This was the first haikyu episode that had the most ninjas cutting the spiciest onions around me...

The bell ringing is also a callback to ep 1. In that ep, at Himmel's funeral, the bell tolls and Frieren reacts. It's not even clear at the time that she knows why she is reacting as she is. Later that same ep, she is looking at the ring. In this ep, of course, the bells tolling and ring come together and make Frieren finally realize that Himmel loved her and was declaring his love for her - but she never (consciously) knew until that moment, 80 years later.

As you'll see, Himmel keeps coming back in Frieren's memories and through his influences, but it would do a massive disservice to the story to actually bring him back to life. Also, I think that Frieren did not "love" Himmel, at least not consciously - after all, she did not bother looking him up for 50 years, and thorugh she does deeply regret that, it is an indication that she did not "miss" him in the way we'd normally associate with romantic love - but the story is a tragedy of unrequited love, as you will see. Also, in watching your reactions, I noted the bell and Frieren's reaction in ep 1- I had missed that before. it takes on more significance in later ep (one particular ep, in fact).

shiratorizawa is in the same tournamen, but i think bc they won it last year so they got the privilege to skip the first round or sum (cmiiw)

I get the need to figure out how they might have broken down the tournament into different seasons. But trust me, you want to avoid thinking too much into this or you’ll end up seeing something and spoiling stuff for yourself.

This is probably the most underrated episode of the whole series. It speaks so well to the beauty of sports, the hope, the despair, joy and sadness, and that despite it all playing is worthwhile.

The show just gets better and better. You guys will love it <3 Next match you will understand the real importance of Hinata and his role.

"I dont know who to root for" is such a vibe with this show, this anime feels like a master class at building up characters sometimes ❤

I love the concept of this episode. It's the very first official match for our team and yet the show chooses to switch perspectives to show the matches from the perspective of the losers. Focus on the mental aspect of winning and losing. It gives important context on the motivation and passion behind all these characters and sets the stage for what's to come.

That's the thing with this show - you almost every time end up liking the opponents as well or at least respect them xD It's so hard to root for one team when You see both sides and thier motivations 😅

Yeah, this anime will make you happy and sad after the end of each game. Happy for the team that win andsad for the one that lose. At the end of the day it is just people that so passionate to volleyball. whether which team win or lose, one side with be happy and the other will have regrets. This anime doesn't have evil villains, just passionate people.

This is the essence of Haikyuu, the ability for the audience to connect to complete strangers through a shared experience. We've been there, we know someone who's been there, and all that puts you back in those moments. The best part for me about this episode is that when they're thinking about all the things they feel they could've done better, their preparation might have been perfect and they would still feel that regret. You always second guess yourself after the fact, even when in the moment you had really done the best you could.

I doubt about Hinata being a player every setter want to play with (in this moment). Anime showed times what he basically cant do anything good exept this weird quick. And this quick, his best option, is not even a real attack at this moment, he just running fast and jumping high. Nobody can do it faster, but he dont even control the ball, just hitting straight. Kageyama just giving it at high speed and pinpoint accuracy, no setter can do that, its impossible toss. Thats why Hinata closing his eyes everytime - he couldnt hit that toss by himself. So them as a duo is amazing (Like Daichi said: 10+10=100) but without Kageyama Hinata is just agile and fast, but clumsy and unexperienced player. (No offence for Hinata at all <3)

I know that this is kinda late, but "Doesn't he have a Birth Certificate" won't help much. Reason why, they know about Kaiju No 9's ability to take on the form of Certified Humans. A Birth Certificate wouldn't help much as they will be wondering, how long has he been a Kaiju? And is he a Kaiju who is pretending to be Kafka?

I have to read the manga for this. I can't wait for them to animate it. Have to read jjk first, though, since almost the whole story has been spoiled for me 😑

I totally understood your point on dumb committee members making important decisions in anime... It pissed me off so many times in different shows, especially when they proceed to side with a deciever later on

Kaiju powers the defense force took meaning the powers of numbered kaiju that were turned into weapons.

second season has been confirmed, from what i heard it's also already in production, much as i love the manga there's been a lot of new scenes in this season and ones added from the spinoff with little character stories that imo flesh out people's character more so i think it'll be well worth waiting for the second season 👍

I’m very glad you guys liked Narumi’s design, because I kind of hate it lol. He looks so much more cool in the manga, I’m really hoping it’s just because like 90% of the time his hair is down but for some reason it was up here. Narumi will be a big part of season 2, and his VA is the one who does Shigaraki from MHA 😁 Fun fact! The chess scene was only in the anime! It was not in the manga, in fact a LOT of scenes from these last 2 episodes were not in the manga. I would agree it’s probably best to not look up the other numbered kaiju, mainly because the very few panels where they are shown are on very spoilery pages. If you need SOME kind of juice to squeeze, I can tell you they were all giant class and some were rough variations of what you would expect Godzilla to look like. There wasn’t much creativity given to the design of the original numbered kaiju since they’re all dead. Season 2 has been confirmed, and I can’t wait for it

The moment Hinata runs up for the spike and he spreads out his arms to jump and those arms sync up with the wings of the crow is just top tier direction. Too bad it wasn't shown in this edit of the reaction but i remember that being my favorite part of this episode. Can't wait for the next one <3

Oikawa and Hisoka are both voiced by the same VA Namikawa Daisuke , so that’s probably where the familiarity comes from!

But I think hisoka was just following killua's brother order in the training arc and later on he becomes a supporting character 😊
