And regarding who can set, anyone can do it, but it is preferable for the setter to do it, since he specializes in that, he is the one who does it best.
Honestly, I agree with Hinata not being good right now. That's just a matter of a fact. Coz compared to everyone else, like Kageyama for example, he didn't have that privilege to learn, and he was the only volleyball member. No one was around to teach him. So it makes sense he is still learning. He has the potential and he is fighting with everything he has right now. And that in itself is commendable. We love him and he is literally a ray of sunshine, I can't wait till you guys keep watching. Everything gets better and better. If you think this match is great, then you better brace yourselves!! But people who LEGIT hate on Hinata after watching the whole Haikyuu series or read the manga, did not understand his character at all :)

He's not a good overall player, but his unique skillset just gives Kageyama a weapon he couldn't pull off with anyone else. Coach Neko was right that it's not a duo of monsters yet, but an oni and his club. His skill isn't there yet but his presence is still what's making Karasuno able to compete with more complete teams.
People just hate to admit that Hinata is one of the main reason that push the team forward. Despite lack of volleyball basic skills, his atheism and being passionate definitely helped his teammates. I could not imagine if there’s no Hinata they would be neck and neck with Seijoh.
The reason the setter can't receive and toss is the number of hits... Each side only gets three hits max each time the ball is on their side, and no player can hit the ball twice in a row, meaning any other player must touch the ball in between. So, is not a rule, the logistics just don't work out. Though, that means the setter could spike it if some one else sets them.

We're not really hating on Hinata. It's just his current reality. We give him props about athleticism, reflexes, hops, stamina, and competitiveness. But when it comes to the freak quick, the most Hinata does is dodge the blockers with his speed and hops. Kageyama does 80% of the agency. It's just the facts that right now, the KageHina duo is scary mostly because of Kageyama only. If Karasuno had another speedster, Hinata would be expendable with his current skillset. That just means Hinata has so much more room to grow, and you'll enjoy his development in the future.

Whether you like it or not, he's going to be there. Second of all, this show is about growth. Those who watched/ read this series and still do not understand this; why? Both hinata and kageyama need each other to grow as people and volleyball players. If you want to watch a show where the MC is good from the get go, then this is not for you.
Im sure people don't mean to hate/undermine Hinata's raw talent and hard work.. At this point, Hinata is only ever in good use to the team as for The Decoy + Freak Quick. Other than that, he's the worst player for basic skill volleyball (receive, serve, block) in Karasuno. But ofc that doesn't take all the other things Hinata brought to the team dynamic. If anything, Hinata is a First Class Decoy at best. He's sooo good at fooling the other team, he almost fooled his own setter😅(in this ep).
From the explanations we’ve read, it seems like he can spike the ball bc he didn’t touch it twice in a row. He received it, but then the libero tossed and it went back to Oikawa. So the same player can touch the ball twice, just not in a row

I think Hinata is only a player because Kageyama is there. While kageyama can play with anyone, hinata can really only play well with him.
