    Thanks Frank! I'm following your natural system and did not medicate my birds at all for the YB races. They're doing fine. One of them won the 3rd place in CJC combine for the 100 mile race last week out of 2463 pigeons.

    I'm glad I followed your advice and did not medicate the birds after panting only on a 5 minutes flight
    They seem to be happy and healthy

    That is very good Frank yes my loft has little Dust no feather bloom dust! That can affect your birds as same with us in the Lungs!. Good healthy birds Frank cool.

      Much dust can bother the pigeons. Better to try to keep the dust down. My lofts are bit dusty much of the time and the birds still fly well. Less dust is better of course.

    Thanks, Frank! This video helped me a lot. I was worried about them panting after a few minutes of flying. I also never medicate and I was worries about some respiratory disease or something, but they fly just well if they stay up longer, and they do not pant in that case, just as you mentioned. Dry eyes, nose, clean throat, also. Again, very helpful video! Thank you!

    Pigeons don't have sweat glands, panting is only a way of regulating their body temperature. You're right, no need to medicate. 👍

    You know, some of my old Roller bloodlines here can routinely fly 8 to 10 hours straight without pushing them hard, but it's not uncommon to see them pant heavy on a short 15 or 30 minute fly if I pull them down with the feed. I believe you're correct that it's really just a sort of physical reaction to a warm-up or maybe even a nervous reaction, as they don't do it after a long duration fly. I think maybe if we're keeping the birds hungry to have control over them, we're almost tricking their bodies into thinking they've worked much harder than normal, much like Pavlov who could make his dogs salivate on command by making them think they were hungry when they had actually just been fed.

      Yes they can. If they wattle is off colored or the eye cold is not too bad I will let the pigeon recover on its own. Usually the pigeons immune system if strong can over come a respiratory problem with rest and some time.

    • @FrankMcLaughlinPigeons

      I am not sure about the question. I usually ship the pigeons doing well each week and try about 1/2 new birds each week. I do not worry about panting if everything else looks good.

    • @craig7555
      @craig7555 Год назад +1

      Not for me the black tip on the tongue is one of the best sign I’ve seen had a hen the same black tip and the darker the tip got the better it raced winning numerous first prizes and it passed the same trait to its daughter and on numerous occasions they were 1st and 2nd swooping place race after race 👍

    • @BoscheindFlyers

      I am agree with Frank. The black spot of the tongue don't mean anything, it's a fairy tale that's not good.

    • @FrankMcLaughlinPigeons

      It is much too early to start feeding for the racing season. Right now give the pigeons 30% barley and 70% 14 to 16% protein mix. Use this through training and switch to the racing feed about a week or 10 days before the first race.

      When I wean the babies until about two months old I give them 100% Champion Mix because they are still growing and starting to molt. When I want them to start flying well I add 30% barley. They can stay on this until about 10 days before the race season.
