Like even between songs, he keeps going. In Ankh makeup and the pantsuit. What a wasted opportunity for some kind of bizarre performance art.

A feel a lot of it has to do with VV protecting himself and what he created musically within the bands he was in. He wrote or co wrote KISS's biggest songs when he was with them and they didnt show him respect financially. The guy stood by his convictions thats for sure....but he stood up for himself in one of the biggest bands in the world and that went over like a lead ballon. KISS did screw him over from a financial aspect.

    • @dogslobbergardens6606
      @dogslobbergardens6606 2 года назад +5

@@markherring3513 it's funny how Carmine openly says here, "I demanded to be paid royalties for the songs Vinnie wrote." And thinks Vinnie is the asshole for saying, "Uhhhh no I wrote 'em, I get the credit and the royalties, that's how publishing works."
Carmine had been in the biz a long time by then, he knew that. He apparently got VV to agree on a handshake deal saying otherwise and then got disappointed by him finally sticking up for himself.. but really, that story says more about him than it does about VV.
VV still sounds like a total weirdo of course. And by many accounts, a real ripoff artist in recent years.

What’s interesting about (you people) & your alcoholism is that just a few years before the potato famine, Ireland was the site of a massively successful temperance campaign led by the noted Catholic priest, Theobald Mathew. So successful was this campaign that between 1838 and 1841, national alcohol consumption was cut in half.

Vinnie Vincent is proof positive that all the talent in the world is meaningless if you're a shitty human being. Yes, he could undeniably shred, but if you can get past being awestruck by his speed, his playing further exemplifies his total self indulgence. I can't stand listening to his live solos, because they're an uncontrolled mess of "Look at me!" Now, when a producer or contract was restraining him, you'd get some real magical moments.
Vinnie is a fine example of someone who COULD HAVE been something much larger. I can honestly say, too, that he's one guitarist that someone could say, "Oh you're just jealous because you can't play like him," and I could be totally confident and genuine in replying hell no.

@Grg Dps Which was more than they should have because...
Kiss went on tour to support "Creatures" and "Lick it up" albums they quickly found that they made a mistake having Vinnie in their fold. Because, look at the logistics which come with doing a tour:
      - You have to hire truckers to move the entire thing from city to city during the tour
      - You have to hire a crew to build the stage
      - You have to hire sound crew to make sure the shows sound good every night
      - You have to hire special effects people to make sure the pyrotechnics of a show will work as they should every single night. (Certainly for a band like Kiss, that's their bread and butter right there.)
      - You have to hire promoters to make sure the venues can be booked.
      AND
      - You have to make sure that every single one of those people hired is insured, because should a calamity happen to that said person, medical bills would be taken care off by the insurance company.
So every single member of the tour crew (Which includes the band members themselves) has to sign a contract which in return means:
      - That they will be insured during that said tour.
      - Will receive proper payment for their services for the full duration of that tour.
      - Will be properly taken care of, have a bed to sleep in and enough to eat during the tour.
Vinnie let his contract expire which meant that the band was basically touring with an uninsured employee and basically had to pay for hotel stays out of their own pockets.
As I pointed out earlier, a Kiss show is a well planned out event, it HAS to be. But Vinnie's solos became longer and longer, screwing up the tightly rehearsed timeline of the show and after coming near blows with Paul Stanley one night, Vinnie was shown the door.
He sued the band a couple of times for unpaid royalties but every single time he tried, the band's lawyers presented the judge with the paperwork which showed that Vinnie was paid the amount of money his contract said he was getting when the contract was still viable.
And by letting his contract expire, there was no reason for the band to continue playing him.

Years ago, I first came to know of Carmine Appice when he was drumming for Rod Stewarts Band (era of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?"). Years after that, I saw Carmine at a Sam Ash (Cerritos, Ca.) while he was setting up/prepping for a drum workshop (maybe 2000'ish?). I just wanted to shake Carmines hand and thank him for the years of music. As I stood there, there were about 4 little kids talking to Carmine, who had no ideo who he was. I believe the kids were in there for the(school) band section, but you know how it is, kids have the run of the store. These kids were asking Carmine tons of questions about drums and music. I was absolutely amazed at the time Carmine took to answer questions and talk to these kids. Very professional. I hope today, these kids are still playing music and now know who Carmine is. They can tell everyone about the time they chatted it up with Carmine! Carmine Appice, you command the highest respect, Sir. I never did get to shake your hand, but on that day, it was for the better! Till we meet again........

    • @garyhill2740

Bruce is a talented guitar player in a technical sense.
      There's only one Ace.
Ace Frehley and Vinnie Vincent are the only musicians from Kiss that have done anything outside of Kiss I even care to listen to. I have all of Ace's records since his 2009 comeback. I like them all.
Appice recently said something about Vincent that is very true. He said when he "plays like Vinnie, good blues rock stuff, he's great".
      He is.
I enjoy listening to the Warrior demos album where he writes all the tunes, sings, and plays guitar. Just good hard rock guitar with cool solos. He should do more of that. But the Vinnie Invasion, apart from "Animal" and "Back On the Streets" gives me a headache. There are some songs that have leaked out from his unfinished 90's album, like "Invincible" that have potential, I'd like to hear them fleshed out as finished recordings. But I wish he'd sing them instead of hiring people on helium to wail out the lyrics, and just play some good hard rock guitar. The speed shredding thing isn't his thing. It isn't really anybody's thing. Back in the day it was supposed to be cool, and nobody wanted to admit it sucked and just gave them a headache.

I feel Vinnie carries more baggage than most in the rock scene, so that might explain some of his behavior. The overtly loud, uncharacteristic guitars on the Invasion project might have been a manifestation he was struggling to find his identity even back then. Now he's (they've?) been appearing more feminine in public than in the past. I really don't care, I just hope he's (they're?) happy. Everyone deserves that.

I like Carmine Appice, but who the hell is he to expect a song writer to spilt royalties with others who didnt write the song. I heard Gene and Paul complaining about Vinnie wouldnt sign a contract to be in KISS. I wouldnt have signed it either. Gene and Paul has everytning geared in their favor. Most of the money goes to them. There is a reason why they are the only two original members and don't get along with past memebers. Not to mention how they control everything. It sounds to me like Vinny was smart and protected his own intrest and money. He wasn't bullied into the things other musicians complaimed about. I have the upmost respect for Vinny. I don't know about the '60s but I grew up in the '70s and '80s. Very very seldom did I see a drummer's name on the kick drum. Overwhelmingly the vast majority of kicks displayed the name of the band. He didn't have to go out of his way to call Ludwig and tell them about this great new drummer. He's done several drum clinics as well. Carmine Appice can do nothing but insult others. He is overrated to a fault. Who is underrated? Vinnie Vincent!

Vinny made permanent enemies with every band or organization he was involved with.
The last time Gene Simmons was with Vinny it was a disaster.
Gene invited Vinny to meet with him during one of his music vault gatherings.
Vinny showed up wear a ladies pant suit with his wig.
Vinny was hoping to form a collaboration with Gene as he was broke.
He had already sued Gene and Kiss over 30 time’s as he felt he was ripped off of royalties etc.
