Ushiwaka is such an interesting character because he can come off as rude or arrogant at first, but he's really just very honest and blunt, I don't think he's ever intentionally trying to insult anyone, he just speaks his mind. Which can sometimes come off as even more arrogant or annoying than if he was taunting them on purpose, because he actually means every word lol 😆 I think he's a great character though, and he's also surprisingly funny once you guys get to know him a bit more.
Also, I know the show already made it pretty obvious but I'd just like to point out the huge difference between the two schools again, with Shiratorizawa being a very prestigious school that offers a ton of amazing equipment and accomodations for their students vs Karasuno that doesn't have a seperate gym or bus just for volleyball, and sometimes they even had to practice outside because the gym was taken by other clubs. You can also see this with that awesome shot of them staring at each other with the birds in the background, with Ushiwaka standing on beautiful green grass, while Kagehina are at a garbage dump. They're not provided with equal opportunities to grow, but they still promised to defeat him and fight their way to nationals. Such an amazing moment, I definitely get why it made you want to watch this show!
Anyways, I'm excited for the next episode where we finally meet my favourite sapphic disaster, you guys are gonna love her!

We were so caught up in the moment, we totally didn’t catch that difference between their schools! Honestly Shiratorizawa being more prestigious than Karasuno didn’t even cross our minds lol but that shot with the eagle and crows make so much sense now

This episode is a manual on how to start a 2nd season. You have to imagine this was the first episode after a break after season 1. So they had to build everything up again, and hype everyone up again after the loss in S1. AND BOY DID THEY DELIVER! You have everything here, from the funnies to the epic. THIS EPISODE IS AMAZING!

You're not reacting to the OVA? Actually you can skip OVA 1 & 2 cuz they're not originally from the manga but OVA 3 & 4 were adapted from the manga so please don't skip them. Watch them all directly after season 3.

18:50 I don't think it's gonna make the cut in the finale movie, because even in the manga it was like an after-chapter extra panel: Kageyama & Ushiwaka's vball IQ are peak. Their school IQ/real life common sense is below Hinata's lol. They both don't know how gravity works even though their sport is about making sure a ball doesn't fall on the ground.
We got a hint that Kageyama's not good in school academics in S1. He said that he didn't get a recommendation from Shiratorizawa vball scholarship, so he tried taking the general entrance exam and failed spectacularly. If Ushiwaka wasn't one of the best high school players in Japan, he wouldn't have gotten into Shiratorizawa through conventional means either.
there's a couple exceptions but yeah most of the top players (or top-tier potential players like Hinata) are basically volleyball loving idiots who have amazing vball IQ and awful everything else IQ.
