JANGBRiCKS the one thing that I hate about the black lion is that the hind legs are too bulky than the front legs even though it matches the leg size in voltron form
I just got this as I have always wanted the lion Voltron but never had one. It's simply amazing and even though it took me like 10 hours to complete it was a lot of fun to build. Thanks for the great review, I am super happy with the purchase and Voltron is now defending all my other nerd stuffs :-)
This set feels so much like LEGO. A lot of large animals and robots sold by LEGO feel hollow and by the books, because it used specialized mech pieces. But the lions are so colorful, massive and so many interesting builds with just small bricks. I wish mire sets were build this way
I've never really cared for the older Voltron series, but I was still excited to see this set. It looks sooooo good. I especially love the green and yellow lions. I'd love to see some sets based on the series Dreamworks is making, I love it.
My Dad was a huge fan of the original voltron show when he was a kid. When he first saw the set while we were in Legoland, he had a smile on his face about ten miles wide, and felt as if he was a child again. Sadly, we couldn’t get it, but his birthday is in a couple of months, so hopefully we can get our hands on this set for him!
I have to admit, this Lego Voltron set looks quite amazing, but if it would have been based on the newer series (that I love very much), I would have loved it even more! And the fact that you don't need to rebuild the entire thing to have the individual lions is a big plus, they just transform and create Voltron, very nice!
I personally think that it would be smart if they released the lions as individual sets. This way, for people who couldn't afford the full thing at one time, they could just buy the individual lions over time.
I was at the Lego store with my five year old and was checking out Ninjago and thought oh man does that remind me of Voltron. I wish they had a Lego Voltron. After spending a lot of time in the store and I was leaving, there in the corner was this Lego kit! I wanted this so bad but couldn’t justify the $185 they wanted. It was great seeing something that I watched and played with when I was five like my daughter. Maybe someday I’ll get it.
I'm a huge Voltron collector as well grow up watching every episode of Voltron when it came out. I'll be adding this masterpiece to my collection as well =) Go Voltron Force!!!
Back when I was a kid I made my own Voltron set out of my 80's Lego block sets. It wasn't pretty but it worked! One of the earliest creations I can recall as a kid, the nostalgia is 20/10 for me on this one.
I actually saw the entire show after purchasing this model. Top 5 best Lego sets ever in my opinion. But they should have included the paladins of Voltron with a stand!
I still can't believe this set is real! And I love seeing fans of the original source material review toys based on them. You've done this set a great service in your appraisal. I've been trying to convince myself to not buy this set, and then I made the mistake of watching your review. So thanks, again... Great review of an awesome set!
I’ve always adored the design of mechs like Voltron & I feel LEGO captured the design really well. This set looks amazing and I want it so bad, but it’s pretty pricey. Very understandable as it’s a large licensed set with so much going on in it
I got this set a few days ago, and it’s so good! It’s really bigger and heavier than I expected, this thing is hefty! Very well designed, would’ve loved more articulation but it’s understandable because of how sturdy they had to make this. Put it on my shelf with my small gundam kit collection.
Best review of this figure, thank you very much. I have already preordered it, but seeing a proper review is always nice. Imho this is one of the best sets LEGO have ever created.
A great set in my opinion. I definitely enjoyed the build. It is also packaged in a way that you can build the lions in whatever order you prefer & nice instructions included for combining them.
I'm not a fan of the show, but I'm super happy lego made something like this available. Finally they're starting to understand the adult market for LEGO
If you want articulation on a voltron that separates to the lions, check out the mini-pla. It's more gundam than lego, but you still have to build it. It has knees, ankles, elbows, proper shoulders, not just swivels. It's spectacular. The only downside is that it's only 5-6" tall.
Got mine for Christmas and just took time this weekend to build it - Took about 7.5 hours and was a breeze. Worst part was putting them together to form the robot. The legs are each lion kept popping off. Great build and great set
I was never a huge fan of Voltron, although the new Netflix series is excellent. But when I saw this for the first time I knew it was a must own for me. It's just very special and unique. I tend to gravitate to the pop culture sets (Ghostbusters, Scooby Doo, Tron, Wall-E, etc. and this will make an excellent addition to my collection. It can't ship fast enough.
Unrelated to this video because I couldn't comment on the Jang City update, but I really like the way you finished the elevated train station! I love interior details, so even though it may be a little alley, it's still nice to see it tiled with figures inside. Awesome work as usual! Can't wait to see what you'll do with your Planetary Defense builds.
Totally epic. Cant wait for it to get to my house. A few downsides, but considering the enginnering behind this and the fact it took several years to design is impressive in itself!
