U can tell a musician is VERY secure in his abilities when he even comes HALFWAY close to showing musicians how he came up with a certain sound lol. Thanks man, I will be powering up my 5080 shortly :-). Might end up ridin it out w/ Hugo bass for now tho until I get out of lazy mode. I remember when I got my 1st Roland module (JV-1080)... Whew talk about a learning curve. It got easier tho... Sold it then got a XV-3080 (this vid brings back memories)... Then sold that & got the 5080 & i'm NEVER sellin that lol. The 3080 has different converters tho so some say it sounds fatter in the lows. I shoulda a/b'ed em. O well lol some1 else did.
I bought my XV-5080 for like 400 (but it came with 3 cards tho) and I'm NEVER gonna get rid of it...I kinda regret giving up my 1080 tho, cuz those two together was KILLIN!!!!! I might have to get another one LOL
this is definitely my favorite series on here, i know a lot of other musicians can agree to that statement too. if you see this , thanks so much Randy! and of course WheatWorksPro!
I just found out that you can only have one effect active in performance so I'm thinking about going multi out to a mixer so I can have eq on each patch
I believe you were on system control 2 for the after touch response on a Kronos, What system control would it be if I use a Motif XS? And is it the same system control for turning the wheel off completly? Please advise.
The only problem with Roland is that they haven't actually created any new samples since about 2005. They just keep recycling the same sounds from the JVs, & SRX/SR-JV expansion boards, & putting them into "new" synths like that Fantom, Jupiter 50/80, Integra 7, FA-##, etc. Granted some of the samples still sound great, but many of them are sounding quite dated. Since they were created in the 1990s, they're also quite small when compared to the samples on the Korg Kronos, Yamaha Motif, Nord Stage, Kurzweil PC##, Artis, Forte, etc. For exmaple, Roland's biggest/best acoustic piano sounds are comprised of about 32MB-64MB of samples, (on the SRX boards) where as the Korg Kronos has 9GB of piano samples alone. There is no comparison in terms of realism. I have all of Roland's best sounds/samples (or at least the only ones I actually want) on my XV5080. (+SRX/SR-JV boards) The only recent/current Roland synths that interest me are the V-Synth, the 3 "Boutique" synths, the System-1 (which I have) & some of their vintage synths from the 70s-80s.
a stupid question to guys here , how can i setup my m audio , roland xv 3080 and my motif xs8 , and still use my plug ins ! i know its a basic question but they exist to be made ehehe. Iam pala always on my acoustic piano and i new on this type of setup! Blessing from Europe
I was thinking about getting a Roland FA-08 for church. What is you opinion of that keyboard. I would be interested in your thoughts. Also thanks for all the great info.
GREAT board very nice. My friend has one he did have some problems with the expression knob, but it's fixed now. I would definetely recommend it man. Very versatile board Worth the price, lightweight I could go on and on lol
I've been researching the integra7 supposedly it has the entire sound set of the 5080 which has the entire soundest of all its predecessors so I'm wondering is getting the integra7 worth it since its the 5080 which has 896 sounds plus all the Srx and additional sounds totaling 6000 sounds. Long story short can I do this level of editing and achieve these types of sounds with the integra7 the 3080 and 5080 are getting real scarce on eBay and I'll rather buy something new as compared to shipping a module from Japan that may or may not work when I get it
I remember when I was a younger cat playing the organ. I asked this guy to show me a particular chord. He said it was his. As I grew as a musician, I realized that there is no chord or note that no one else in the world is not playing. You only have 10 fingers and there are only so many notes between C and C you can hit. So, when someone is doing something musically and says it's a secret my eye brows go up. There is nothing you are doing no one else is not doing or hasn't found. Although, I appreciate the video the word SECRET in my opinion should be removed. Especially, since social media is all around the world. You can find anything you want if you do some research. Saying that it is a secret implies that this is the only way or the only one. Just my thoughts.
+musicmane007 im not sure what he did but I turned the effects to eq and took some of the low midrange out....and turned the release down some and the resonance all the way down
oh ill have to look at it ... not at the module right now ill look at it for you when I get to the church....Its a bunch of partials in the module and most of the patches are made of four
Kyn Mahone You can make this patch on the Fantom S, X, Juno G, and SonicCell. They all share the same synth engine. The "Fantom engine" is an updated XV engine.
This was invigorating.. I've watched this vid twice, and I'm looking to watching it again!
You can tell these men are blessed with talent and sharp minds.

does anyone know how to find the cut off resonance and release on the 1080 not use to its set up but it doesn't seem to have patch modify
Cutoff and resonance are under TVF (with "palette" on)
what about release
The editing is a little different on the 1080 a bit harder lol
Can Randy do a video with the 5080?

Samuel Francois Yup...pretty much any board or rack pre-fantom (JV, XP, XV series) you can make this sound
Kyn Mahone You can make this patch on the Fantom S, X, Juno G, and SonicCell. They all share the same synth engine. The "Fantom engine" is an updated XV engine.
