    I read a great piece about the game and it highlighted how Spags essentially admitted to underrating Purdy going into the game. He talked about how in the first half he was finding seams and cutting them up in the zone game so Spags took the risk of running press man essentially the entire second half. Deebo and Aiyuk got absolutely stifled by Sneed and McDuffie (who have now landed themselves the title of best CB duo in the league) and because of that, they had more bodies to cover kittle and send pressure on a bad o line. That gutsy decision is why Spags is probably the best d coordinator in nfl history

    49ers o line is ranked 26th in pass blocking.. they showed why last night. Kyle made several bad choices and calls like running cmc to the right with the game on the line instead of behind TRENT WILLIAMS, Fluke Greenlaw injury, fluke punt turnover, cmc fumble, penalties, kittle dissappearing and even letting a good pass sail out of bounds because he wasn't paying attention... all reasons the 49ers lost before you even get to Purdy..who could have won the game with a td pass if the 49ers RT didnt let Chris Jones thru untouched immediately into Purdys face...

    People always be comparing, nobody is saying Purdy is or will be better than Brady, Mahomes, or Montana. It’s more that he’s not bad, he had the best passer rating all season and made the SB his first full season of starting. That’s good. As a Chiefs fan I have no problem with Purdy as an individual but 49ers fans (and a chunk of the media) were talking this guy up like he was already on Mahomes level and it got old fast. He's not bad but it also doesn't hurt that he has a HOF running back, a top 3 TE, a strong defense, a solid WR group, and a good O line. The 49ers were stacked this year, all their coach had to do was scheme up a game plan that kept the ball safe, he did that, and Purdy benefited. I'd say he had a B+ SB game.

    I do like how Nick started off the show giving KC's defense their flowers but I hate how Mahomes get’s all the glory while KC’s defense played way more impressively than he did, not just in the Super Bowl but also the Ravens game. I get what this is really all about, a hero needed for ratings, viewership, and sustained buzz…which then equals to even more ridiculous money for the NFL and everyone else who profits from them. If the defense got the glory then that’d be way less sexy. So in that sense, yes Mahomes should get the glory.
    But just look at all the instances where KC’s Defense shut down the niners when they really needed to. This allowed Mahomes to even have a chance at the Overtime drive. To add one more wrinkle to giving so much praise to Mahomes, he needed TWO opportunities to put the niners away. Had he really lived up to the media hype, he’d have put the Niners away in final drive of the 4th quarter. Mahomes is still an amazing quarterback, but give KC Defense their flowers.
    KC Defense
    1st Quarter
SF on KC 27: Forces fumble and allows zero points

    2nd Quarter
    SF Intercepts Mahomes, starts KC 44: 3 and Out and allows zero points
    4th Quarter
    3rd and 5: Holds SF to a FIFTY THREE yard field goal leaving KC 1:53 to tie or win

      You gotta keep in mind, you are comparing 11 dudes to one dude. Like are you gonna give MVP to anyone on that team besides Mahomes? I don't think so. Jones was great, but he wasn't the sole reason the defense was great. Mcduffie and Sneed were great too, but again they weren't the sole reason the defense was great. The offense lived and died through Mahomes and he came through in the end. That's why he gets the praise he does. The defense kept them in the game, but Mahomes finished it. The defense didn't drive down the field and score the touchdown to win it all. Mahomes did. And I truly think he carried the offense yesterday. I mean he was their leading rusher. Totally deserved MVP, imo. More so than his past MVP's. Pacheco fumbled twice, one after a BEAUTIFUL pass by Mahomes. Kelce had 1 catch for ONE yard in the first half, Fred had a clamp on him. And the OL was getting destroyed all night until the niners got tired. So its tough to say if their early struggles were even Mahomes' fault.

    I give credit where credit is due. Chiefs won. But I don't want to hear a single thing about Brock Purdy's ability to win a SB. Kid is playing in his first SB, as a starter, and going up against the defending SB Champs, who happen to own the best QB of this generation. And all he did was play clean, make some clutch passes under pressure, and put the team in a position to win (twice!) Perhaps if we don't have a muffed punt return which gave KC their best field position of the game (and only TD in regulation) we would potentially be having a completely different discussion today. The kids good enough to win a Super Bowl (period). It's heart breaking, but he did the team solid in my opinion

      Not really a "muffed" punt return. The ball bounced off #28's ankle and so McCloud had to go and get the ball. But he should have landed on the ball instead of trying to scoop it. That play was primarily on number 28 (I think his name is Luttle - a rookie).

    @nathanbrown7944 9 месяцев назад +5

    The thing that I think isn't talked about is the cerebral component of football that Purdy could get better in. The ability to process the game and handle things better situationally I think could absolutely improve, which in the QB position is huge. It's why Manning is considered a legend is cause he won a lot of downs presnap. That can grow and improve as time goes on if he becomes a student of the game and learns from Kyle.

    • @apostolostvable
      @apostolostvable 9 месяцев назад +2

      Same with Drew Brees. He developed a great understanding of the offense and how to shift protections pre snap. Thats purdys next phase of his development. Only question is if Kyle lets him take more ownership of the offense. Calling 11 plays for Deebo against an all pro nickle corner is malpractice.

    • @therealmisterj20
      @therealmisterj20 9 месяцев назад +2

      He can definitely get better! He probably doesn't need to learn from Kyle, tho. Kyle didn't even know the overtime rules, which honestly cost them the game.

    • @nathanbrown7944
      @nathanbrown7944 9 месяцев назад

      @@apostolostvable Definitely. Brees became great at making calls presnap. There was a good example of an area he can grow in. I believe the 49ers had to call a timeout because they didn't like the way the setup of the protection, but Romo pointed out that they got the matchups they wanted and normally a more veteran QB would simply switch protection and run the play or have the WRs run shorter routes to get the ball out quick.

    • @nathanbrown7944
      @nathanbrown7944 9 месяцев назад

      @@therealmisterj20 Yeah, that's fair. I didn't even realize that until later today when I watched some more sports talk about it. Plus, I think Kyle is a bit limited in his scheming and is very much locked to the system he has built. If Purdy is gonna hit that next level, I think it might have to be with a new OC coming in that Shanahan will allow to add a dimension of free-style to the current system and teach Purdy presnap reads and adjustments or he will need a new HC altogether.

I mean, Mahomes threw 6 touchdowns during this playoff run and 5 of them were absolute layups. Plus the last two in the Eagles Super Bowl. That designed run that Reid called on 4th and inches was utter brilliance. This guy runs an offense that was getting MECOLE HARDMAN running wide open in the end zone while Deebo Samuel can hardly get two yards of separation on the other side.
