Mahomes had 400 Total Yards and 2 TDs… Yes it’s a team game, yes the defense was just as important as Mahomes. But the chiefs had a little over 450 yards of total offense, and Mahomes had 400 of them.
You gotta keep in mind, you are comparing 11 dudes to one dude. Like are you gonna give MVP to anyone on that team besides Mahomes? I don't think so. Jones was great, but he wasn't the sole reason the defense was great. Mcduffie and Sneed were great too, but again they weren't the sole reason the defense was great. The offense lived and died through Mahomes and he came through in the end. That's why he gets the praise he does. The defense kept them in the game, but Mahomes finished it. The defense didn't drive down the field and score the touchdown to win it all. Mahomes did. And I truly think he carried the offense yesterday. I mean he was their leading rusher. Totally deserved MVP, imo. More so than his past MVP's. Pacheco fumbled twice, one after a BEAUTIFUL pass by Mahomes. Kelce had 1 catch for ONE yard in the first half, Fred had a clamp on him. And the OL was getting destroyed all night until the niners got tired. So its tough to say if their early struggles were even Mahomes' fault.
You had the best defense in the nfl this year😂 that's not vulnerable. Literally Mahomes was a game manager this year for 99% of the season. It was like the 2019 49ers with Jimmy G relying on the defense all year..
@@SoloDoloTokerit was like Tom Brady’s 1st 3 sb relying on the defense.. yet the difference is mahomes wr led the league in drops.. and he didn’t have a 1,000 yd rusher..

His WR had the same amount of TDs as he did. 🤡 When Josh Allen loses playing perfect for 55 minutes he isn't clutch but when Purdy misses multiple third down passes and mr "#1 against the blitz" looked like a deer in headlights it's not his fault.
As a broncos fan, under no circumstances short of collapse should the 49ers try to get a better qb on the off hope he'll be able to beat mahomes. If you have a franchise guy, keep him, especially if hes cheap.
I give credit where credit is due. Chiefs won. But I don't want to hear a single thing about Brock Purdy's ability to win a SB. Kid is playing in his first SB, as a starter, and going up against the defending SB Champs, who happen to own the best QB of this generation. And all he did was play clean, make some clutch passes under pressure, and put the team in a position to win (twice!) Perhaps if we don't have a muffed punt return which gave KC their best field position of the game (and only TD in regulation) we would potentially be having a completely different discussion today. The kids good enough to win a Super Bowl (period). It's heart breaking, but he did the team solid in my opinion
Not really a "muffed" punt return. The ball bounced off #28's ankle and so McCloud had to go and get the ball. But he should have landed on the ball instead of trying to scoop it. That play was primarily on number 28 (I think his name is Luttle - a rookie).
They shouldn't have been. Any QB in the league could have taken them to NFCC/SB with that stacked offense, if he can't win with these weapons then he never will. Stacked offenses like that rarely ever happen.
Ironically purdy kept the niners in the game. He isn’t even close to the reason they lost. CMC did his thing but fumbled then chiefs locked him down 2nd half. Wrs got clamped (other than Jennings). O line was getting ravaged by jones. Shanahan falling apart at the end. Purdy is a good qb
This is why mahomes does OTAs Mini Camp Training camp hes is always evolving his craft which gives him the competitive edge even 2 minutes drills in August helps out a lot a the end of the year
Honestly we just watched the team with the least talented offense I've ever seen win a superbowl beat the team with the most talented offensive weapons I've ever seen on one team. It really was impressive af
They have the least talented offense yet they have the best QB ever, the best TE ever, one of the best o lines in football and a HOF offensive minded coach? Are you dumb?
The thing that I think isn't talked about is the cerebral component of football that Purdy could get better in. The ability to process the game and handle things better situationally I think could absolutely improve, which in the QB position is huge. It's why Manning is considered a legend is cause he won a lot of downs presnap. That can grow and improve as time goes on if he becomes a student of the game and learns from Kyle.
Same with Drew Brees. He developed a great understanding of the offense and how to shift protections pre snap. Thats purdys next phase of his development. Only question is if Kyle lets him take more ownership of the offense. Calling 11 plays for Deebo against an all pro nickle corner is malpractice.
He can definitely get better! He probably doesn't need to learn from Kyle, tho. Kyle didn't even know the overtime rules, which honestly cost them the game.
