Dude, did you just sit there and watch Bob Dillion, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and George Harrison and not recognize ANY of them?!?! Those are four of the greatest musicians who have ever walked the earth! Put together, probably the best collection of talent the world has ever seen. I'm not busting/hating on you, but that is amazing! You will not see more gifted people in one place for the rest of your life (excluding a picture of the last supper of course).
The Last Waltz (the Scorcese docu-gig of The Bands farewell) is probably my favourite for the collection of amazing artists coming together. It's amazing.
Traveling Wilburys super group: George Harrison from the Beatles Roy Orbison (sang "Pretty Woman") Tom Petty Bob Dylan Jeff Lynn from Electric Light Orchestra Jim Keltner (drummer) Each were massive artists in their own right, going back to the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Tom Petty (and the Heartbreakers) would go on to have his biggest two albums after this (produced by Jeff Lynn).
Hey, thanks for listing Jim Keltner on drums. He looked familiar too, but couldn't remember his name. The other iconic guys are responsible for about a billion hit songs!!!
Roy Orbison was asked one-time what's your approach to writing songs, he said, "Well one time I had a dream I was at an Elvis concert and he sang a song right to me. When I woke up I realized Elvis hadn't ever done that song, so i knew it was for me so I wrote it"
I heard that Jimi Hendrix was asked what it was like to be the greatest guitarist.... he said you'd need to ask Rory Gallagher! I'd like these things to be true. I like when a 'superstar' can still be humble and show respect to fellow artists.
Roy and Elvis were good friends. I remember hearing a snippet of an interview with Roy shortly before his death, where he said that the two would hang out together, play music and drink sodas.
5 legends (6 including Jim Keltner) in one room just hanging out and making legendary music, and none of them had an ego! You can't get any better than The Traveling Wilburys!
Yes end of the line is awesome. So sad Roy passed just before shooting started for the video. You hear him sing but he is represented by a photo and a guitar in a rocking chair.
These guys are rock and roll royalty. As said below,George Harrison(The Beatles),Jeff Lynn(Electric Light Orchestra), Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Bob Dillon. Unfortunately most of them have passed on. Only Jeff Lynn and Bob Dylan remain. I highly recommend that you look them up individually and see what they are all about. I don't think you will be disappointed. Thanks for the vid.
I didn't appreciate the Wilbury's as much as I should have during their short stint together. I wish Roy had lived long enough for them to put out a couple more albums. My God, what a collection of talent. Their chemistry and harmonizing was amazing for such a diverse group with completely different musical backgrounds. No egos on display, just brilliant singing and mutual respect. Rest in peace Roy, George and Tom.
By the time the album was released I believe Roy Orbison had already died-in their next video from the album End Of The Line they are on a train & Orbison is signified by an empty chair rocking back & forth. Since then Both George Harrison & recently Tom Petty have passed away leaving ELO maestro & producer extraordinaire Jeff Lynne & Bob Dylan as the only surviving members. Did you really not recognise any of these legends?
That's correct. Roy died on Dec. 6, 1988 and the album was released in January 1989. He was one of only two artists in the history of R&R (Elvis was the other) to have two songs in the Top 5 at the time of his death (Handle with Care and You got it). A true musical legend and Rock and Roll Royalty. I miss him everyday!
I never thought of it before, but this was a perfect song for him to react to. he reacts to songs that we all know and love, but he has never heard them. This was also a song that we all know and love, by a group of legends that we all know and love, and he had never heard the song or recognized the members. Perfection!
OMG legends! It's hard to even believe all this talent could fit in one place. I'm on a Tom Petty kick right now. Do you not know who these people are Ty? Um. One is Bob Dylan and I really hope I don't have to say more. He influenced the music scene every bit as much as the Beatles or Elvis. Roy Orbison (pretty woman walking down the street) Jeff Lynne is the singer from electric light orchestra (don't bring me down... no no no no no ooooh hoo) and Tom petty (top hat) is the kid in the bunch who died last year. His really big hits were like...and I'm free.....free fallin... And also last dance with Mary jane, one more time to kill the pain. They were all in the legend status of their careers when they got together. It was a supergroup of the highest order made possible only bec they were as humble and generous as they were talented and they were all excellent collaborators. *All these references are like....titles with some lyrics that may ring a bell to ya. Seriously if you want to learn about music...none of these men can be overlooked.
