Glenn Hughes is such a great bass player and singer. I love his music since 1974 when I was a young teenager and heard him as a member of Deep Purple. Fortunately I had two times the opportunity to see him playing live in Bochum, Germany. Sorry for my bad english...

2024 sees the fifth release by the highly skilled rock group of veterans in Black Country Communion.
Surprisingly after the last album was BCCIV, they’ve gone with….and I know you’ll be surprised….V
The gang of 4 individual talents returned, fighting fit and raring to go.
In case you have been living under a rock, for the uninitiated, BCC includes the talents of Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Derek Sherinian, and Jason Bonham.
Also along for the ride is erstwhile collaborator in the producers chair Kevin Shirley.
A break up ensued in 2012 with Hughes stating that "Afterglow" might be the bands last album, blaming the bands lack of regular touring.
Things got a tad heated where a gig in the UK was pulled, and Bonamassa wouldn’t let the other 3 use the name Black Country Communion.
However the fickle finger of fate always seems to raise its head when there is good chemistry and money on the table (I.e.album sales).
Some 7 years after BCCIX, comes, V.
With V BCC have released their best and most consistent piece of work to date.
Hughes is an absolute beast of a vocalist ever since he did Burn for Deep Purple in 1974.
He is one of the few (if any) where their voice has got even better in their 7th decade.
If you think that the opener "Enlightened" blows away the cobwebs then Hughes brings the funk into "Stay Free" and "Red Sun" which has a riff that’ll loosen those fillings for you without even having to find a dentist.
Other highlights are "Restless" which sees Joe come to the fore as it's the soaked in blues feel .
"Letting Go" has a riff that AC/DC Bon Scott era would have been proud of.
In many of the songs it is a vocal and guitar riff trade off between Bonamassa and Hughes.
Whatever Joe can play, Glenn can match him in vocal histrionics.
Such so is the intro to "You’re Not Alone" , the song soon melds into Black Zeppelin territory (it had to appear somewhere !) and Bonamassa steps up to the mic in the main.
One has to have a certain amount of confidence to trade off with Hughes, and it works well, and should happen more frequently.
The super-group moniker has been used far too freely over the years, but in the case of BCC it is rightly so.
All the 4 members of the puzzle bring their own game to V, making it one of the best rock albums if 2024, and in my opinion, the best so far in the BCC catalogue.
Even though these players are dedicated to other projects (it’s worth wondering where Bonamassa finds the time), they congeal like a road hardened unit.
Kudos to Shirley whose man-behind-the-curtain sonic supervision provides the road map for these guys to let loose and detonate like the pros they are.
So if they can't tour for love or money, it remains one hell of a legacy to leave behind.
Support the artist by purchasing here joeb.me/2f2zabM
    Enjoy
    Jim

      С примерно с середины 70-х в теме мне тогда лет 13-15 было.

    • @doctordoris
      @doctordoris 7 месяцев назад

      Все классные и невероятно крутые.

    • @veshugnet
      @veshugnet 7 месяцев назад +1

Как сейчас помню, фото с пластинок Beatles - Let It Be, как раз SWEET - "Fanny Adams" и Slade - "Slayed?"," In Flame" и "Nobody's Fools", гибкие пластинки из "Кругозора" и миньон группы SWEET фирмы "Мелодия" (как ни странно) с тремя абсолютно идиотскими песнями из их раннего творчества. Pink Floyd - "The Dark Side of the Moon" услышал и моё увлечение длиною в жизнь оказалось предопределено и могло только с алкоголем, наверное, посоревноваться ((.

So glad to hear new music from these guys... love them...this song is ok at first listen. But not bad. Sounds like they're pushing their boundaries with the chorus.

Cool song. The guitar sound/playing reminds me of a cross between Andy Summers and Alex Lifeson.

I have good name for a band, Black Oak Indiana. All other towns named Black Oak are in states whose names start with consonants, so the name wouldn't flow well, but Arkansas and Indiana both can work, and only one of them has already been used for a band.

This one doesn't reach the pinnacle of RED SUN - mainly because it sounds like several different songs crammed into one track - and they don't smoothly fit together. But if they don't gel into a perfect cake, the ingredients are all utterly delicious - a killer riff, Glenn Hughes' still-great vocals, wonderful musicianship from everyone and quality production. It's therefore a paradox - a substandard song that's great to listen to. A must for the Hard Rock playlist. My Score: Very Good 4*