@@apostolostvable Definitely. Brees became great at making calls presnap. There was a good example of an area he can grow in. I believe the 49ers had to call a timeout because they didn't like the way the setup of the protection, but Romo pointed out that they got the matchups they wanted and normally a more veteran QB would simply switch protection and run the play or have the WRs run shorter routes to get the ball out quick.
@@therealmisterj20 Yeah, that's fair. I didn't even realize that until later today when I watched some more sports talk about it. Plus, I think Kyle is a bit limited in his scheming and is very much locked to the system he has built. If Purdy is gonna hit that next level, I think it might have to be with a new OC coming in that Shanahan will allow to add a dimension of free-style to the current system and teach Purdy presnap reads and adjustments or he will need a new HC altogether.
I’m sorry I think Mahomes is the best QB possibly ever lol. But this game was a defensive game for both teams. And those players should truly be highlighted. Both defenses owned the game.
You know Mahomes means what he says cause, after MVS made the mistake that cost them yards, he went back to MVS right away to let him get back those negative yards.
Don’t FORGET!!! Nick had Chiefs over 49’ers LAST YEAR AS WELL SINCE THE PRESEASON!! If not for the Purdy injury, this would have been two straight preseason predictions correct 😂!
I'm a chiefs fan! Was raised in KS and MO most my life. This was a exciting game and had me sweating all night even felt like I stroked out a few times lol! The 49ers came to play and did. I was born in Cali and as much as I dislike the politics there I have a lot of respect for this team !
Gotta give credit where credit is due & to these guys points Mahomes working with a less stellar cast of players than say 68% of the NFL is pretty darn impressive & a testament to his greatness & this is from a 9ers fan! Could you imagine if Mahomes had our roster??
Purdy is constrained by Shanahan's offense. Add some designed roll outs and he can make a big leap. His biggest plays of the season are doing just that
People will make this all about Mahomes, and rightly so, but I think Andy Reid is a more important piece of the dynasty. I mean, Mahomes threw 6 touchdowns during this playoff run and 5 of them were absolute layups. Plus the last two in the Eagles Super Bowl. That designed run that Reid called on 4th and inches was utter brilliance. This guy runs an offense that was getting MECOLE HARDMAN running wide open in the end zone while Deebo Samuel can hardly get two yards of separation on the other side.
How’s Mecole Hardman working out for you Nick? You had tons to say about him when he was was on the Jets, now he just caught the game winning TD in the Super Bowl.
What bothers me is the media constantly gushing over these quarterbacks whenever this year was 100% all about the Chiefs defence 😑. I can barely take it seriously anymore
truly a game of inches. So close to losing last year and this year as well but managed to pull it out. is it luck or just being that good? probably a combo of both but just enjoy the ride.
Brock Purdy didn't cost them the game & Mahomes isn't the reason they won the game. It was a battle of defenses that came down to the last couple of possessions. And we all know who's gonna win that battle if it comes down to one last drive.
Very Brady esque Super Bowl. Getting lucky with a muffed punt and relying on defense. Then when they needed one drive at the end of the game Mahomes pulled through. That’s how Brady’s whole career went, and it’s cool to see Pat be able to win like this too
No quarterback is catching up to Mahomes right now but I remember him losing to the Bucs in the Superbowl. A good defense against him and a bad offensive line is his kryptonite. He’s human.
The one question I have is when you have a quarterback that puts up the type of season that he did with an arm that was just recovering from a major injury, how much better does he really need to get as long as you have a decent system around him?
The Niners ran into the NFL second best defense with Patrick mahomes as it's QB. That's tough sledding Purdy walked off the field with less than 2 minutes to go with the lead . As a lifelong niners fan this is a tough one mahomes is one of the greatest to ever lace em up congrats to the chiefs.
I’m a Ravens fan who doubted Brady for years…. To spend years doubting Mahomes would be defined as insanity. I’m not going through that pain again. I just accept that he will dominate and the next 2 decades will be easy on my soul 😂😂🤷🏿♂️
Nick is going to say “same time next year” as he daps up Mahomes at the parade. Pat will say “yessir” as he finishes the handshake. Maybe throw in a “never a doubt” or two.

Any QB in the league could make the NFCC/SB on the niners with that stacksd offense and defense. If purdy cant win with a major weapon at every position, then he isnt ths guy. Its only going to get harder for him as pieces leave - next year will likely be his last chance.