Lethia Page I know right! How could he not know those legends! Ty should have recognized Roy, since he reacted to Indian Summer (which features Roy’s fantastic range!) and Pretty Woman (but it was blocked).
Best all Star band of all time...Came together by a fluke. Gorge Harrison had a song he wanted to Record at Bob Dylan's home studio. Tom Petty was at Georges house and said i want to go. George had left his guitar at Jeff Lynn's house, when they went to get it Jeff said i wanna go. When they got to Bob Dylan's Roy Orbison was there and they both said they wanted to play on it too. The recording of that song went so well they wanted to record more songs, but Bob was going on tour and they didn't have much time so they said lets write and record 1 song a day for the next 9 days and they did.
“End of the Line” is also a great Wilbury song. But so is pretty much any Wilbury song... It’s George Harrison from the Beatles, Jeff Lynne from ELO, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbison. With that much talent you can’t go wrong.

@ShariSez1 No, the other commenter is right. Think about this. Have you ever heard someone say something like, "you've never read that book? It's a classic!" There is literally so many classics now that you don't mathematically have time in your life to read them all. Some classic books might as well dwell on a cloud in another sky of another planet, in another galaxy 100 thousand light years away. You'll never even touch some of these books by accident. There isn't enough time in your lives to listen to it all. Just a fact.

But unfortunately Roy Orbison died before the video was made... so during his singing part in the song....the video shows a rocking chair with Roy's guitar in it. Roy Orbison was one of my favorite singers....he and Tom Petty...are one of the very few entertainers I actually cried for when I learned about their deaths. Of this group...Jeff Lynn and Bob Dillon are the only ones still around. George Harrison passed away due to cancer back in 2001.
@@sarahkinsey5434 one of his lesser known songs is one of my favorites, it was on his Mystery Girl album and called 'The Only One' Of his older songs...I always liked the song Crying... I still can get goosebumps listening to how incredible his vocal range was...the sound of his voice...so unique and just mesmerizing to listen to.
StormyPeak I loved it when he he would hit those high notes, like an opera singer. I am always amazed by the sheer magnitude of his voice, he barely moves his mouth!
@@sarahkinsey5434 I'm glad some of the younger generation is still listening to him and admiring his voice. I was about 12 years old the first time his singing caught my attention....the song Blue Bayou...still remember that... my uncle played it on a new stereo he bought. My grandma (his mom) was there and she requested the song from his record collection. I'm 55 now and it makes me sad sometimes that most kids won't listen to the music from the past that Their music now was built upon. Also, in case you didn't know - Roy had some tragic losses in his life. His wife was killed when they went out on motor bikes and she crashed her bike. A few years later, he was in England, and his house in the USA burned killing two of his three children.
StormyPeak most music now is shit, rap sucks, and the stuff on the radio sounds the same. I prefer classic rock (Pink Floyd especially), alternative (Elbow), and pop-classical (The Piano Guys). Yeah I know about those tragedies, learning about what happened made me love him even more. He was such a nice man too, he definitely didn’t deserve what happened to him. But after those tragedies, he married gorgeous Barbara, and had a great career. He left us too soon though.
These are all well-known singers in their own right who came together for this band. George Harrison (of the Beatles), Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan.
@@sarahkinsey5434 I had to go back & watch the video again to see who you were talking about. I don't always pay close attention to the video if I'm watching the chat. So, who was the dude on the drums?
I don't know whether to laugh that he didn't know a single one or to be very sad. These guys represented the greats of the best times in rock. I think I'm just sad. And sad partly because I was around listening to every single one of them on the radio.
