In fact, the detonation time is very satisfactory for a leisurely pace if you let the asteroid spin do the work of lining up your shots. Here's a tip from one noob to all the others... build your mining ship to do all three styles. It doesn't cost much more, most ships have adequate hardpoints, and it will make you more money. 1) You never know what kind of rock you're going to find. I came across a rock with low-temp diamonds in it. Couldn't do anything with it because I followed the standard advice, "start out with laser mining" and didn't have a way of cracking the rock open. I missed out on potentially millions of credits simply because I didn't put the seismic cannon on my ship. 2) Some rocks can be mined multiple ways. It is possible to laser the surface, fire subsurface missiles, and then crack open the core all on the same rock. Even if it isn't always possible, necessary, or profitable... why deny yourself the ability?

Hello, thanks for the video, and I like your editing ! But I have a question about the core mining. In your examples, it shows all the time in the red zone before u explode them, it's not correct right ?
You are correct. There is an optimal yield threshold that is displayed when reached. Anything over that (in the red) will cause almost all the material being destroyed in the explosion. We weren't actually mining, we just wanted big boomz for the video. lol
Not a stupid question at all. They don't do a good job of explaining it. The mining laser kind of "strip mines" the surface. The other three mining tools focus on the specifically material rich spots of asteroids, which can be few and far between. There are always trace elements on the surfaces of asteroids regardless of any other deposits so the strip mining is frequently more efficient because you don't need to go hunting though the belt for a viable asteroid. Hope this helps
Thanks for explaining the displacement Missile. Other than the mining laser, the Seismic Charge Launcher was what I used first. Blowing up an asteroid? It’s why I got Elite in the first place.
I have found bugs with the display in the past, usually just takes reloading the game again. Otherwise make sure you’re not fully charging up each shot.

Yes, don’t look for subsurface deposits. The fastest way is just surface mining. As much fun as the other mining techniques are, surface mining the old fashioned way is the fastest
By default turrets will auto aim at targets. They are not as powerful as fixed or gimballed but can still be useful as they will engage a target in their range. Make sure you have the power to support them since they also fire with less down time

Even though the video explains it, I don’t have any credits to get what he’s saying to get. Can anyone help me out? I’m not good at this game and it’s all confusing to me.
Start with doing cargo hauling missions from stations, it’s a great way to build up cash while learning how to move about the game. Mining is more time consuming than profitable. After that I found bounty hunting missions to be fun!
You put too many seismic charges in. Stop when the blue check mark lights up. If you go until it's red then you need to disarm a charge to bring it back down.
Haha that’s the first time someone’s said that, but you’re right. Wearing headphones when the detonators go off, hearing the crackle of particles impacting the hull. I should have kept one in with nothing but that
A good tutorial. However, cut the music. It's a distraction, and at times it interferes with your speech. If you are going to do it. Fade it in and out between your speaking lines.

Everyone loves a good kaboom
I think the seismic charge is bugged. I deploy 1 weak charge and immediately it hits the red zone.
I have found bugs with the display in the past, usually just takes reloading the game again. Otherwise make sure you’re not fully charging up each shot.
Were you in the same instance with another CMDR? Fdev has yet to fix this bug.
@@Spike553 Ah yes we've had a similar problem! Mainly when one of us scans an asteroid and the other starts charging it. We'll also get where we can't see the graph at all
I keep getting yellow/orange rocks without any LTD subsurface deposits. Any tips? I'm at the new LTD3 because it's where I was already when I swapped to subsurface and despite that I have 8 tons in 45min+. I can't find any with sub LTD and I'm regretting leaving lasers.
Yes, don’t look for subsurface deposits. The fastest way is just surface mining. As much fun as the other mining techniques are, surface mining the old fashioned way is the fastest
In fact check out our video on LTD mining ruclips.net/video/sRJg0ViXfXE/видео.html
@@NuLevelNerds sweet thanks! I'll watch it now.
My question was on Fixed or Turreted? Will Turret's auto aim or are they Fixed unless you an persuade someone to man them and aim for you?
By default turrets will auto aim at targets. They are not as powerful as fixed or gimballed but can still be useful as they will engage a target in their range. Make sure you have the power to support them since they also fire with less down time
@@NuLevelNerds Nice. I know that Guardian Turreted Weapons are effectively just weaker Fixed weapons as they only become Turreted if you have a human crew member to manually aim them. I wondered if the Mining Turrets were the same.
Finally good background music
Haha glad you like it. We should use more classical music in the future 👍
Mhh.. I don't get if the pulse wave scanner is something I need to purchase, or if I can't find it due to "bad translation reasons" in the german version of the game. I just travelled to two stations that should sell the hardware according to google, but both did not have it :(
Yep, that seismic blues warhead sounds great at 4:00. What is that song? :D
Great tutorial btw!
Thanks for liking the tutorial! That is the 1812 Overture. Totally works with things blowing up
@@NuLevelNerds I mean the first song in the video and the song at 4:00, when deploying the seismic charge warhead. :)

Video stopped 40 secounds in idk if its a windows prob or what but would not go any farther. can here audio though but i wanted to see the video.
Sorry that’s happened for you. I just checked on a different account and it’s showing up fine for me. I wish I could be of more help
top vid boss
Thanks Rob!
5:43 wat theme is that?
The 1812 Overture, somewhere near the end of it
country music while mining with a cup of coffee on the side, perfect
I always feel that way too
dang it... I just cannot land a successfull seizmic charge on the damn ASSterrorID successfully planted just like 2 out of ugh... 50? wtf...
Any guides on that part? they all keep bouncing off the asteroid :/
Can you record and upload a video? It’d be the easiest way to give feedback for you
Even though the video explains it, I don’t have any credits to get what he’s saying to get.
Good video but the music completely kills the beautiful sound of the asteroid explosion
Haha that’s the first time someone’s said that, but you’re right. Wearing headphones when the detonators go off, hearing the crackle of particles impacting the hull. I should have kept one in with nothing but that
Someone saw V for Vendetta.
I like the asplode
A good tutorial. However, cut the music. It's a distraction, and at times it interferes with your speech. If you are going to do it. Fade it in and out between your speaking lines.
background music slightly too loud thumbs down
My bad thank you for the feedback
The music let turned me away at the beginning.. A guide with distracting music is uselesse to me..
That’s cool, we don’t make tutorials for you. Thanks for checking us out though
I thought i was doing something wrong. Turns out the game is just shit :/ hit fissures dead on with the missile and drilling only came up once out of 2 modules worth of ammo.
Ouch that’s not good
@@NuLevelNerds I got the hang of it but it's literally hit or miss. Sometimes it cuts out drilling when it rotates to the back of the asteroid, and sometimes it carries on 🤷🏻 I found laser mining the best way. But thats gonna change when they rebalance it to make it more in line with deep core being the most lucrative.
Would have been better if you weren’t shouting over awful music
Which music didn't you like?
