I’ve had one of those modules short intermittently but mostly guessed really as I couldn’t find anything wrong with it. Another great video. Thanks
Cutting edge
Your theory put into practice is so good 😊.Top gun
Hey, Steve thinking out loud here, pull pin connector of that module of that circuit and make temporary fuse harness with a 5amp less than circuit fuse, then if it is the module the lower amp fuse blows and not the main fuse. Working here in the USA years ago had a body illumination fuse that would blow maybe once or twice a year as you may have guessed we could never find it, fused out all at the splits with a fuse of lower amperage eventually leading us to the actual wire that caused the short. Found on next service a bulb was out hey no power I wonder why? Many techs had looked and tried to find and failed but isolation and a bit of extra work found the problem. How expensive that module is I don't know but ruling it out could save face and a better solution. Be safe and well, good luck.
cheers steve.was thinking what if the module was intermittently shorted but you answered that in this video.fantastic explanation.thanks for your time.
Thank You for sharing this valuable information.
Now I know how to take off front bumper on my Berlingo if I have to.
Few days ago got yellow triangle warning light on the dash after I drew thru a big pile of snow. Snow got thru the grills and accumulated around fan and seized it. Snow froze solid overnight. Somehow I melted it few days later, using hot water and hose.
Tomorrow will have closer look at it. I hope there will be only one little blown fuse and everything else will be ok.
Good to watch again. Very good video.
Thanks Steve the sun is out have a good day.
You're very clever, love your videos
@1.29.Fu.... i saw a coffee ! Now I have to make me one 😆
Great vid Steve
Hi Steve did you not notice the verdigris, on the outer covering of the loom shown at 4.06 of this video?
Great job
Can i use multimiter with the buzz on instead
Hey Steve, great video ! Just had a thought when watching. Do you think using a heat gun on the module may help reproduce the short internally with test light still hooked up?
Yes mate, a great strategy 👍
Hello Steve great video
Can’t watch live got too much on
Anyway how random today got DS4 2013 diesel which got short to positive EGR exchanger by pass so I’ll be digging into that French marvel
Anyway take care stay safe
Got to love or hate those intermittents!
shorts and open are always interesting .. especially when they are intermittent.
part 3 coming ? any you have just made me think of a new use for a logic probe
New subscriber here, enjoy the videos!
Steve great video...bet your missing chippy friday...have you a link for the banana adaptor for test light...
They're on the Warwick test supplies website Geoff www.warwickts.com/4901/WTS-4TB-001-M4-Threaded-4mm-Banana-Plug-Adapter
Great video again 👍would a led test light be ok for that test Steve?
Yes it would but I'd prefer around 100mA or so from my incandescent test lamp 👍
@@SimplyDiagnostics thanks Steve 👍👍
Well hope you do tell what was the final fix. Or did you shoot from the hip with a module replace?
Never shoot from the hip, I imagine every wrong call will cost me £1k, so every diag I make, I need to be £1k sure. 👍
@@SimplyDiagnostics You must have a lot of time on your hands and or customers don't mind you keeping their car for lengthy amount of time on the intermittent ones? On, headbangers especially in the computer to find there is a software patch to fix that only a dealer can fix unless you have access to this type of support. Have a great day.
I rarely do intermittent faults, they are time vampires. All my customers are awesome, yes, I have access to manufacturer information, tools and resources within our network at www.simplydiag.net 👍
Hey Steve, what company did the banana plug adaptor for the otc test light mate?
Warwick Test Supplies Ltd, they have offers on for SDN Trade Only membership 👍
Why not adapt the test light to go across the blown fuse? Cheers
Wouldn’t a multimeter be better as in a scanner scanner video he used a test light and it did not show a short but the using a multimeter it did
There are lots of ways, meter is one, the testlight has never failed me 👍
Common issue for the fan module to go out on PSA vehicles from 2005 ish to current lol
Too common, but I've also seen lots of loom issues after a fan module hasn't fixed the fault 👍
so that was the real cheshire grin lol
Yup, you're seeing a very happy Steve these days 😁
