Well, when I looked up "How to make wings." I was expecting dinner recipes. Also how are furries so talented when making their fur suits?! It baffles me!

luna studios buying would cost more but making is harder so it just depends
Im making mine right now but I still have to buy stuff. Commissions are expensive but are well made. You have to have measurements and a ref sheet. There might be a couple more things the maker might ask you but that’s about it. I don’t have an online paying account so I’m gonna have to make mine
Since my character is much more of a realistic style I love the fact these wings aren't just those small cartoony wings (although those kind are cute it just doesn't fit the kind of style I want) I love all the detail and if/when I make a full fursuit I'll definitely try doing something like this!

Hey, could I see your wings that you made??
Sewing tip: Clip your curves and you will have a MUCH easier time with getting curves to lay flat.
Clipping a curve, is making little slits in the seam allowance perpendicular to the seam around a curve, so the fabric lays flatter.
Just be super careful not to cut too deep or you'll go right through your stiching

I think I saw a bug wing method for dolls on a video a few months ago but I'm not sure how it would be translated to a larger scale.
The person took wire to make the wing shape then used special thin plastic to make the membranes. I believe it was a Dollightful video.

@@KiwiAndCompany the type of plastic she uses is just iridescent cellophane, and this method does work for full scale wings if you use clothing hanger wire or a similarly stiff wire
If ur looking for non transparent then perhaps a back and magnets to attach it add straps to the back then take cardboard(maybe) and cut it in the right shape and attach iridescent (or whatever you prefer) fabric to it and you can wear any normal shirt, then the straps and back then a thinner shirt and use magnets but it might fall off, i don’t do this though it’s just an idea

I have been a furry for like 2 years now, it all started in the summer and the digitigrade feet paw vid was the first ever furry video that I watched and that got me into the furry fandom. Thank you for being such a huge part of my development.
Another great tutorial! I’ll definitely use it when I make my Dutchie suit. I was so sick of hearing ‘only do chibi wings because big wings are hard to make and break a lot’ when what I wanted was a pair just like these! Keep creating, it’s appreciated by so many of us!

When you did one wing and you don’t have the foam for the “skeleton” :’)
You can always just find a replacement for the skeleton or go to a craft store...
I want to make wings that are super Fluffy using fluffy fur fabric for it so that it'll look more like white feathers.
Fur fabric can look like feathers and I think that they would most likely look like feathers on a baby bird...
I might have to get someone to help me make these wings...

The job with the Minky is amazing! It's such a difficult material to work with, and the end product usually suffers from this, but nevertheless your wing was flawless! It's astounding how beautiful that wing is, and I've never seen a better job on it.

You can wear ears,tail, and even make custom wings with a adjustable shoulder strap so you can wear it when you are older... Then you can get a partial fursuit later on so that you can still be able to use your wings with it... I'm hoping to get wings but I don't know what type of materials I want to use. I want all black angel style wings so that I can have a angel wolf. I have the ears and tail I need already and I also want to get white wings for my bunny costume. I made bunny ears, a bunny tail, and bunny fingerless gloves then I'll eventually get wings I can wear with it...
Being a kid friendly furry that can sew helped me be able to have some of the furry stuff I own...
Also if you can't sew you can always find some family member, friend, friend's family member, or someone else you know that can sew to help you make them...

i really like how much you build up the form on these. a lot of suit/costume wings i've seen are a bit loose/flimsy looking, but these have some good structure added in multiple places and seem like they'd last a good long while. i really appreciate the amount of detail you add as well ^^

I noticed when you were sewing the minky for the wings, the feathers often would go in all directions making it hard to sew straight. I recommend using a walking foot which prevents A LOT of slipping of the minky. It helps a lot for me and saves a ton of pinning time. Just a quick tip! ^w^

:00 tysm!! My main sona has some big ol flappers so I was really confused as to how I would make them but this helps a lot! I think ill probably try to make edits to make it more personalized to my character and maybe even have the wings fold forwards a bit if I can.

Might cut the EVA foam into the individual bones, and add wire to the floppy foam to get it to hold its shape when folded

They're really cute! Tip for glueing down elastic; sew a piece of non-stretchy fabric on the designated centimeters of elastic first, before glueing it down. That way the elastic can't ever pull itself loose. ♥

Thinking about making a large fabric wing based on my wings dimensions so I can slide the sewn fabric cover of sorts over it, it seems like it'd be much more neat than what I have, which is just hot glued fabric at the moment

Why am I watching this? I'm not a furry nor someone with the skills most people who are furrys seem to have (seriously why does it feel like every furry is so skilled?! I'm wondering whether it would be possible and what you think it would take to have the straps underneath the wearer's shirt and to attach the wings by a strong magnet. Or maybe there's even something else I could do. I just don't prefer the look of the straps with my character!

You could probably cut slits in a shirt, and thread the elastic through them before you finish it off. I've never made anything like this, but it seems like that would be the easiest.
