Diana's dramatic contralto smashes visual and vocal stereotypes for female singers.
This was a show for 9 weeks, with 9 judges, who all performed 9 times, and they judged each other. So Diana was a contestant, and a judge, this was her first performance on the show, and she ended up winning the show. A lot of her performances are special, you can start off with the song - Crow. She became famous early on by winning back to back Voice type shows called You Are Super, which featured disadvantaged children, you should check out her performances from then also, which showed an unbelievable mature talent also. Diana is special, and always worth watching. Thank you.
That is a very interesting way to do a show. She is very intriguing.
I first heard Diana back in fall of 2017 on YT post of Voice Kids Russia, she was 13 at the time. She has an interesting back story on Wikipedia. She had a really rough start in life with an abusive mother and the authorities ended up putting her in an orphanage. But her whole life changed about a year later when her adoptive mother a massage therapist adopted her. Diana had very poor speech so it was recommended she take up singing as part of her speech therapy and a STAR WAS BORN. Now she is 18 and a REAL POWER HOUSE. As one of the judges said 99.99% of us do not have that special gift of singing that comes so naturally to Diana. A true gift of God that she has honed into an incredible instrument. She is the Queen of Goose Bumps!
It's the polyphonic over tones she produces. It always blows people away. She can sing in more than one harmonic at the same time. Love Diana 😍😘👏

At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment. Only two years later she started singing in local theater, and in street plays and performances. And soon after was entered in a Russian TV music competition for disadvantaged children. By the age of 10 she was winning local competitions, singing on live TV shows, and her songs started showing up on RUclips. Two months ago, at the age of 18, her first performance during a new Russian television competition with several other renowned performers, has gone viral and has garnered hundreds of RUclips 'reaction' videos, and millions of viewers. Her first song at the competition, an entirely new take on Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling in Love with You' has been called mesmerizing, transcendental and other-worldly...it highlights her uniquely deep voice, and effortless range from low to high, along with her trademark dramatic and passionate interpretation. Diana Ankudinova sings mostly in Russian, English and French. She has also sung in other languages including Spanish, German and Arabic. A viewer: 'At the age of 5 she couldn't speak her own language, and now she is this angelic singer that the world will soon discover! How can one watch her and still doubt past lives?'
Diana is very aptly named the Queen of Goosebumps! Many have been following her progress for years. I just discovered her about 2 years ago and have been hooked ever since. Such powerful depth to her voice, yet her higher tones are simply siren-like.
The judges in this show are also her fellow contestants, all seasoned performers. They all have on their stage costumes because they already performed their songs before Diana. Diana was the youngest contestant at 18, and she won the entire season last year. She is also still studying at GITIS University in Moscow in the variety arts and will graduate in a couple years. Yes her voice confuses people, but it's all her with no effects, her timbre is just so different, most either love it or hate it. For me, her voice speaks to my very soul. No singer has ever had that effect on me before. Diana has been performing on stage since age 5 or 6 and is very comfortable up there.
She also performs many solo concerts across Russia and sings some acapella which is where she really shines. Diana is also a master yodeller. There's not much she can't do. She's also one of the humblest, kindest people on Earth. :)

Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion.

Yes, she's from Russia! This show, ШоуМаскГоОн ("ShowMaskGoOn"), is for contestants of other shows on the NTV network. Ankudinova had been a contestant on the NTV show Ty super! ("You are super!", but "You're great!" is probably a better translation) as well as other shows. I believe she even took part in The Voice Russia (the one for children). She's been very popular throughout the years. No wonder. She is... Super. Super great.
I first saw Diana on a RUclips video of "The voice Kids Russia" in 2017. She was truly amazing BUT the coaches rejected her performance. They were confused by her yodeling. Anyway she gave an amazing performance! I was hoping to see her again. I was so delighted to see her on NTV's 2018 "You are super!" She totally amazed the coaches and she finally got the recognition she deserved. It's been all uphill from that point. She now has close to 1 million subscribers to her RUclips channel and added another big WIN in her latest contest singing show on NTV. I agree with the Russian posters who call Diana "The Golden Voice of Russia.
She is phenominal. Start off with "Rechenka" when she was 14, then 2Wicked Games2 at 15. After that just dip in to her catalog. "Havana" is a personal fav.

