I LOVE that you're entering the BTS world through the rap/rock door. So many people find them through the English songs, but I think those are so tame and not wholly representative of what the group creates. I agree with others...definitely watch the 2019 MMA award show performance of Dionysus...EPIC

Jin went crazy with belts in Dionysus, from 2nd octave low notes to high F#5 belt, he did live in Mots7 one online concert. Jin and V has a 4.5 octave range 2nd to 6th octave range. All thanks to Jhope for making the masterpiece Dionysus. There’s a bit autotune in Dionysus studio version but not in live. I sincerely hope BTS releases some real rock songs in their career.
So for Dionysus, you kinda hit it sool - is the Korean word for wine/alcohol Yesool - Korean word for art so they are doing wordplays here..basically they are getting drunk in their art and it no longer matters what anyone says, they know for themselves and those who believe them that they are true artists 💜 If you're amazed by their Not Today MV, wait until you get to Fake Love, Blood Sweat and Tears, Spring Day MVs..the cinematography is *chef's kiss* In Army world even the people behind them are considered rockstars and revered almost as much as Bts..Bang Pd (the big guy), their in-house producers (mainly Pdogg and Slow Rabbit), their choreographer/performance director Mr. Son, they are all much loved in the fandom 💜 it is all love in here 😊

This performance is amazing! But I would recommend waiting on it and watching the entire 2019 MMA after you get to know a bit more of their music. It is an epic performance, but each part kinda builds on itself. Their comeback special is another great version of Dionysus for sure! Either way is great!

MMA 2019 is outstanding for real but dionysus is the last song performed in the set of 5 songs, before remixes for their individual intro dances. I would like to suggest their Speak Yourself Concert the finale where they performed both songs back to back.. 💜
Don't hear Jin's low vocals enough and yes he can hit those high notes' too. Their Danger MV and dance practice are one of my favorites. Danger also has a 2nd video with a popular Viet Nan singer Thanh and is different than and just as good as the original.
I am 52 and grew up on rock and metal but BTS is my favorite group. There are no harder workers than these guys. Watching thier journey from the beginning and all thier struggles but still they are always humble and down to earth. The best documentary series out there put together by an ARMY is the rise of bangtan which is amazing and the fact its free when she should charge for it i would pay it is so good. I highly recommend it. BTS made vlogs of thier journey from before they debut so she put together all the vlogs into it to tell thier journey. Also they are even better live than the videos. I just saw them in Vegas last month hope they come to the east coast next time so I can see them again. You might want to start in order and go from thier debut which they started more as hip-hop and see thier journey to artists they are today then jumping all over. They also have a fictional storyline that runs through some of thier videos watching in order is probably best if you want to go down that rabbit hole. No more dream is thier debut mv.from 2013 They are so young Jungkook was only 15 when they debut. They did put out cove songs and other free content on SoundCloud before thiey debut too. Look forward to your journey down the rabbit hole it's huge.
April, you and I are so similar! For the last 20+ years I've been listening to hard and alt metal. My last concerts were Korn, Slipknot, and Tool but I absolutely love BTS! ( I will admit I was into the British New Wave in the 80s though lol) I'm really hoping for East coast tour dates 💜

Yes, they do have an amazing choreographer called Son Sungdeuk. He has been with them since day one and has a very close relationship with the members, to the point where he even brought his little toddler to their dance practice room, it was so cute to see them make funny faces in front of the kid lol. Sometimes, he also asks for help from other choreographers (because let's be real, when you're doing this for years, you need some more inspiration and help lol). Among the BTS members, Jhope is considered the "dance leader", because he directs their performances, always is on point, and helps the other members learn the moves. Hope this information was clear !
J hope also sometimes contributes his own moves to the choreo. And yeah son sungdeuk is an awesome choreographer who's been with them from the start! I didn't know he brought his toddler too, I somehow missed that, how cute! 💜
And in a concert, they dance that hard AND sing live. Many of their MVs have a behind the scenes of the making of the MV that I’d bet you’d enjoy. I’m loving your enthusiasm.

