@Kazeemi2810 I saw them perform that song in person 8/2021 at WV State Fair. I was 20 feet from the stage. Incredible show. Blessings of solace for you!🕊🙏❤️
simply not true you can see people recording with digital cams at several places especially just before he sits down to drum , also flashes from camaras ll the time (they may not be electronical but does the same) this was recorded in 2004 not the dark ages.if people wanted to be distracted they could be
One thing that blows me away, is that he was the only artist who got to play live in London and Philadelphia during Live Aid. Plus the fact he can sing while playing the drums and sing well.👌
I remember watching the concert at a campground clubhouse. My best friend and I swore there was no way we’d miss it. We got to the clubhouse and just told people sorry but this is what we’re watching. I actually have the entire event on DVD.
I'm always amazed that people don't know or forget that Phil is a DRUMMER who can sing. And also how steady his voice is when he plays is also AMAZING. The dark lyrics and moody drum sounds reflected the anger and sadness the musician felt leading up to and following their 1980 divorce. Collins has explained that the drowning is symbolic, representing the pain and anger he was feeling at the time. The line really connected as a rebuke, entering the lexicon along with sayings like "I wouldn't give you the time of day" and "not if you were the last person on Earth."
Yeah it's crazy how he keeps his voice so consistent and steady his voice is. If heard drummers sing but never as good as singing when not playing drums, Phil is literally just as good singing on drums than without them
All the time he was walking around the stage there were no drums on that rear catwalk, until he got about ten feet away... They came up through the floor. Perfect timing for that iconic drum drop. Great performances also - not only from the other musicians on set, but the sound and lighting crew. Everyone came together to give a performance second to none. Thanks for posting.
Never tire of watching reactions of this stunning performance! What an absolute icon! Never piss off Phil cuz he’ll write a song about it and throw it out there for the world to hear😂! Best divorce song ever!
I don't know if you caught it, but as Phil approaches his drum kit, you can see the drums rising up to the platform/stage just before the lights spotlight them and as he sits down to play.Awesome 😮. Phil always referred to himself self as a DRUMMER who could sing.
What a legend! I am 83 and have been blessed to witness so many legends in my lifetime. I love reactions!! To see the legends ate being recognized by the young eople! Breathtaking! ❤
Th white bearded guy is the famous bass guitarist Leland Sklar (American bassist and session musician). who has played with other famous/great music groups like the Bee Gees, Toto, The Section, Era, & Rick Roberts band. To name a few. It is such a sad thing that Phil can no longer play the drums live! due to severe health, i.e. spinal condition (after a spinal injury in 2007). If you're interested there is a lot of information online about Phil Collins and his life and health. All of his children are talented. His sons Nicholas & Simon are following in Phil's footsteps as two additional great drummers. His youngest son is pursuing his dreams to play football.
I thoroughly enjoyed your joy with this one. That part where he does that convulsive screaming gets me every single time with on this one. True artistry.
Your joy and passion is refreshing, please don't change a thing in your reactions. We all know what is real and what is not. Fantastic song! I'm 62, one of my favorite songs.
Only a drummer watching the video would stand up to give Phil a standing ovation.....LOL. But he is right....extremely powerful song that builds and builds to Phil getting on the drums. Great song and loved the reaction!
Some amazing songs & Artists came out of the 70's & 80's and I'm grateful I got to hear them first time around. As a Brit I am proud of some of the music that was released by British artist, obviously Genesis, Phil, Queen and so many more.
He's such an awesome guy! This performance is one of the best that I have ever seen.i wish I could have been there. I fell in love with his music. I pray for him with his health problems. God bless you, Phil! ❤❤❤
I have seen so many reactions on this song (one of my favorite songs from when I was younger and still is!)…but your reaction rates up in the top 3! Your reaction was like watching a kid on Christmas morning! Which is so fun bc you’re a drummer yourself…you didn’t know whether to clap or drum with him and loved the joy on your face! Great reaction! 👏👏👏
Thank you for the background information at the start. I heard an interview with Billy Joel years ago where he said: Anyone can teach you to play right. No one can teach you to play wrong. He said some of his best music cam from a mistake he made. Love it.
This was among the top 5 reactions to Phil Collins live I've seen to date. And believe me I've watched A LOT of reaction videos! Thanks for sharing your emotions and appreciation for real talent! Much love from NW Louisiana.
Hi there😊. Coming to you from Cape Town. It's nice to see a musician, particularly a drummer, doing a review of this incredible piece. Phil has an enormous love of the drums of all form. Your reaction was so genuine, never lose that.
I saw this same performance in Florida on his First Final Farewell Tour and the entire concert was amazing...check out more from this concert... he ran around on stage, danced, sang (perfectly) and never seemed to get tired..so glad i can say i saw this live
@@V12BenzAMG Did he close the concert in FL with a drum duo with Chester that lead into Take Me Home? I love the clip from this concert in Paris where 20k fans sang the song while he conducted. If you've never seen it, it's called "Drums and Take Me Home". It is🔥🔥🔥 I'm so glad you got to see this in person!!!
@V12BenzAMG Oh, wow!!! I did not know it was available on DVD. Thank you so much! I'm heading to the internet to look for it right now. Again, thank you!!
Most people don’t realize that he is left-handed, so the drum set is exactly opposite of a normal arrangement. You don’t see him reaching for his sticks when he gets there. He actually has retractable sticks, so they were with him the whole time!! Look closely @ his hands. Thank you for a great reaction.
I so love this song and this man. I first heard it on a summer day, coming from the window of a neighbor and was struck right away. I've listened to it so many times and its amazing every time. I've seen some where people didn't know he played the drums. Their excitement just added to the experience. I'm 66 years young and this is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Thanks for doing it again.
What’s interesting, if you go back & watch, the song is about his ex wife’s betrayal of their marriage. I truly believe why there’s so much intensity. On the close up “I remember, don’t worry” and a couple times during close ups, there’s a lot of anger in that intensity. He looks like he’s playing the whole thing back in his head as he sings, then the release of that anger in the way he positively assaults those drums
PHIL WAS ALWAYS THE BEST AND ALWAYS WILL BE. I LOVE THIS SONG AND SEEING HIM LIVE PERFORMING IT IS WONDERFUL. I ESPECIALLY LOVE THE DRUMS. HE IS SO GOOD AT PLAYING THE DRUMS.
I love Phil Collin's music. I'm a musician (bassist). I was hired three years ago to perform with a band doing a Phil Collins/ Genesis tribute. It was great. ALSO: Lee Sklar is one of my favorite bassists.
Some reactions are special and some are just extra special like yours. It really meant a lot watching you watch this live performance. I'm a 60-year-old man in Middle Missouri and I started tearing for God's sake. It's just so cool for some reason to watch you experience that from here. And there's lots of great comments about Phil and this great song and performance, but yours is extra special today.❤
