Santa Teresa is a booming beach town on the western side of the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It is a beach, surf, and nature lover’s paradise.
Really enjoyed this. Trying to decide where in Costa Rica I want to go live next and was thinking about Santa Teresa. You give a nice presentation. Pura Vida
Ian, what is the situation these days re: covid in Costa Rica generally, and Santa Teresa (and similar smallish towns)...i.e., are people worried about distancing and masks, etc.? Thanks for your great work!
omg prices have gone up so much in the last 10 years. 12 years ago i lived in SF for 1500 a month. San Francisco! And I lived in the lower Haight in a beautiful home with roommates. When I went to Santa Teresa, it cost something like $12 or $15 a night at the hostel. Cheap but someone did steal my board shorts off the clothes line.
You make nice and informational videos. Thanks! Which video of yours would be best to watch for a family with young kids looking to move to Costa Rica?
Glenda Sabbagh, Hopefully we will cover Panama after covid. I just moved to Puerto Vallarta and will be posting a series about the cost of living in Mexico next.
Airbnb is way too expensive. Could a digital nomad find a place like you did? We would just look around for vacancy signs? Is this true for one bedrooms with good wifi?
Costa Rica green airways from San José to Tambor ($100 each way). Flight is 20 minutes, then rent a car and drive. Rentals get hammered in Santa Tere and renting in Tambor they are more forgiving of the nics and ding you’ll inevitably get.
@John Branson Thank you! I really appreciate that. I will try to keep coming out with videos. Jim is working on some in Mexico right now. Thanks a ton for watching.

Harli, If you are looking right now for a furnished, short-time rental, it will be hard to find anything cheap until high-season is over. In April, you will be able to find a place for a good price. Just make sure to get a year lease or they may raise your rent or kick you out and rent it for $1200 a month during high season. Also, it's very hard to get a good deal online. In-person and off-season is how you will get a good price. We will be making a video in the future on how to get a good deal on a rental.
Jennifer Macaluso, Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm wondering if your experience is based on living there during the high-season winter months or based on year-round living?
Darren Ring, We will be posting a series of in-depth videos in the near future about our 8 best places to live in Costa Rica and we will go into much more detail.
Hi been to Santa Teresa many times, nightlife is very fun many places to go to! During the pandemic however there is a curfew at 10 pm. There is an ATM in town as well. No golf courses nearby its very thick vegetation around these parts!
@Joe Lapierre Montezuma is my personal favorite town in all of Costa Rica! Puerto Viejo is next but I was thinking about doing Montezuma after. I loved the community in Montezuma it was absolutely the greatest. Have you been there, if so what did you like? Give me some good info and I will give you a shout out in the video!
@@eonian9784 yes, we have a house in San Ramon, but have spent many a week at Montezuma over the last 15 years. By far my favourite place due to the isolation, bohemian nature, organic/vegetarian food and Playa Grande.
Those places are too fucking expensive. You can rent a good house at the capital for 500 monthly. Outside the capital rent to local people houses. 200 monthly, 300 monthly. You can find good houses where to stay. At least you have a roof to cover you. If you are talking to american, why they need celsius and other spanish messures. Those hotels there are so expensive.

The roads have improved, but are still a fun challenge to the average tourist. I don't recommend driving at night for those not used to CR roads.
@Joe Lapierre Yeah no kidding! Night driving for those who are not used to CR roads should be avoided!