People need to stop complaining about a lack of articulation in lego mechs. I once had the ninjago electromech set, and it could barely stand up. And keep in mind, this is absolutely colossal, so any leg articulation would send it crashing off a shelf into a million little pieces.
but compare them to exo-force, full arm and leg articulation, Lego mechs have gone down hill since then. But the Exo-force designers still make some good mechs, like the electromech. watch this video, its great and does talk about modern lego mechs ruclips.net/video/X4jjtWF3tkw/видео.html
When my son was young we bought him the Japanese made "GOLION" from Bandai; the original. They were available long before the Voltron TV show came out in Canada. The Voltrons that came out after the show was a hit were cheaply made in China and Taiwan. There were even some really bad Chinese made knockoffs. - This set brings back memories of my son playing with his set. I will have to get one for me and him. Thanks for posting.
If I were designing a set like this, I think I would have used ratcheting joints for the hips, knees, and shoulders. Though, I'm not 100% certain they'd be structurally sound.
"I'll be displaying it long term in my private collection" while I have complete respect for the privacy portion of that statement, I can't help but be curious what Jang's private collection looks like.
Honestly, I could totally see Lego in a few years coming up with a Voltron set where they sell each Lion individually at Mini-Fig scale, and if you buy all of the sets, they all connect together to form mini-fig scale Voltron.
I am not familiar with the Voltron cartoon but this is a great display piece, the concept seems to be a mix between transformers and another 80s cartoon which was called either G-Force or Battle of the Planets depending where in the world you lived, this is a build I will certainly consider buying, thanks for the review Jang.
As I am not a Voltron fan this set has a great design but I really do wish at least one of the Lions had an interior/ Control Panel. Even the Torso would be fine
Holy moly, man... catching an image of the set juxtaposed alongside a standard minifigure (in this case, the sig-fig) really helps to put this into perspective and whisk away any doubts that I might have had. Nice review!
I'm really impressed with this. It actually is one of the better looking combining Voltrons even in spite of being made of LEGO with no unique parts. Also this thing would have to be like twice as big to be accurate minifig scale lol.
If you turn the blue parts on the sword that get in the way, outward like the ones above them, it lets him hold it at a better angle and still looks pretty show accurate.
Cinco A Mano That series is in limbo atm so either Hasbro doesn't care about Kreo or the line has simply gone the way of Hasbro's previous Built to Rule line meaning it's dead.
Cinco A Mano Kreo has been dead for Years. They were at the dollar store a while. A Lego Set would be awesome! I think it should include: Optimus, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave. G1 Plz!
Not going to happen because Hasbro already has its own competing brick construction system. Kreo is kind of dead now though, but still, wouldn't bet on Hasbro licensing out their property to Lego anytime soon.
You know what would be cool if you had one of the lions being dismantled in your Lego city like it's an alien spaceship and/or you could have one that's crashed somewhere on the city or it could be crashed in the side of a building
The Price to parts ratio is just fantastic... when i first saw this I thought they'd price it around 250 and over but the licensed theme clearly wants the sales
On the subject of minifigures being included, I think there is a slight possibility that they could have included the microfigures that were able to be placed inside the heads, but I'm sure they thought of that too.
I bought this yesterday (Sept 3) SEALED at a big box outlet store for $123 (Canadian with tax), I got her to knock off $20 because the box was a little damaged though.
Can't wait for mine to arrive. I had the original toy as a kid, and my favorite lions were the green and yellow. It looks like that will still be the case with the Lego model.
Pauvlychenko Stupid Hasbro and their Kreo brand are too busy making ugly and not transformable TF sets and they wont let Lego end the suffering of Kreo Transformers :/
Initial impressions after having this.... 1. Assemble time may take half a day. No kidding. Make sure you have free time. 2. There's good attention to detail here. Just ignore the somewhat cartoonish face. 3. The toy is huge. Could be 14-16 inches tall. Bigger than a lot of other Voltron figures. 4. Not really ideal for playing, but is really good for display.
Pressed for time? See my *QUICK* overview of the set on my newer channel at ruclips.net/video/q2L3l4c5e2c/видео.html
JANGBRiCKS Box dimensions?
JANGBRiCKS is it bigger than the marvels sanctum sancturum set 😶😶?

Eli J. Brony That’s a pretty good idea
I was at the Lego store with my five year old and was checking out Ninjago and thought oh man does that remind me of Voltron. I wish they had a Lego Voltron. Just ordered mine, can't wait. I love Legos. I love Voltron. Now it's the best of both worlds.
Same here.
I'm a huge Voltron collector as well grow up watching every episode of Voltron when it came out. I'll be adding this masterpiece to my collection as well =) Go Voltron Force!!!
I didn’t know „Voltron“ and when I first saw this set I thought: „Just a boring huge robot“ but that you can turn it into the lions is great!
Back when I was a kid I made my own Voltron set out of my 80's Lego block sets. It wasn't pretty but it worked! One of the earliest creations I can recall as a kid, the nostalgia is 20/10 for me on this one.
