I’m a Costa Rican who lives abroad but visits regularly, you are absolutely right! Prices are getting more expensive, imagine for the locals. I’m fortunate enough to know where to shop and my tours are affordable since I am a national. However, it’s worth every penny. Pura vida!!
Just got back from a week in La Fortuna and I 💯 agree with this! If you want the best food and best prices when you eat go to “sodas” which are mom and pop restaurants that pop up all over the country and many have incredible views
Hello, I am Costa Rican, Costa Rica may be somewhat expensive, but not for Costa Ricans, here the prices for tourists and Ticos are the same. It is possible that Taiwan or Japan are cheaper (although that is not the case), in the end those countries are beautiful, in them you will find an ancient culture, but at the end of the day the truth is that those beautiful countries are not Costa Rica and its vacations are a life experience worth every penny.🇨🇷🕊Pura Vida!
Hahahha what? Born and raised here been a few times to the USA and I would never prefer the USA over costa rica.. Here we live healthier and People here are not as bad mentally as People from USA I dont know if is because first World citizens take too many pills. You wont see costa ricans migrating to europe or USA...
It's not expensive if you go off the beaten path. Only payed $40 for like 2 hours of horseback riding... went to Kauai & we paid $400. Now tell me what's expensive. Our meals were only $3-4. We got plane tickets, a rental car & 15 days stay for only $2,000. Don't buy just anything. Don't buy tours until you're there & get to know the locals. They all knew someone. I love Costa Rica. FYI... it's a jungle so yes there will obviously be down pours.🤦🏻♀️In Cloud Forest in October it dumps rain at about 1pm daily for awhile. Then itself just stops. Lol. It's awesome. Pura Vida ❤✌🏼🦥

Yes, Nicaragua is very beautiful and cheap but very insecure, at least what I experienced and also the harassment of the military in wanting to take money from you at each checkpoint, not always, but I hate that. Me encantó que visitaras a nuestros pueblos indígenas originarios !!!
As a Costarican I wonder...why so many visitors in the capital?
And expensive? Oh yes, quite.
Yea not expensive if you dont go to the tourist traps
Thanks for the heads-up
It's really expensive around tourist attractions. Basically Switzerland and Iceland prices.
Best travel destination in my opinion is Taiwan and Japan.
No but actually!! I think my dinners cost an average of £15 ($17) without drinks 😅
Still much cheaper than Norway! 😅
If you want local, at sodas etc it is so much cheaper
Tosh, it is no way near as expensive as Switzerland. And if you want local at sodas it is even cheaper!
@@macerlythat's cheap considering where I'm from in RI & countries I've visited like aruba

Yes it’s very expensive here in CR and I gave up on wearing anything white a long time ago!!!
My white shoes made it through rivers, rainforest, and beaches. Surprisingly they're still white and I can't wrap my head around it.
We got out of San Jose ASAP! Did you try local sodas? They are more affordable than touristy restaurants.
San José is horrible but Heredia and Escazú are good beautiful cities 🥹 hahaha sorry I Just had to say it
