    Those price are outrageous, I will stick with the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Puerto Vallarta!

      Philippine Cowboy, Costa Rica prices in general are higher than the other places you mentioned but there are many great things about the country that make it a good value for many. I'm living in Puerto Vallarta now for the rest of the winter so I will be reporting on Puerto Vallarta next.

    For those prices I might as well stay on the California coast. Forget that! Too much $$$$. We're looking for bargains. If we wanted to get screwed on prices, we could just stay stateside.

    for those that complain about prices , here is a simple answer , If you want lower prices look in another place Costa rica offers, simple. Costa Rica has something for everyone just like in the US or anywhere else, all of you gringos complaining about price live in a much better place for less money ? if the answer is yes then stay where you at .

      Julio Esquivel, I agree with you completely. Someone should never move to a place because it is cheap. Costa Rica offers amazing nature and adventure and Ticos are some of the friendliest people in the world. Those are the reasons I would recommend Costa Rica.

    I have been interested in looking at living and teaching in Costa Rica but a bit confused with the prices. You estimated that expats would spend around $2,200 a month, but I have heard that most teaching jobs only pay $1,000 a month. How can expats afford to stay in the area?

      @LivingOverseasTV  3 года назад +1

      Amelia Whitehead, If you get a place with roommates, cook all your own meals from local products, you can probably make it work. It depends a lot on your comfort level. To give you an example, I know people that spend over $400 per month on airconditioning their 3 bedroom house and others that don't use AC at all.

      Ah okay thank you for the tip. I’m not sure the logistics of how English teachers can actually afford to work out there if the country is so expensive so think I’ll have to do more research into it. Thanks for the reply!

    FYI, it's pronounced Playa Pelada (Pay-LA-da) not Playa Peladia (Puh-LAY-dee-uh).
