  • Is Somalia on the brink of collapse? For decades the fragile nation has been plagued with problems on multiple fronts - from conflict with al-Shabab to climate change to food and water crises - and has been caught in what seems to be an endless cycle of devastation.
Current President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was also Somalia’s president from 2012 to 2017, has said he is committed to rebuilding the nation. But what does this mean for a country still burdened by conflict and humanitarian issues? And with the threat of famine still looming - can the president bring about some form of stability?
In an UpFront special, Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud sits down with Marc Lamont Hill to discuss the humanitarian and security challenges facing his country.

So, you wish to move from one war to another? that is very forward thinking. Hope for a better economy, and relative peace in the region so that people can actually finish developing this nation. Nothing holds a country back from rapid development like war and corruption and if this development takes too long then people stuck in areas plagued by drought will be trapped there with almost no hope of anything improving.

The one thing I can attest to is that if given an opportunity, Somali people are brilliant and can become highly educated. Each administration that comes has advantages and disadvantages, but we can agree that Somalia needs change for a better life for Somalis and the country. Farmaajo has done a tremendous job in terms of reinforcing government institutions including reforming somali army forces, training special police forces, building roads connecting the capital to central somalia, enabling isxilqaan programs which promoted to build the nation by the people, financial reforms of dept relief, growth of government budget and many others. Of course there were misfortunate things happened during Farmajo regime but always focus on the bright side and what matters is not comparing between the presidents or two persons. The country needs accountability and continuity of institutions progress for basic services including education, liberating the south/central from terrorist groups, working with federal member states, strengthening reconciliation efforts in the country and others. Let's work together with the incumbent president Professor Hassan to have a better future for all of us.

While you guys hate each other based on clan just look at those Somalians outside of the country they don't care they come together as Somali why not inside the country, siad bare was atleast successful eliminating clan system nobody dared speak on behalf of clan even though he commited crimes and created hatred but hey that's what all dictators do so now it all depends on the Somali people to unite and I told you how ☝️

The goverment should also acknowledge previous mistakes they have made so the youths don’t end up joining any type of terrorism. Simply just killing the terroists May results to heavy amounts of recruitments because of all the foreign aid.

The prophet PBUH said that with every hardship comes ease. So we bear our hardship and wait for Allahs mercy and blessing. Qatar government and its Al Jazeera media can keep on hating on Somalia. By the blessing and permission of Allah, Somalia continues to get better and stronger each day. Qatari government sponsored Al-shabab are on the back foot as the Hawiye Somali people fight for their freedom and dignity. Shame on Qatari government. Instead of helping us you choose to kick us in the face. What happened to Muslim brotherhood? Like I said we put out trust in Almighty Allah and we denounce the Qatari government and his Al Jazeera owned media. Even if we leave this world in hardship Allah will reward with Jannah. I ask the Qatari people to please put pressure on Qatari government and its Al-Jazeera media. Qatari people should question why their government is financing Al-shabab terrorist to kill Somali women and children. Why Al-Jazeera is pro Al-Shabab and anti Somali interest.

Their 'president' this guy was slapped in his face by a Ethiopian general Gabre in his own office.
Now he is prostituting himself for his new boss the US.