9:30 why do people keep talking about the Deebo throw, he scored a TD on the same few plays later. I heard that play on every sport show. That’s shows the purdy’s unfair criticism all through the year
Deebo can't run routs and is terrible vs man coverage. Kyle should know this and not have had him as the primary. Purdy when targeting Deebo 3-11, when targeting everyone else 20-27. Purdy wasn't the problem, Kyle didn't adjust.
@@OppressTheOppressor-rl3sv Deebo can't run routes? He was wide open for touchdowns twice last night and one should have been interference on the DB since he had Deebo's arm pinned and the other Purdy overthrew him in the back of the end zone.

Yes it’s a team game, yes the defense was just as important as Mahomes.
I think Butker should be the MVP. Not just the game but for the season.
@@sheilaporter7062 Yeah, a guy who plays less than 5% of all downs should be MVP, that makes sense.
In a year where the Chiefs looked the most vulnerable, they still found a way to win the SB.
The league should be petrified.
Lets see if they can keep chris jones. If they can't afford him this defense will take a major setback. He is incredible
I mean their only loss came when they were on fire so that’s not a good analogy however now I believe everyone should know, don’t fk wit patty
Were they good when they played the bucs, that Chiefs team was fire.
Chris Jones and that defense the real MVP. Gratz to the Chifefs!
Greg spoke only FACTS this segment
Nobody threw for 300 yards all year against the Chiefs.
Purdy isn't even in the top 5 reasons for the 49ers losing. He was the 2nd best player on their offense last night.
Third after CMC and Jennings.
Purdy is a great system QB...everything has to be perfect in order to win.
@@citizenx8710 CMC literally lost a fumble on the first drive of the game. He played fine after that but he doesn't get to be put above Jennings and Purdy for that reason. Much of the same reason why people won't give Hurts any credit for a great game last year because he had a bad fumble.
His WR had the same amount of TDs as he did. 🤡 When Josh Allen loses playing perfect for 55 minutes he isn't clutch but when Purdy misses multiple third down passes and mr "#1 against the blitz" looked like a deer in headlights it's not his fault.
@@Ark-oi3qy Or Kyle could have switched things up a little and ran Mitchell or Mason. In the end this loss is 100% on Kyle Shanahan.
As a broncos fan, under no circumstances short of collapse should the 49ers try to get a better qb on the off hope he'll be able to beat mahomes. If you have a franchise guy, keep him, especially if hes cheap.
Exactly, a problem that the Broncos wish they had! We can’t draft a quarterback successfully whether in the 1st or 7th round to play like that!
That Greenlaw injury really changed the game
NEVER A DOUBT !!💯💯💯😁😁😁
20 - 30 years from now when people are reliving the Chiefs Era this will be the game that gets replayed on tv.
Does everything better than everybody. Patrick Mahomes is wild
Completely agree, also you forgot to mention the blocked extra point. Would’ve put the Niners up 4 instead of 3
Too bad he won't be back anytime soon. CMC's due for a significant injury. Kittle declining, Trent and Deebo are on the decline as well.
Not really a "muffed" punt return. The ball bounced off #28's ankle and so McCloud had to go and get the ball. But he should have landed on the ball instead of trying to scoop it. That play was primarily on number 28 (I think his name is Luttle - a rookie).
Y’all killed jimmy for losing the same game with less weapons
Chiefs fans here. Purdy over Lamar any day in my book.
Haha 😂 I can’t believe Nick did this in front of coach 😂🤦🏼♂️ 0:09

Maybe you have something...a little bit further down the trough ??
I swear to God, I've laughed every single time I noticed he's sitting on a throne 😂
Wow! They were actually fair about Brock Purdy. That was refreshing.
Not Nick
They shouldn't have been. Any QB in the league could have taken them to NFCC/SB with that stacked offense, if he can't win with these weapons then he never will. Stacked offenses like that rarely ever happen.
@@stevenh3508how was it purdys fault? you clearly don’t know ball
Purdy actually played good, what cost them the game was the kicker missing the extra point and special teams with that awful ankle touch
This is why mahomes does OTAs Mini Camp Training camp hes is always evolving his craft which gives him the competitive edge even 2 minutes drills in August helps out a lot a the end of the year
I think this is the nicest Nick has been regarding Purdy lol
If Purdy is gonna hit that next level, I think it might have to be with a new OC coming in that Shanahan will allow to add a dimension of free-style to the current system and teach Purdy presnap reads and adjustments or he will need a new HC altogether.
muffed punt return and blocked extra point. That was the difference more than ANYTHING else.
