I didn't listen to Howard Stern often (but I always tried to catch Robin and Howard doing the News) but GILBERT was a guest on Stern for close to a month and I wish that I had learned that sooner. Did I watch Gilbert all the time? No, but he loved having fun and even when Stern and the whack pack were goofing on Gilbert, he still laughed, just like in this video.

People, if you haven't yet seen Steve Buscemi's "Trees Lounge", do yourselves a favor. Steve directed it, and it's one of the best little movies I've ever seen. It also has a veritable who's who of actors you'll recognize from "The Sopranos", "Goodfellas", and other shows. Not to be missed.

Joe Pesci can do the same. I could see how someone would see them as comedy rolls in a non comedy film but they aren't quite on the level of being relegated to comic relief because they have better acting chops.

Independent films had been made for YEARS lol John Cassavetes was making independent films , a movie called “Halloween” released in 1978 ended up being the highest grossing independent horror film until a movie called “the Blair witch project “ (which you forgot to mention) beat Halloween to become the highest grossing independent film in 1999.
We went to the video store once a week and looked over all of the titles, picking up the boxes and reading the descriptions. You would do that several times for some movies until you finally decided it was "the day" to take it home, and then you would wonder why you never picked it up before because it was a really good film.

I had forgotten that character named Mink. I have since read the so-called "Snopes Trilogy" by Faulkner, and one of the side stories in that trilogy is about a man named Mink, Mink Snopes. As a former neighbor of his in Brooklyn, I can testify to how humble and cool he always was (and I imagine still is). Always genuinely pleasant and friendly -- the kind of guy I'd often see enjoying a slice at the local pizzeria.
Steve: "I just love working with the Coens, they're great guys!" So they cast him in a mivie where he's repeatedly referred to as a funny lookin' guy, who eventually gets an axe to the face and thrown in a woodchipper. I'd hate to get on their bad side 😄

Great actor, now I find he's a great storyteller. And the laugh of the other guys makes me lose it 🤣
Steve was priceless in Miller's Crossing. It is their second best movie. No Country For Old Men is their best.
I rented Miller's recently and couldn't get through it but will try again
@@kilgoretrout321 It will grow on you. It's a very well made movie. I have seen it many times. I even saw it on the big screen that used a 4k print of the movie.

Did you get Howard's OK to use Ronnie's laugh? It worked but, that's not stuff Howard lets slip.