Some ofther songs from the members of the Traveling Wilbury's : "Nelson Wilbury" - George Harrison "Otis Wilbury" - Jeff Lynne "Lefty Wilbury" - Roy Orbison "Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr." - Tom Petty "Lucky Wilbury" - Bob Dylan George Harrison - Here Comes the Sun, My Sweet Lord (former member of The Beatles) Jeff Lynne - Can't Get It Out of My Head, Turn to Stone (co-founder of Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)) Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman, Crying Tom Petty - Free Falling, I Won't Back Down, You Don't Know How It Feels (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers) Bob Dylan - Tangled up in Blue, Blowing in the Wind, Gotta Serve Somebody
***The Traveling Wilburys*** = Consist of 6 Rock & Roll Icons who got together to make an album, Just For The Hell Of It...... George Harrison (Beatles) * Roy Orbison * Tom Petty * Jeff Lynne (ELO) * Bob Dylan * Jim Keltner (drums) ...... RIP George Harrison...... RIP Tom Petty...... RIP Roy Orbison
This is going to sound pretty terrible, but if it wasnt for silly things like Guitar Hero, or Guardians of the Galaxy promoting old hits, a great deal of younger people will not even hear this great music or know of the legendary artists. There is so much good music out there, it seems a shame that younger people (who have the internet and RUclips) dont even know to look for it.
Steve Fletcher Although my parents played the “oldies” when I was a kid, and I knew a lot of the songs, it was Rock Band in 2010 that got me into The Beatles. In this video, I knew George Harrison, Roy Orbison, and Bob Dylan, but I didn’t know the other two.
Those guys ARE the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Songwriter (Harrison), The Poet (Dylan), The Rebel (Petty), The Voice Orbison), and The Genius (Lynne).
Shocking. Shocking. If one cannot recognize George Harrison, let alone Bob Dylan, one has no business doing anything but listen...without comment. Shocking.
These musicians were all signed to different record labels. They could not legally record and release an album. The way around that was to release it but not use their real names. Each member used a different pseudo name. I think Roy Orbison was Wilbur Wilbury. But nowhere on the record or album cover was their real names. The album was recorded and the first video was made. Roy Orbison then passed away. Another video was made without him. Two other Traveling Wilbury albums were made with the remaining members.
I now know how young you are, Sweetie! The fact you didn't recognize one of the Beatles, Tom Petty, BOB DYLAN, Roy Orbison, or Jeff Lynne from ELO says a lot! But I think it is great you listened to them. I LOVE the song END OF THE LINE as well. Roy passed away before they were able to film a video to End of the Line but they made sure he was represented. Of that group of men; George, Roy, and Tom are now gone and only the two -- Jeff and Bob -- are still alive.
This was so awesome! Epic moment with epic artists. MRM you need to do "Roy Orbison - Crying." Try a live performance video. Thank you for all you continue to do and for making me smile. Been tough few months but I'm so pleased to see you still here and doing so well.
It was quite amazing to watch you watch this video with the camera going slowly from person to person as the song progresses and thinking "surely, you'll recognise..." and it just not happening. I thought I'd be upset but I actually enjoyed it a lot! 😂
TedLenn0n I miss Roy after watching this. The Traveling Wilburys introduced me to his music, and I have been listening to nothing but him for the past few months!
The video for their Song called The End Of The Line was dedicated to Roy Orbinson who passed away. His picture is seen in the rocking chair during the video.
"The Traveling Wilbury's" is a collaborative effort by a group of legendary musicians. Another such group is "The Highway Men", a group of country "outlaw" legends. Their most famous song is "The Highway Man".
God, I hope somebody in the early comments told him who the hell he was watching LOL. The whole time I was sitting here thinking "He has no idea who these guys are, does he?" 😂 For some reason I was really pulling for him when Roy Orbison came in, but no, hahaha. It's ok. It just means that somebody should have told him to listen to their individual stuff first and give him a little background.
Knowing who these guys all are and how they got together brings new meaning to this song - yes - old guys who got together - you were hearing familiar songs unable to put it together b/c they were all icons - separate groups and singers. No, not twins. They showed baby pictures of all of them.
The guitar that George Harrison is playing is a Traveling Wilburys promotional guitar. I still have my TW-300. It was made by Gretsch at a time when they were looking for capital to start full production again, around 1988. They're close cousins to the Danelectro Silvertone of the 1950's. I have a '59, and they do sound similar.
I have been asking every freaking reaction channel that I watch to review this or react to this, and not a single one has done it, so I finally just typed in; reacting to the Traveling Wilburys and found this. I hope you like it.