great reaction ok here is some of what you should know about Diana she is a dramatic contralto the rarest and deepest of all womens voices she uses polyphonic overtones which means in most cases that she can hit 2 notes at the same time she is nicknamed the queen of goosebumps described as being like a siren and her voice is shamanic in nature she has alot of music out there if you go to her chanel on youtube you will find all that you want from like age 10 to now both on shows and on stages also from her home that were done during lockdown in Russia she goes to school at the best school for music in russia she is 18 now she just released her first real studio albumn in Dec. she had another that came out the year before that was done through crowd funding and not as professional she has some of her own music on that albumn she is considered a phenom of music that should be enough for now I will tell you that she prefers people to get the videos of her singing from her chanel and not fan made things because most of those are pirated but that is just a suggestion for you

There are a few western covers she has done, both old and current that I think you might really enjoy. She's done quite a few 80s songs and seems to enjoy music from that era. One is a home studio cover of Take On Me (by A-ha) that she did during the lockdowns using hardware her fans bought her. Another is a small lounge bar setup where she covered "Maybe I, Maybe You" by the Scorpions. Those two are older covers, but can give you a good glimpse into where she was before this performance, vocally. Two more recent live performances were for a radio show. They are covers of Rag'N'Bone Man's Human and Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus. The first two are on Diana's RUclips channel and can be searched as they are titled in English. She is apparently polyphonic. She can sing with at least two tones, ie. a low and a higher register at the same time. So unique and the voice of an angel (and a little devil to cover the low voice). 🤣👍

8 participants (Diana cannot score herself) gave Diana the highest score (9). She won the first episode... and later won the contest.

Diana is a rare contralto voice type, like Cher, but she is also blessed with naturally occurring polyphonic overtones from her vocal chords. In some performances she sounds like multiple simultaneous voices, all without electronic manipulation. She’s been a phenom since about age 10 and is definitely worth exploring her early performances as well.

You have just listened to what may be a true contralto. “Diana Ankudinova, A Russian National Treasure” (My opinion), I have been following her for a while. She is another very interesting story that you will discover. Wait until you hear “Wicked Games”, “Take On Me”, "Human" or "Rechenka" Even though it is in Russian you still feel the emotion behind it. I've heard her sing in Russian, English, French, German, Arabic and Spanish so far. No matter what language it is beautiful.

Long comment can't help myself when someone who has never heard her sing reacts to this song. This is a singing contest so no auto tune and no electronic augmentation. You have 19k views and 2k likes and your video has been up only a few days, so you can see she has a lot of fans. You video must be blocked in Russia because you have so few Russian comments. {don't call her voice weird, you'll get haters} You need to watch Diana at 14 singing Rechenka, and at 15 singing Wicked Games. I'm not surprised you haven't heard a voice like hers before, don't think there is another even close performing today. She is 18 here, so very early in her development as a female singer, but I believe she is already a true polyphonic contralto, {rare}, with amazing range and control. I hope that as she matures, she will transition into a full dramatic contralto, {very rare}. The first judge to comment, the one standing on the top row with the beard and tears in his eyes is Yusif Eyvazov who is married to Anna Netrebko, both who are very well known and respected opera singers. What does it say about her performance if she could move him to tears?

Diana was born in May 2003 in the Far East of Russia. (Height: 1,70 m/ 5,7” ) She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had many pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she abused the child and tried to drown it. One day this 3 year old child was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage.
There she finally found love ... by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist who treated the children from the children's home. Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared, but she could all sing songs from cartoons. A doctor recommended singing lessons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started …
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D6). Diana's voice also sometimes has a polyphonic undertone. You hear: Her voice sounds an octave below the singing voice. (But not everyone can hear that.) Diana also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl.
Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions.
In 2018 and 2019 Diana entered a unique competition and won twice. This project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to RUclips and soon she had millions of fans. She is our goosebump
The project producers help the finalists start their studies and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship.
Igor Krutoy, here as a juror, gave her a small apartment (37m²/398,26 ft²) in Moscow. There, in the small flat she lives with her mother and grandmother and was able to begin her vocal training with the best teachers.
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier than it is 'normal'. That alone shows how smart and hardworking she is.
She applied to music colleges and was rejected (examiners suspected she had a voice defect). But she is totally normal and healthy. Now she is a student at the university, at the legendary Russian State Institute for Theater and Variety Arts. Her seven stunning performances on the "You Are Super" program when she was 14-15 years old that made her famous have disappeared recently since they are owned by the NTV channel which is owned by the Russian government.