Thanks for the video. Ordered my set online. I havnt played with Lego since the 70's/80's so a great way to come back to the hobby.
imo, *they should've also added the pilots for each lions,* plus they *should have made the Voltron's eyes light up by using the light up brick.*
Must. Have. Two. One to build and one to store away. I loved Voltron, He-Man, M.A.S.K., etc. Talk about 80's nostalgia.
I actually saw the entire show after purchasing this model. Top 5 best Lego sets ever in my opinion. But they should have included the paladins of Voltron with a stand!
I love the box art on this set.
I still can't believe this set is real! And I love seeing fans of the original source material review toys based on them. You've done this set a great service in your appraisal. I've been trying to convince myself to not buy this set, and then I made the mistake of watching your review. So thanks, again... Great review of an awesome set!
I love this set this set is probably my persnol favourite set from all of the lego set and of all time
I’ve always adored the design of mechs like Voltron & I feel LEGO captured the design really well. This set looks amazing and I want it so bad, but it’s pretty pricey. Very understandable as it’s a large licensed set with so much going on in it
Your video managed to answer ALL of my questions I had about this LEGO set so thank you for that.
I got this set a few days ago, and it’s so good! It’s really bigger and heavier than I expected, this thing is hefty! Very well designed, would’ve loved more articulation but it’s understandable because of how sturdy they had to make this. Put it on my shelf with my small gundam kit collection.

as a child my Voltron was given away to Goodwill unbeknownst to me. i will be getting this with no hesitation. wonderful review as always Jang!
Wow! That is awesome! It's bigger than I thought it would be
Was never a Voltron fan growing, but this would be a really neat display set. Thanks for sharing!!!
If you want articulation on a voltron that separates to the lions, check out the mini-pla. It's more gundam than lego, but you still have to build it. It has knees, ankles, elbows, proper shoulders, not just swivels. It's spectacular. The only downside is that it's only 5-6" tall.

I haven't realized till now how huge this set is.😮
This looks amazing. Now I just want a Legendary Defender version.
This is an impressive design accomplishment. Also as a child from the era, this is a nostalgia monster. Love the small details and accuracy.
Do you why Voltron was mostly in space?
Because yellow and blue lions were sick of eating dirt.
Most impressive designed set by lego in a long time if not ever! Huge respect!
I saw a project on Lego Ideas which was a mini figure scale Voltron head. It was huge.
Jang, will you ever review the yellow submarine set?
Unrelated to this video because I couldn't comment on the Jang City update, but I really like the way you finished the elevated train station! This is the first Lego set I purchased as an adult
People need to stop complaining about a lack of articulation in lego mechs. I once had the ninjago electromech set, and it could barely stand up. And keep in mind, this is absolutely colossal, so any leg articulation would send it crashing off a shelf into a million little pieces.
Agreed! They've clearly never built one like it!
Peter Allen yes, exactly
but compare them to exo-force, full arm and leg articulation, Lego mechs have gone down hill since then. But the Exo-force designers still make some good mechs, like the electromech. watch this video, its great and does talk about modern lego mechs ruclips.net/video/X4jjtWF3tkw/видео.html

Would have been nice to have the 5 pilots as micro figures at least
Got mine yesterday and spent about 8 hours building it. It's a fantastic set that will take a place of honor among my other voltron collectibles
I didn't know anybody cared or waned this set. I sure didn't but I'm glad its being appreciated!
you obviously have no idea who voltron is or you're just plain ignorant. Tonnes of people want this!
"I'll be displaying it long term in my private collection" while I have complete respect for the privacy portion of that statement, I can't help but be curious what Jang's private collection looks like.
If he showed what it looked like it wouldn't be private lol.
I never was a fan is of Voltron, but this looks awesome and I would totally get, and if I didn't want the Voltron stuff, I can use these many pieces
Love it!!! Already purchased on LEGO store. Brings me back to my childhood in the 80’s.
Black lion looks like he's wearing cargo pants haha
Honestly, I could totally see Lego in a few years coming up with a Voltron set where they sell each Lion individually at Mini-Fig scale, and if you buy all of the sets, they all connect together to form mini-fig scale Voltron.
I have not known anything about Voltron before this. But I like Lego and to some extent I like Transformers and now I really like this set. :D
snagged this bad boy yesterday on vacation. Its still in its box until i get home to open it. I cant wait for the build.
I am not familiar with the Voltron cartoon but this is a great display piece, the concept seems to be a mix between transformers and another 80s cartoon which was called either G-Force or Battle of the Planets depending where in the world you lived, this is a build I will certainly consider buying, thanks for the review Jang.
MarkoBricksUK and
The original show which this set is from was from the 80s but there is also the reboot going on now.