"You Got It" is an excellent song. It was actually on Roy Orbison's album "Mystery Girl" (which by the way is an awesome song of his too) but, on "You Got It", this was written about it: “You Got It” was the lead single off Roy Orbison’s posthumous album Mystery Girl. Written and performed with The Traveling Wilburys partners Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty, the song hit #9 in the US, his last Top 10 hit in the country, and #3 in the UK.
The lead singer was George Harrison, former Beatle. This is one of the last songs he recorded. The others in this group were friends and supporters of George. Roy Orbison passed away, first. Next, was George Harrisn, who fought a great battle against cancer, which started in the throat and spread to the brain. Next to expire was, Tom Petty, the blond guy with the top hat. I think he ODed. He and his wife divorced and she was granted custody of their two daughters. His friend, George, dying was a tremendous loss to Petty. So, those who remain are Jeff Lynn, guitarist with sunglasses, Bob Dylan, whom we all respect and love...in addition to the drummer, whose name I don't know. R.I.P. Roy, George and Tom.
Dude, did you just sit there and watch Bob Dillion, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and George Harrison and not recognize ANY of them?!?! Those are four of the greatest musicians who have ever walked the earth! Put together, probably the best collection of talent the world has ever seen.

Jeff Lynn (Electric Light Orchestra -'ELO' fame - songs Mr. Blue Sky, Don't Bring Me Down, Evil Woman)
Bob Dillon (Knocking at Heaven's Door, Like A Rolling Stone, Blowing In The Wind)
They did another music video called END OF THE LINE.
StormyPeak I’m almost 19, but I love love love Roy! The Wilburys introduced me to him, and I can’t get enough of that voice!
@@sarahkinsey5434 one of his lesser known songs is one of my favorites, it was on his Mystery Girl album and called 'The Only One'
Of his older songs...I always liked the song Crying...
Legends of Rock thanks for this.
These are all well-known singers in their own right who came together for this band. George Harrison (of the Beatles), Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan.
Don't forget Jeff Lynne!
@@sarahkinsey5434 Oops! Thanks for pointing that out. I guess he was the drummer? I was just going by the ones I recognized.
sagittarian1955 Jeff is the other guitarist with sunglasses and the beard. He is famous for ELO and for producing other artists
@@sarahkinsey5434 I had to go back & watch the video again to see who you were talking about. I don't always pay close attention to the video if I'm watching the chat. So, who was the dude on the drums?
sagittarian1955 Jim Keltner was on drums. He’s a great session drummer for legends like Bob Dylan and George Harrison
This is the ultimate in Supergroups. The CVs of each member is impeccable. What a brilliant idea to get together and make even mire wonderful music!!
The Travelling Wilbury's were a supergroup formed by George Harrison of the Beatles. Other members are Bob Dylan Tom Petty etc
Let us never forget Jim Keltner.
Great bunch of guys!
I don't know whether to laugh that he didn't know a single one or to be very sad. These guys represented the greats of the best times in rock. I think I'm just sad. And sad partly because I was around listening to every single one of them on the radio.
You saw Rock royalty and had no clue.
Youth don't know there history of music. Reason being is that music is almost always not tought in school anymore.
Theses are some of the greatest musicians you could ever get together on one group
Some ofther songs from the members of the Traveling Wilbury's :
"Nelson Wilbury" - George Harrison
"Otis Wilbury" - Jeff Lynne
"Lefty Wilbury" - Roy Orbison
"Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr." - Tom Petty
"Lucky Wilbury" - Bob Dylan
George Harrison - Here Comes the Sun, My Sweet Lord (former member of The Beatles)
Jeff Lynne - Can't Get It Out of My Head, Turn to Stone (co-founder of Electric Light Orchestra (ELO))
Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman, Crying
Tom Petty - Free Falling, I Won't Back Down, You Don't Know How It Feels (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers)
Bob Dylan - Tangled up in Blue, Blowing in the Wind, Gotta Serve Somebody
It's a great story on the CD case about how the Wilburys started out as a stationary people...
