Gottfried David Gfrerer - Made by Hand | Slide Guitar Open G Minor Tuning

- This song is about my grandfather who spent most of his life out in the woods as a woodcutter.
I recorded it live in the attic of our old farmhouse. In the back you can see piles of those old tools they would have used back then, when everything was made by hand. The guitar is a wooden National Triolian from 1929.

LYRICS
Bowed down by age
He walks along the snowy way
One can hardly see the tracks
Army jacket, alpine boots
Sound of snow crunching underfoot
He slowly turns and looks back
There goes a relic of the past
You might wonder how long he’ll last
There goes a witness of the time
When everything was made by hand
So many miles, day by day
Hauling logs on a wooden sleigh
He never backed down
The axe is always sharp and clean
The farthest place he’s ever been
Was the nearby town
Drudgery has left its scars
Hands tough like boxing gloves
But eyes still bright and clear
I can hear the old folks say:
“Work like a horse and plough ahead!”
He walks away and slowly disappears

好棒的音樂旋律與歌聲呀!👍👍👍
Beautiful song and tribute. The story telling evokes images of an almost forgotten time. Your grandad would be honoured and proud, I’m sure.
Thank you so much for your kind words and listening!
Even the guitar is a 'relic of the past' - it's getting close to 100 years old and sounds fabulous.
Thank you :)
Brilliant song, sublime performance. Puts me in mind of Knopfler around the Communiqué period, and that really is no bad thing.
Thank you so much!
I am in awe of this beautiful tribute to your grandfather.
Al, thank you so much!
That’s probably the best resonator video on YT. You would do a great thing for us untalented wannabe players here if you can do a brief tutorial. There’s lot of technique going on there but you make it look simple.. and YT lacks good fingerstyle lessons..
Thank you so very much for your kind words Marco! I will see what I can do...maybe guitar tabs?
@@gottfriedgfrerer have you ever published the tabs for this? Absolutely great.
@@rvermilye Thanks for your kind words, I'm very pleased! Yes, you can download the TAB from my website for free. The link is in the video description. Have fun!
How does this only have 17k views is beyong my comprehension. People don't know how to appreciate musicians anymore.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I think, it is the best open tuning song i have ever heard
Thank you so very much!
So schön!!

Thank you!
Isn't open G minor woth a capo on 3rd open Em?
I think that should be B-flat minor.
Do you listen to Martin Simpson at all ?
Deborah, yes I did, when I was young. He is a great musician!
Just curious of the recording device that you use in this video ?
It's a Zoom H6 portable recorder. The microphone for the guitar is a Groove Tubes GT33, which I got from my friend Dakota Dave Hull some years ago. The vocal mic is a Rode NT2-A.
@@gottfriedgfrerer Thanks a lot for the answer we were discussing on Slide & Resonators forum how excellent and true to the instrument it sounds. Hats off it's just a beautiful song
Do you do audio and video separately, or can you plug recorder into camera?
Where can i get tabs?
The tabs will be available on my website in the next couple of days for free download.
@@gottfriedgfrerer it is awesome
