i made it !!!! Thank you so much it's super easy!!!! The shirr part is nothing ro be afraid of, you just have to get the right settings. (Annika Victoria has a pretty good tuto on shirring btw) I'm so happy to wear my dress!!!!
@@florale1065 sorry if this is a really stupid question, but when Jess says "elastic thread for the under thread" does that mean you put elastic thread onto the bottom bobbin and normal thread on the top thread feeder thing?
OHHH JESS!!! How do you know I was needing this tutorial soooo much?!!! :D Perfect summer dress and it seems so easy to make! I can't wait to try it! Thank you so much for showing us how to make it! ;)
💘 this style of dress. I am happy to learn a way I can make it MYSELF. 😌 I have been holding onto my daughter's old disney sheets thinking what a nice surprise for her if I can sew her old soft bedding into a sundress for her birthday. She will be 21 this month. Jess, you are a trickster coming up with the mock button front, it's very clever.
I found your channel through your face mask tutorial as my sewing machine had just broken and I needed to learn how to hand stitch. Your technique there has really helped me and I loved your style in tutorials, so I looked through your other videos and just bought a new sewing machine a few days ago and can't wait to try out this dress! Thank you so much for making these tutorials so regularly ^^
Lovely thing and you both look cute in them, love the design and such pretty buttons 😍. I'm still gathering courage to do shirring, that thin elastic tears so easily 😑😵! Jess, can you make a classic buttoned-up dress tutorial maybe please?
thank you for doing this in English. These kind of dresses and long maxi dresses are my favorite. Do you have any three-quarter length or full length skirts and any other very feminine girly summer dress patterns or ideas that You could do tutorials on?
The dresses turned out beautiful! And it doesn't seem super difficult to make. Thanks for the video and congrats on the 7 year friendship! 🤗💕✨ (my oldest friendship is 10 years-long!)
I am new to your channel and I so enjoyed your sewing style! Simple yet so beautifully made.... and I love the fact you didn't use a serger at all. Can you do a tutorial for gathered pants? Thank you for uploading your tutorials.
It'll be hard to make without the sewing machine. Because you couldn't do the shirring. So you need to change the design a bit by using the small elastic
I have a question. Do we have to backstitch everything to secure the thread? (For example, when double folding the end of the dress, and also when whirring) thank you :)
Hi jess...with the shearing...when you reach the end...of each line ... how do you finish each line. Do you cut the shearing and knot it.....or do you reverse stitch ....or do you move the foot with the shearing still on to the next line ..thank you ..
kook 1997 I felt like that fir 3 years! I had a friend who was over... ‘protective?’. She was so much larger, taller, stronger than me she could l i t t e r a l y pick me up and MOVE me like a small dog or something if I was taking to someone else (not in class, ofc, someone would notice). She played it off like a game or joke. We were in all the same classes for 3 years, but when I finally broke free, she exploded and said that I was abandoning her, that she’d only been nice to me, what did she do? It’s her (my friend now) or me!!! Someone you’ve just met or me, your long time friend!! I have great friends now, people i can trust. It took me awhile tog et over it, and recently she’s started telling rumors (fake ones, we don’t talk🙄). It takes a lot of luck, but you’ll find your group, I did. Stay strong!
You & your bestie are soo cute! the dress appears so easy to make. I tried the shirring technique last week but it didn't work out well for me, I'm guessing I didn't wind the thread around the bobbin correctly 😥
It happened to me when I first tried shirring too. Just make sure the step to put the elastic thread as the under thread is exactly the same when you do it with the normal thread
I grew up with a smocked dress, it didn’t have shoulder straps, and the smocking never slid down. I had one as a teen also. I love them.
i made it !!!! Thank you so much it's super easy!!!! The shirr part is nothing ro be afraid of, you just have to get the right settings. (Annika Victoria has a pretty good tuto on shirring btw) I'm so happy to wear my dress!!!!
That's great!
I love this type of dresses, it still scares me to try the shirring tho, I hope some day I can do this, thank you so much 😘
Shirring is a lot easier than you would think! I'm a beginner in sewing and managed to do it without problems so you will too! ✨😊
Yeah, it's easier than you think. Let's try it out
Yes I've done it, after a few practise rounds it becomes too easy! Give it a go!
Carina Rdz i tried shirring (im a beginner) i had some problems at first but i eventually got it to work , just keep trying 😌

I bought it at the local store in my city
Amazing!!💖💖💖 You are great!! The best!! Is beautiful ✨❤️💐
Thank you so much!!
Lindos vestidos!😍

Thanks a lot 😊
Do you do back stitch when you’re using elastic bobin? Some say don’t and I’m still not sure how to use it
No, I just use a normal straight stitching. Just sew as normal but use the elastic as the under thread
Lindo!!!
Very beautiful . Please make an Arabic translation please
Superb 👍🏻👌🏻👍🏻🙂🙂
Thanks 🤗
Love the dress! What fabric did you use?
I used loose linen fabric
Liked before watching it. Cuz I love you❤🌟

will shirring work on silky fabrics like Georgette?
Yes, it still work
7 years of friendship wow and I don't even have someone to called friend😞
I think you might have at least one :)
can i be your friend?

when you use the elastic thread, do you still backstitch at the start and finish of each line?
I did. I also tied them after to make sure it won't fall apart