Of course, Roy just had to name himself after Lefty Frizzell. Great stuff! :D
They're all very famous musicians and were together in their older years
***The Traveling Wilburys*** = Consist of 6 Rock & Roll Icons who got together to make an album, Just For The Hell Of It...... George Harrison (Beatles) * Roy Orbison * Tom Petty * Jeff Lynne (ELO) * Bob Dylan * Jim Keltner (drums) ...... RIP George Harrison...... RIP Tom Petty...... RIP Roy Orbison
Still gives me chills the first time Roy Orbison comes in. That voice...
Perfect combination of legendary voices. Great stuff!!
This is a powerhouse of a group. Each of them with stellar musical careers.
Bob Dylan even won the Nobel Prize for literature a few years ago.
You recognized it becuase those are some of the greatest musicians ever, and youve heard their sounds before. Excellent video, keep up the great work.
Have you really not seen any of these videos you post? How old are you??😂
Hey, give him KUDOS for WANTING to learn about music!
So much talent in one room. Legends of the music industry.
Roy Orbison
the tilt of your head when roy started singing classic
Tom Petty , Roy Orbison, George Harrison (George Harrison from Beatles),
Jeff Lynne, Bob Dillon.
You mean Bob Dylan :)
Those guys ARE the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Songwriter (Harrison), The Poet (Dylan), The Rebel (Petty), The Voice Orbison), and The Genius (Lynne).
I can't believe you don't know who the members of this super group were....not even by their voices? Where the h--l have been, dude?
Cracks me up, you were listening to legends and your reaction was like..."Ya, they were ok..." Gotta love you!!
Shocking. Shocking. If one cannot recognize George Harrison, let alone Bob Dylan, one has no business doing anything but listen...without comment. Shocking.
Nita B I have to agree! It's like watching a deaf person listen to music, or a blind man trying to watch TV. Painful.
@@agemoth Painful. You hit the nail on the head. Misery loves company, so thank you for your understanding!
The Travelling Wilbury’s were probably the most legendary lineup.
The voice of Roy is so recognizable, one of the best sounds in music history
I now know how young you are, Sweetie! The fact you didn't recognize one of the Beatles, Tom Petty, BOB DYLAN, Roy Orbison, or Jeff Lynne from ELO says a lot! But I think it is great you listened to them. I LOVE the song END OF THE LINE as well. Roy passed away before they were able to film a video to End of the Line but they made sure he was represented. Of that group of men; George, Roy, and Tom are now gone and only the two -- Jeff and Bob -- are still alive.
What a great line up of musicians at anytime and anywhere.
They were friends who made beautiful music together. Try the Wilbury Twist.
It's sad that he didn't recognize any of the legends in this video.
Listen to Wilburys "end of the line" when you get a chance. Thanks!
One of greatest collaborations of music powerhouses, enjoyed briefly, never to be repeated.
I miss George after watching this.
TedLenn0n I miss Roy after watching this. The Traveling Wilburys introduced me to his music, and I have been listening to nothing but him for the past few months!
The video for their Song called The End Of The Line was dedicated to Roy Orbinson who passed away. His picture is seen in the rocking chair during the video.
and george harrison
What I really liked about this Supergroup is the way they blended together with No Egos on display! Just pure talent 🥰🥰
Rock and Roll Gods. Each one worthy of a listen anytime.
Knowing who these guys all are and how they got together brings new meaning to this song - yes - old guys who got together - you were hearing familiar songs unable to put it together b/c they were all icons - separate groups and singers. No, not twins. They showed baby pictures of all of them.
One heck of combination of stalwarts... What a band and impeccable legacy they carried
Reading some of the previous comments there's not much more to say. Every one of these guys are among the best in the business.
You are hearing those echoes because you probably have heard all of those distinctive musical voices before.
I have been asking every freaking reaction channel that I watch to review this or react to this, and not a single one has done it, so I finally just typed in; reacting to the Traveling Wilburys and found this. I hope you like it.
Notice he reacts with a curiosity when Roy Sings.
Thanks for reviewing this song, one of my favorites. I love Tom petty and all of these artists are legends by ever sense of the word. Thanks again
Thanks for reviewing, fantastic group!!!
