@@RubyGranger8 Sorry I don’t have instagram (social networks are not really my thing …). I personally prefer RUclips because subjects are more developed (but that’s just me). It would be great to know how authors got to writing what they wrote the way they wrote it. Other idea as well : how these authors can inspire you to write. It can be about other authors who rewrote or were inspired by their previous counterparts or you being inspired to write something thanks to them (either explaining what inspired you - for example writing the story from another point of view - or even sharing your draft, just reading it. Of course the last part is a bit more daring… it's up to you. We fully understand that one is free to share what one wants. I was jusy saying this because I know you want to be a writer (and I also know without a doubt that you're going to be one 😉) and it could be a way to have some feedback. All the best for independent learning year ! ♥️

dear Ruby, you really never fail to surprise me! I’m currently studying independently too and I was feeling a bit burnt out lately and here you are posting the most PERFECT content I need, yet again!
I’m trying to study Pathology independently and take the FRCP exam, it isn’t really easy considering where I live, which was mentally exhausting..
I haven’t even finished a single novel I started reading this year! I’m not where I want to be mentally, academically nor emotionally but somehow I feel really refreshed and motivated after watching this video! I don’t think you realize how impactful you are!! stay healthy and stay happy Ruby ❤

I feel so seen with this video! I have studied at college but then I became ill and now I'm studying independently since many years back. Both for personal development and for curiosity and for the future in case I can work a job again. I'm a little bit older than you (32), but you never fail to teach me things with your wisdom! You're so young but so wise. Never lose that wisdom! Also, I purchased one of your academic planners for my self-study since I, like you, treat it with respect and is serious about it. I study courses online so I do get certified in case I can work in the future which feels rewarding no matter what happens. Thanks for putting out this video!

This year I will learn more about neuropsychology, positive psychology, neuroscience, abnormal psychology, biology, and even a few courses on trauma-informed care for people already in the psychology/social work field (when I worked I was a social worker). I'm looking forward to this soooo much! Hopefully, in the future, I can help people with what I'm now learning. I wish you good luck with your studies as well! It is so interesting that you talk about studying independently! I have been doing it for years as I have a degree in civil engineering but a true passion for so many other areas such as psychology and literature. The bad thing about studying independently is obviously the absence of a degree that "certifies" your knowledge. The goog things are the self paced research, the subjects you choose as well as the ones you add or remove from the original plan, the broad knowledge you achieve among so many others. As a full time working mother time and money are precious and not always available to the "luxury" of academic studies. Thank you for bringing this to discussion! 💓 please keep us updated!

I did my first Master’s in Victorian Studies and my dissertation was the influence of Emily Bronte’s poems and juvenilia on Wuthering Heights. The Bronte parsonage has a sort of reference room/library where you can study in (you need to make a request) and it was such a great experience. I adore and worship the Brontes especially Emily. Her poetry and juvenilia is so fascinating and you can really see the influence on Wuthering Heights.

While it was stressful at times, and I had to do things when I didn't want to do them, it definitely payed off. Hi Ruby! I hope you're well 😊 I just wanna say that seeing you do independent learning makes me want to do the same. I've always wanted to go back studying, however, due to my current circumstances, I can't make time to do so. I'm so excited for this new series! Looking forward to this new chapter of yours! 😊

I love your videos, Ruby, I'm so glad you're continuing to learn without being in a traditional academic environment. Could you make a video on why you decided to study independently? I also wanted to ask, what you plan on doing after this year of study? Would you ever consider pursuing a PhD and/or becoming a professor/academic? Best wishes 🩵

This is something that I have very very very loosely tried in the past and honestly it’s very fun! It really reminds you that learning is actually really fun and fulfilling when you allow it to be. Nowadays I would consider independent learning a hobby of sorts.

Ruby, you’ve inspired me to forge ahead with my goal of reading all the works of Shakespeare. I got about halfway through last year and life seems to have taken over this year. I struggle because I work full time but also have loads of different hobbies. There aren’t enough hours in the day 😂

Suggestion: May consider providing a planner for professionals and non students. I think your planner has a lot of tools a prompt that people that live a mindful/purposeful life appreciate. If the school assignments and exams mentions were removed the same planner can be used by your border audience. Maybe instead of just creating a traditional planner your planner can evolve into the life long learning planner!

Wow this such an amazing idea, I’m excited for you for your upcoming journey with academia! As far as video ideas go: anything that you’re passionate about and would like to share, such as this video! I love that your excitement for this shines through! I also personally love ipad videos, they are relaxing, like ipad study with me’s and learning or just general ipad setup like in this video. I like Q&A’s, since we as viewers tend to get curious! Book reviews, and especially of books that really speak to you and that you feel really struck a cord with you and motivated you in some way no matter how small. I think that would be interesting! Maybe once a month/week updates on how your independent learning curriculum is going, if there’s any little fixes/accommodations as time goes on! Thank you for inspiring me and many others ❤

Dear Ruby, now that you’ve finished your degree and do so much independent research, and especially since you show so much passion for the subject, have you ever cosidered putting all that new research you’re going to do into “use” (independent learning for its own sake is of course also a valid “use”!), and write academic articles and try to get them published?? It think this would be a wonderful opportunity! (But I don’t live in the UK, so I don’t know whether you have to be empolyed at a uni to do this, since in my country this isn’t the case.)
