  • Experimenting with watercolors today! I thought it would be fun to see if watercolors interacted with floetrol and silicone the same as acrylics and possibly create some cool cells... Did it work? Watch to the end, some surprising results :-) I hope you enjoy!

    I was just wondering whether watercolors could be used instead of acrylics and then ran across this video! Thanks for the demo. And it's a very pretty, colorful result.

    I’ve been wondering if I could do paint pouring with watercolor. Thanks for doing this! Lovely outcome too. But yes you used a lot of paint. Lol.

    This experiment tells me that I could probably mix my Brusho watercolor powders with PM and/or Golden soft gloss gel. The watercolor powders might be less expensive than the ColourArte powders.

      Thank you. I used watercolor paints from tubes (just as I would use acrylics) and mixed as usual with floetrol, chilled distilled water and a drop of 100% pure silicone per color. Thanks so much for watching 🙏 😊 🎨

    Is it necessary to use pouring medium? I mean can't acrylic colours just when mixed with water correctly give pouring acrylics? Or do you have to use pouring medium to have that stuff? Please answer

    • @HeatherWrightArt
      @HeatherWrightArt  3 года назад

      Just paint and water can work somewhat, but too much water can cause your pigments to unbind, causing your painting to look chalky or the painting to crack when drying. I DO use floetrol as my MIXING medium, just as others use pouring medium or PVA glue. These additions help your paint remain flexible and help your paint pigments stay binded together. Just adding water can work in certain situations if you are trying to get cells without the use of silicone but you would need to learn more about paint densities to be successful... or you can just experiment to see what works for you! I hope this helps!

      @@HeatherWrightArt ma'am there is one more little question. Can we use any other adhesive in place of pva glue as pouring medium?

    • @HeatherWrightArt
      @HeatherWrightArt  3 года назад

      @@belikeahmed Some people use only paint and water without any kind of added medium and have some success (I emphasize SOME). My preferred additive is FLOETROL. It is not a pouring medium but it works very well, if not better in my opinion, than pouring medium. Hope this helps. Lots of good luck 🍀🍀🍀

    Show the dried results because I doubt very much watercolours would be that vibrant when dry

    • @HeatherWrightArt
      @HeatherWrightArt  2 года назад

      In fact, they were not quite that vibrant when dry but more vibrant than expected and quite nice when finished with varnish... This painting has since been sold! Thanks for watching 😄

    I do watercolor painting as my main craft and I can tell you that watercolor paint shouldn't need any products to help it move around. You just add water and it flows. You should also barely need any paint so watching you use a whole tube of paint and all your other products pained me a little lol. You do such beautiful work so I'm curious to see what you could do with watercolor if you only used water instead of using it like acrylic paint

    • @HeatherWrightArt
      @HeatherWrightArt  2 года назад +1

      If I just used water it wouldn't be a "pour" as acrylic artists know it... it would be pretty but not similar. This was just an experiment and these watercolors were so cheap I would never use them for an actual watercolor painting, lol! Thanks so much for watching 🙏😊🎨
