I thought this was awful at first, right up until the last few seconds when I saw the final product!!!! AMAZING, I never thought of doing this! I am constantly reminded to tell myself "keep an open mind you dingus!" Thank you so much!
I have done some pouring myself ...more realistic subjects though.l must say it takes some planning but the results always turn out different....but very satisifying!
@youvinicio She uses masking fluid. It's like a glue that you lay down on the paper, then paint over the top of it, then rub it off. It leaves the underside pure white.
The before & after at the end of the video shows that this is actually an underpainting for a representational painting. I like these earlier stages better than the final result though.
I am new to art and watercolors in particular, but as of late I have been hearing a lot about "pouring". Now, is this primarily used as a background technique? Thanks kt
Any negative comments about this. The idea is color splash in layers same thing you do when working on a portrait since I paint and draw realistic pictures.
For everyone so confused and unable for whatever reason to do some research. She starts by drawing the design on heavy watercolor paper than uses what's called "masking fluid" on certain areas. Areas with masking fluid will remain completely white.
The ending is weird showed a before and after which is so damn different ... should have showed how u got there or just wrote it up on a slide .. i kept scroling back and forth to see how u may hv done it but im still clueless
Great painting and very interesting watching it develop. Thanks for sharing your techniques of pouring the paint. No picture will ever be the same.
I've never seen that technique before. Very beautiful through the whole process including the end result!
This IS art. Art has no form. And it's creative.

Amazing technique and finished painting!
i loved it. and would imagine this is just a preview
Just curious but couldn't you use a fine sprayer to add the water easier without as much disturbance?
So very lovely and love the completed piece
I really liked it as an abstract before I saw that it was a painting of clothes pins. Much prefer the abstract. Love the technique.

Beautiful result. Thank you.
Appreciate showing the technique, but would have enjoyed seeing how you started this picture and threw to the finish product.
Usually, one needs to purchase a lesson, that is how artist make their living.

what type of paper is this? and where can you find it? all my watercolor papers warp and I cant seem to find paper that works well with the water
Any reason for using a brush to wet the paper instead of a spray bottle?
wow great work x
Lovely to watch all those colours move together. What did you do at the end to remove the excess paint?
How do you know what to mask and on what layer?
How can you tell the different values to mask in each step? Are you just looking for 3 ... dark, middle and light?
Beautiful technique..
Beautifil.....I have your book! Well, right now a friend has borrowed this book... :)

wow so nice!
Where can I get those bins
So helpful!
Love it
good idea
Very nice :-)
I thought she said she didn't want orange in the middle, but then she went and let the red run into the yellow? I'm confused.

I think it is so hard to like this , as it leaves you confused at the end of the clip !
@youvinicio She removed the masking fluid....
lots of trial and error and water color paper to develop that technique. Good stuff.
ummm...ok.
try it your self
I liked it before you moved the paper at the end.
um what?
At 5:20 you fill amost the whole paper with watercolour..at 5:26 you have many zones white or clear colour...that's impossible with watercolour!!!!
I dont see the purpose for this ... why not just use watercolour inks
Pigment-based color reacts differently than dye-based color
That must be a very heavy sort of paper
300 pound.
uh.
No explanations... what dams??? what is she doing?
Wow. What happened. Lol
mdr
Looks awful
+Alex Drăghici That's what I thought, looked better before she swirled it and became a mess, and don't see how that ended up that way
disappointed
Why did you make a video and explain.....nothing? I thought this was going to be interesting but, I was very disappointed.
Waste of my time
rubbish
what did you use for the drawing underneath so it didnt smear or blur after using watercolors?
love it
