I'm sorry to hear about all the things that you've been through. I remember certain teachers who seemed to have a mean streak and I always wondered why they entered the field in the first place. Try to remember that we learn compassion through suffering. I'm curious, do you speak any Dutch and do you intend to continue your channel when you're living abroad? I can remember encountering only two or three people in my life who were disfluent and I'll be so much better prepared the next time because of your videos. It seems to me that you're a better teacher than some of the professional ones. Please keep up the good work. Also, having watched most of you videos, it seems that you come from a close knit and loving family who must have been your strength along the way. May God continue to bless you all.

My husband and I decided not to move to Holland after all. But I would continue my channel regardless!! I was raised speaking Dutch as well as English so I understand a lot of it.
I agree that teachers can be so heartless. And many of them don;t even understand stuttering! It shocks me. One of my teachers who didn't understand stuttering was about 70 years old and she had been a teacher for years!

What I can I say about stutter the problem is not US is what we think, I read at home alone I read clear without no stutter But at school or in public it's like a different person, WE fear what others could say about US.

I do NOT understand a teacher laughing at a student stuttering. I know it happens a lot, but, really: An adult whose profession it is to teach children??? How could they even find it funny? It's inexcusable. And there you are already terrified and too young to be able to say anything to the teacher....plus it sends a terrible message to the other kids in the class. It's just horrifying to me.

I totally agree! One of the teachers I had in 9th grade laughed at me and I could tell she was trying to hide it in but I'll never forget that and other kids started laughing too.

MinkaLovesPineapples Yeah, you'll never forget it. Of course not. People like that are not really meant to be teachers. And yet they are all over not even understanding that they have a kind of power that leaves these lifetime bad memories. Makes you want to go back and tell them. It does me, anyway.

I know how you feel. I went through the same thing in School. Kids can be cruel and un- sympathetic. Sometimes i would'nt go to School so i wouldnt have to get up and read, or try to talk.

stuttering is classed as a disability in the uk and in america, some people who stutter think that stuttering is a disability to them but for some they don't, but I don't know why people are ashamed of classing themselves as disabled, stuttering is a very hidden disability, just like learning disabilities are hidden and autism is very hidden too because it isn't a physical disability.

Yes, I am not ashamed at all of considering stuttering a disability. I agree with you that stuttering is very hidden. I went to doctor one time and was trying to request a speech therapist and she thought I didn't need it because I was having a "fluent" day and hardly stuttering on that particular day.

+MinkaLovesPineapples yeah it can be very unpredictable to know when your going to stutter or not, or if your going to have a good or bad day with your speech.

Try speaking like you're singing or making a rhythm. It helps and I assure you, it'll eventually disappear. Good luck

+MinkaLovesPineapples Well, I stuttered myself. Around a year ago, I went to a thepay where you learn a new speaking technique. It took and takes much time to Practice but I'm now stuttering-free. The technique decreases over time until you speak like every other. Unfortunately the therapy is in Germany.