Wow, of all the people who review this set, Jang was the one most familiar with Voltron. I doubt most people expected that
As I am not a Voltron fan this set has a great design but I really do wish at least one of the Lions had an interior/ Control Panel. Even the Torso would be fine
Holy moly, man... catching an image of the set juxtaposed alongside a standard minifigure (in this case, the sig-fig) really helps to put this into perspective and whisk away any doubts that I might have had. Nice review!
this is the coolest set ever
This is definately one of the best produced sets, in my opinion, but its pricey.
I'm really impressed with this. It actually is one of the better looking combining Voltrons even in spite of being made of LEGO with no unique parts. Also this thing would have to be like twice as big to be accurate minifig scale lol.
I *love* Voltron so I'll probably get this set. Good review!
If you turn the blue parts on the sword that get in the way, outward like the ones above them, it lets him hold it at a better angle and still looks pretty show accurate.
I like how easily buildable the arms are. Upon the release of the official photo, I was able to build an arm lion without instructions.
I'm not a voltron fan but I want this it's really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really cool
Bought this set today !!! On sale for Cyber Monday!!! SOOO EXCITED TO PUT IT TOGETHER!!
love the Go lion, but I really think a megazord would have been more fun.
So wished they included minifigs too
This set really makes me want LEGO to work out something with Hasbro so we could get a Transformers Devastator or Bruticus set.
TheComicCrafter that's impossible. Hasbro has its own building block system toys, Kreo.
TheComicCrafter yeah great idea!!!!!
They could do G1!
G1 Plz!

I loved this show
Let's just hope that we can get a Lego transformers or robotech set
the black lion is so beefy!
Freaking awesome! it's just as shame it didn't enclude all of the Lego voltron force .
I'Vve been looking forward to this video
Cant wait for mine to arrive. Thanks for the great look at it!
You know what would be cool if you had one of the lions being dismantled in your Lego city like it's an alien spaceship and/or you could have one that's crashed somewhere on the city or it could be crashed in the side of a building
I have never seen Voltron, but I would be lying if I said I didn't love the look of this set.
I am so freaking excited for this!! Take my MONEY!!!
OH LAWD that black lion THICC
Add this to your city as an alien invasion!! Keep going with your amazing reviews!! 👍
The Price to parts ratio is just fantastic... when i first saw this I thought they'd price it around 250 and over but the licensed theme clearly wants the sales
dude they did an amazing job building this beautiful
It'd be cool if you could compare it to the UCS Hulkbuster or some of the Lego Ninjago Movie mechs to see the size comparison.
This is an amazing build! It’s huge compared to a mini figure 🤯
On the subject of minifigures being included, I think there is a slight possibility that they could have included the microfigures that were able to be placed inside the heads, but I'm sure they thought of that too.
They should have given us 5 Micro-figs.
I'm a fan of Voltron. This Lego piece will go nicely next to my 80's diecast Voltron 👍
I bought this yesterday (Sept 3) SEALED at a big box outlet store for $123 (Canadian with tax), I got her to knock off $20 because the box was a little damaged though.
Great review and comparison with the actual toy Voltron. I'll definetly have to get one to display with my childhood Voltron.
YES! You also have the Panosh Place Voltron. Inaccurate as it is, it it MY Voltron.
This looks great! Now how about some Robotech/Macross VF-00 to VF-26
Can't wait for mine to arrive. I had the original toy as a kid, and my favorite lions were the green and yellow. It looks like that will still be the case with the Lego model.
Now imagine how huge the model would be if it was made to be compatible with minifigures.
It would be epic!
Buy two of this set, add some of your own parts and see if you can come up with a version that accommodates pilots
This set gives me hopes for a Megazord or Transformers sets.
Pauvlychenko Stupid Hasbro and their Kreo brand are too busy making ugly and not transformable TF sets and they wont let Lego end the suffering of Kreo Transformers :/
In 2011, Hasbro/Takara started Kre-O construction sets of Transformers . Mattel / Megabloks already makes Megazord construction sets.
Bought it on Monday, finished it today. Amazing set, I absolutely loved the build and it looks superb on display :)
Now we need Lego ideas Gundam
Ro Snap! Yes give me Gundam wing Zero and Deathscythe that would be absolutely sick imagine if they did those 5 gundams and maybe the tallgeese
There are several Gundam Projects on Lego Ideas that you can support, but they range in quality
Gundam is way too violent for it to ever be made into LEGO.
DID SOMEONE SAY GUNDAM? COUNT ME IN!
This looks awesome. I supporters the original project and it looks as if not much was changed.
Nostalgia just sold me this lego. I love it
Great review! I might consider picking this up for myself.
So COOL! Although probably out of my price range my B’day is coming up! Great video/channel Jang!!
