd gotten mad at his agent for passing on some offers without telling him about them, and told him he wanted to see everything that came in before any decision was made. If he hadn't insisted upon that, he might never have even seen the script.
Love how he's able to pick up the money without looking or standing up, like he's done it hundreds of times.
One thing I love about this scene is that the suspense builds even without the music, as you assume that the guy is going over to pick up and reach for his gun, but instead only gives him the money. Genius filmmaking
This films villain is basically the original Anton Chigurh
RIP to one helluva character actor, a seedy hit man in a scroungey old VW bug! LOVE IT.
You helped us forget from time to time just how much we hated our lives.
"Give me a call when you want to cut off my head…I can always crawl around without it."
The attention to detail feels vey intentionally diabolical. It's amazing.
One of the most entertaining character actors of the last half century.
Damn Straight
Both of them, actually.
how is he perpetually 65 for the past 40 years?
He is dead today!

😂😂😂IKR???

He's been putting it up his whole life, he just didn't know it.
HOLY SHIT
Call it

Which is why M Emmett Walsh's character is more evil than Anton Chigurh, he had his own moral code in killing
Mr. Walsh's character Visser has no code ...he's more heartless
That's why The PI Visser is the most evil villain in the Coen's brothers cavalcade of types
Unlike Cigurhh, he has no code
The smoke rings from Walsh when the man tells about the story about the messenger. Very impressive.
It was actually a female who did that
I just saw this movie today and my God that was one of my favorite parts
Rest in peace, Mr Walsh
Underrated? Yes
Barely watched? Yes

I swear this man has been in 80% of the films Ive seen. Absolute legend. Rest In Peace. ❤
I know where you can get those framed....what a line
Godspeed M. Emmet Walsh - my favourite character actor. Absolutely fucking terrifying in this film.
Dan Hedaya was the best part of this movie imo
2:40 Lol!
Walsh is a funny guy. That laugh lol.
I love him!
@@aurazero0 “Hahhah, that’s good! What rock to turnover! Very good!! Hahah!”
“Why’d you take these??”
But check out Walsh's slight facial twitch at 2:37. He was mad but hid it well and covered by laughing at Hedaya. M. Emmet Walsh is a great character actor.
Won the first IFC Best Actor Award in 1985
RIP M Emmett always a familiar face in movies
one of the best scenes in film history?
Rest in peace Emmet, loved you in Blade Runner.
Same. He was extremely memorable in any B-role he was in.
