    I saw the movie The Green Mile before anyone else in my high school did and one day a class of mine decided to show it. Since I knew what was going to happen, I won't deny that seeing what happened to John Coffey was deeply sad to the point of tears the first time around, but seeing the second time around made me more curious how it affected the other students and sure enough, everyone except the teacher and myself were crying. I was called a heartless monster by alot of them since they noticed I didn't shed any tears until I told them I saw it already and knew what was coming.

I have seen all those movies and I have never cried, it simply is how I am, I am sad, but I don't cry, and I doubt that too many people actually cry. Harry Stamper, Armageddon (1998): He gave his life to destroy an asteroid at the last minute...and he had one last word with his only daughter.
    Mr. Spock, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982): Even when he uses logic to sacrifice his life, it doesn't make his loss any easier. LLAP.
    Sam Wheat, Ghost (1990): It was sad to see him die so early in the film, and even sadder when it finally time for him to go to heaven.
    Maximus, Gladiator (2000): Claudius fatally wounds him, he clobbers the SOB to death in the ring, and dies heroically. May we see him in another life, but not yet.

      "Saving Private Ryan"
      Ryan's words at the end of the film amongst his family "Tell me I lived a good life, tell me I'm a good man."

    Jack dying lost a little bit of it’s impact when Mythbusters figured out how to save him and Rose. (Although one could argue that the situation was so chaotic, and the extreme cold meant that neither of them were in the right frame of mind to think, “Hey, let’s tie your life jacket to this door.”)

      That's part of what makes the death so tragic, knowing how it could have gone if they'd had the time to truly think it through. It's one of those times when you can excuse the character's mistakes though, given all of the events that preceded them.

    • @PoolKid75
      @PoolKid75 2 года назад +6

      The Mythbusters only reinforced Jack's need to sacrifice himself for Rose. They proved that the piece of wood (not actually a door) was not buoyant enough or stable enough to support the weight of both Jack and Rose. The idea that either would have the strength, presence of mind or even the ingenuity to tie their life jackets together and put them under the piece of wood is ridiculous. They were both in freezing cold water and had just gone through a harrowing ordeal. They both barely had enough strength left to even get on the piece of wood. Had they stopped to think of the life jacket hack they would've both froze to death.

    I think Doby deserved his own place in the list. Everyone who read Harry Potter loved Doby. He had been Harry's almost secret helper throughout the books. It's a crime he didn't get the same attention in the movies, but it all ended the same way. Doby was a loyal friend to Harry and his friends and gave his life for him. Not only is it a shock with reading the books, but knowing that it's coming when watching the movies is even worse. Not to mention the sad somber music playing and the brilliant acting by Daniel Radcliff to show Harry's panic and sadness in the moment. My parents were upset for months when they first read Deathly Hallows, and both cried their eyes out when they started reading the words on the page. Dumbledore's death was tragic. Cedric's death was a wake up to the dark turn the series would take. But Doby's death was heart-wrenching and left people in shambles.

      I think Jenny gets shit on quite a lot by audiences who don't get the circumstances of her life, especially her childhood. She was a kind girl, but life dealt her several bad hands and she never seemed to get out of wanting to be in the moment, drowning herself in all sorts of things. She did do the damage to herself willingly, but she didn't know any better than self-sabotage. It's a common theme among kids who grew up with sexual trauma.

    One more thing to Note, When Dumbledore said “Severus, Please” before Severus killed him, those who hadn’t read the books were initially thinking that Dumbledore was wanting to stop Severus from killing him.
    But as we learn in the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Dumbledore wanted Severus to kill him to gain Severus Voldemort’s trust and find a weakness, so it makes a surprising twist but also makes it more harrowing that Dumbledore’s death HAD TO Happen so that Harry could win.

    In my opinion there are 4 other characters who deaths that should had been on this list.
    Snape of Harry Potter arguably deserved a spot because while he did loath Harry as he reminded him so much of his late father James, Snape did deep down care for Harry but only for the sake of his old flame Harry’s mother Lily as he indirectly caused her death via Voldemort and wanted to make up for his mistake. And his death in Deathly Hallows part 2 was well done by Alan Rickman especially his final words saying to Harry he has mother’s eyes.
    Another Harry Potter character is Sirius Black as he was Harry’s only loving relative and was like a father figure to Harry. For Harry to see Bellatrix kill him was very heartbreaking and Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘crying’ was dubbed out as it was deemed too depressing and traumatic.
    Joseph Merrick of The Elephant Man should had been on this list too as the film ended in a bittersweet moment with him having severe head disfigurements sleeping normally as his dying wish and it is implied the film ends with his soul reuniting with his mother in heaven.
    But the one character that should made the list is Anakin Skywalker. Sure he was most famous as Darth Vader but even he couldn’t bear to see his own son Luke get killed by Palpatine and sacrifices himself by ridding of Palpatine fulfilling the prophecy of bringing balance to the force and dies after seeing Luke unmasked as well as a redeemed Jedi.

    Bought the limited edition, very expensive box set of The Green Mile, only got through it twice in many years.
    Titanic is overrated, didn't make me sad Jack dying, was almost happy about it at the end.
    Wasn't a single "innocent or good" character on the list in that movie, nobody to truly feel sorry for.
    Maybe the first time I cried to a movie was "my girl" as a kid lol 😆
    When she said "he can't see without his glasses!" It just hit me hard for some reason.
    Only things to touch me as an adult have been Iron Man and Logan, don't cry over it but it's been sad.
    Black widow dying was so sad because of the extremely great acting, you could literally feel their hearts break during it.
    I think Josh Hartnett in pearl harbor should have been listed, and way above titanic bs.
    As he was a truly good person in every way, did nothing out of personal greed or lust, tried his best to be a great friend to everyone.
    Much more touching than Leo's vagrant thieving and conning d*ck just wanting to tap something above his league anyways.

    • @thenecrosanct4906
      @thenecrosanct4906 2 года назад

      I'd argue that there are many in Titanic to feel sorry for. Though having led a long life, the old couple embracing in the bed was touching. The mothers trying to save their children was heartbreaking. In the end, I felt much more for Rose than Jack. He was her way out of an unhappy life and showed her true happiness and freedom, and she loved him for it. To lose that person, to lose the chance to have a life with him, is heartbreaking. And to credit him, he was a brave character. He knew death for him was certain, but he remained brave and positive for Rose's benefit with no regard for himself. Saying he just wanted to tap something above his league is doing his character a disservice in my opinion.
