- In part 3, we continue our southbound tour of the Sunrail/CFRC corridor from Orlando to Poinciana capturing the mainline action including CSX, Amtrak and Sunrail. Views are captured from the ground, in the air from a drone and inside the cab of a southbound Sunrail train.
Great video!
EXTREMELY interesting footage to watch from a train watcher in SC who rarely sees such action or relative commentary - and especially the great drone work. Please continue your fantastic work and posting!
I don't know if you're old enough to remember, but the Poinciana station was built by Amtrak in 1975(ish) to serve as an Auto-Train style station, and the main station for Walt Disney World, to replace Kississmee(I worked for Amtrak at the time). Common rumor was that SCL and Amtrak couldn't agree on who would provide funding for the equipment for that type of service(understand, A-T and Amtrak were separate companies at that time)....and, due to their inability to agree, WDW withdrew their promised financial support for the station and its services! Poinciana never opened and stayed dormant for nearly 30 years until the creation of SunRail, and Amtrak retreated back to Kississmee for their passenger stop. I was an OBS crewmember on both the Champion and Silver Star in those days, and we'd always comment on what type of missed opportunity Poinciana was!! Happy to see that it's being finally used.......Still think that Amtrak missed the boat!
I'm glad to see that Conrad Yelvington is still using the Alco RS-1.......Mid-Florida Railroad Prototype modelers group had a tour of the place in 1997.
Great job! Thanks for doing all three of these!
ANEWYORKNATIVE thank you!! It was fun making all 3 of them!

Nice video. The cab views are cool.

Maybe run a line through Pinellas county north on old ACL tracks
Any tips for catch the csx coal train
Nice and interesting video Scott. Keep it up. One question what happened after the engineer saw your drone? It did not look like you had to land.
Nancy Laurens nothing happened, he was just pointing it out
YUCK! More freeways, I thought Jacksonville was the only city in Florida building more damn highways! The Church Street station sure has changed quite a bit