That ankle touch on the kickoff is ultimatley the dagger for the 49ers.
If they wanna 3 peat, they better pay Jones and Sneed. I don't wanna see any cap space unused by the start of the season.
Some of the analysts cant admit they were wrong. They were the defending champs give them that respect. They so ready to give someone else the chip.
I’m sorry I think Mahomes is the best QB possibly ever lol. But this game was a defensive game for both teams. And those players should truly be highlighted. Both defenses owned the game.
Great season my hometown Kansas City Chiefsss ❤💛🏆🏈💪🏾⏰
Might we say we also have a.... DyNicksty? 👀
I agree with you 100% wholeheartedly!!
Why is no one talking about the punt fumble which was the momentum shift and the missed extra point?
I love how everyone was bashing Nick about his Mahomes mountain and he was right the whole time 😂😂😂
Didn’t talk about the missed extra point😢
Enjoy the win, only one team and fans can be satisfied and at peace! Thank God it’s my team the CHIEFS! Sweet.
9-2 when trailing 7+ in the playoffs wtf🤣 that is so crazy
Game Manager vs Game Changer. There’s a difference
nick picks the numbers for the graphics always on the sweet spot for his argument.
Purdy took the lead at end of game and OT.
If Mahomes gets to 4 rings he'll be the goat because there has been no cheating scandals
Nick rocking that Kenny Red jacket 😂😂...Soak it up man you deserve it.
His biggest plays of the season are doing just that
As a 9er fan, Nick was a lot nicer than I thought he would be. 😑
Andy didn’t win before Pat
I can’t give Nick any credit as an analyst for picking the chiefs to win, because he is a fan of them. He will always pick them.
Thank god they actually gave level headed analysis of Purdy. Might have been the first time all season for Nick.
San Francisco & Kansas City have really good kickers....
Tom Brady first 3 super bowls was because of patriots and bellechick defense 😢
Good thing Purdy had all those stats and wins with a bottom 5 defense, he is the only could that could lift up a 5 win team.
@@Jaywon44558 exactly
truly a game of inches. So close to losing last year and this year as well but managed to pull it out. is it luck or just being that good? probably a combo of both but just enjoy the ride.
My gut says Purdy vs Mahomes is going to be a rivalry we will be seeing in the next 5 years.
He’s human.
Their all pro corners were crucial
The one question I have is when you have a quarterback that puts up the type of season that he did with an arm that was just recovering from a major injury, how much better does he really need to get as long as you have a decent system around him?
Best show ever
Purdy played really well - unfortunately for him, Mahomes is the best of all tims. Great super bowl
Yeahhhhhhh chiiiieeeffffssssss !!!!!!!
Nick is going to say “same time next year” as he daps up Mahomes at the parade. Pat will say “yessir” as he finishes the handshake. Maybe throw in a “never a doubt” or two.
Tua is not better than Purdy by any metric 😂😂😂😂 and would never survive behind the 49ers 26th ranked pass blocking line....
As a Dolphins fan I would take Purdy over Tua any day
oh no. Can Purdy be better tha nthis year? You now the record setting year? What are we talking about?

Purdy looked good. He also showed he is NOT YET the person who is ever going to carry a team on his back.
This guys are forgetting Seahawks with the LOB, Comeback with GB
Any QB in the league could make the NFCC/SB on the niners with that stacksd offense and defense. If purdy cant win with a major weapon at every position, then he isnt ths guy. Its only going to get harder for him as pieces leave - next year will likely be his last chance.
Time to start building the team around Brock. That team was built for Jimmy. He needs a true dominant receiver
@@OppressTheOppressor-rl3sv
Bingo. Deebo is a dynamic player but not a pure receiver. Game needed more CMC, Aiyuk and Kittle.
Purdy is trash dude wake up
@@OppressTheOppressor-rl3sv Deebo can't run routes? He was wide open for touchdowns twice last night and one should have been interference on the DB since he had Deebo's arm pinned and the other Purdy overthrew him in the back of the end zone.

7:50 only time you’ll see nick compliment Josh Allen is to take dig at Purdy lol
He calls Josh top 3. He just goes nuts when people say he is as good as 15.
The fact that he stuck with his guys is wonderful and accurate. LeBron has been my favorite player since 1999, literally, is HORRIBLE at subtly throwing his guys under the bus. Kobe and MJ did that, too, but I wish my guy LBJ didn't in that respect
