I think this Cadenza is difficult as you say. I felt a pause when he played jumped tone.
I find that Santiago's light touch suits this wonderful concerto perfectly. Amazing performance by both the soloist and the orchestra!

Perhaps you will enjoy Vivaldi and Boccherini cello concertos. I love them.