They opened the show with these two songs back to back and their choreos for both are intense! So much energy it’s amazing they could continue for another 2.5 hrs! So good live. And yes Jin had a really low note followed by a high pitched note, but I find u can only hear the extreme diff in the live of Dionysus 💜
Thank you for reacting to 2 of my favorite BTS songs. I was a teenager in the 70's, so I was spoiled by good rock music. Now BTS is my favorite group. Dionysus was written by J Hope. Not Today was written by RM. The begining of Not Today is from the 2nd Lord of the Rings:Return of the King and it is from Aragorn:'s battle speech. "Aragorn: "A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day, today we fight." But you know RM, he probably read it in the book not the movie. lol Also quoted: Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”
i am 38 years old and i listen to alot of metal and rock music and i was raised around metal and rock music when i was a child...well 3 years ago i was wondering why my 15 year old daughter was obsessed with these guys and i did research about them and fell in love with them...these guys helped with my depression and anxiety and has helped alot of people around the world. Dionysus song is one of my favorites from them and i actually have that song as my ringtone on my cellphone atm. I just subscribed to your channel and i like your reaction on this. I didn't even realize you hadn't reacted to an MV by BTS before!! Holy moly. Dude. Some of their videos are insane with level of production (once BTS got popular enough to make their company some money to spend, LOL). For great production, plus still on the rap-track you've been on, maybe try Suga's solo persona, Agust-D, and his song/MV 'Daechwita' BTS have their own choreographer, but also use outside talent for choreo, too. They may add a move here and there, but just don't have time to choreograph their own songs
All of BTS’s MV are cinematic one of my favorites is AGustd aka Suga solo song Daechwita check that out it has a head bangin beat mixed with traditional Korean instrumentals very unique.
4:20 I think Dionysus is kind of a drinking song and kind of a song about making art. Like, on the surface it's about drinking and partying, but it's also describing it as an artistic process. Fall into the art like a glass of wine. Drink our music like it'll get you drunk. The band and their label has talked about that they always try to give listeners multiple layers. If you don't want to look deeper, you should still enjoy the song, but if you DO look deeper, you should find something there.

Fr we feel you, people that have known me for a long time still find it weird that i like BTS... But one thing that i love about grunge, indie rock, Alt rock and rock in general are the lyrics... And that's probably what got me the most from BTS mostly Namjoon and and Yoongi are such great song writers

Lol I think I found new bestie. Love your reactions. I'm also a metal head since I was a kid, wearing band shirts everywhere I go, I do skateboarding, part of a small local band. And most importantly I love BTS, listener since 2013 became ARMY in 2015.
Like others have said they have a main choreographer Son Sung-deuk, he has been there from the start and used to occasionally back up dance or stand in for Suga(appendectomy) in 2015. J-hope has a lot of input and when the dancers do solo stuff they have added their own choreo in. They also have guest choreographers one of my favorites is Brian Puspos and more recently Sienna Lalau from LA's the Lab. She choreographed ON Kinetic Manifesto Film Come Prima which is killer my favorite MV next to Black Swan. It is a sick MV and I can't wait for you to see it, the drone shots and long takes are ridiculous. And isn't it nice to find out you are not alone? I'm not a metal head but I did have a love for British Punk music in the 80's. I am always amazed that I love me some Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Radiohead and now BTS is my favorite, who knew. Zepp rocks! They have some cover bands here that are good; one plays Red Rocks most every summer, and that’s only 45 minutes away for me (the U2 film with them playing Red Rocks is epic!). And I love so much of Prince’s work. I wanted to see him when they had the dinner show in Vegas but never made it out there for that. Sad he and Michael are gone. Huge loss for us all.
I grew up loving music like Bon Jovi, Garbage, The Offspring, Guns 'n' Roses,... But I *NEVER* connected with a group the way I have with BTS. I think it's the combination of an inspiring positive message, unusual topics and inspirations, raw personal lyrics and their goofy fun-loving personalities. They're also not afraid to show that yes they do feel down, cry, argue and become exhausted *but* they persevere! In other words: They're human and relatable! And then there's ARMY...my purple family. The diversity is unmatched and I've "met" so many wonderful people from all around the world who've helped restore my very deflated faith in humanity. (Borahae guys 👋) But enough about me... If you think this mv is amazing - man, are you in for a treat or ten! 😅 And keep in mind that if it can be built, they probably did it. They only use CGI if it's absolutely necessary. Some mv imagery may seem a bit confusing, possibly because it related to the fictional storyline that connects a lot of their songs, but they can always stand alone. *Tips and recommendations:* -If you want subtitles on their older songs you need to get them from the RUclips channel 1theK. It's just as official and safe to react to. - If ARMY blasts you with "You should definitely watch the explanation video" for a song or mv, it’s usually for a good/important reason. 😅 (like Spring Day, Ddaeng, Ugh!, Baepsae, ON,...) - And when you get to Fake Love treat yourself to the extended version as well - that's the rock vibe remix. 🤘😎👍 Excited to follow your BTS journey however long it may be... 💜 - a Danish ARMY, age 45

Fuck yes! Home sick today, I needed this hype energy! Lots of folk are recommending MMA 2019, but I really hope you take the chance to listen to all the songs included in that performance beforehand, so you can understand the context and amazingness of the performance in its entirety.
This is the reason I haven't had him react to the 2019 MMA yet. I know he's going to love it and I can't wait for him to get there, but I want him to have a better feel for the members and the other songs performed and the difference between a "normal" live show and the MMA live show. 💜

The fact that your first music video reaction is for my favourite BTS music video ever... 😂 For me, nothing can top this ! It has been my favourite for years. Of course, they do have a lot of cool music videos, but this one, Not Today, in my opinion, is the most epic out of all of them.

Im from a small town too and I was the outcast, and kinda still am, bc I like korean and japanese stuff... my group of childhood friends, i love them they are my family, but they dont like these stuff.. so it made me find friends online (happily I met a lot of wonderful people and it's been 15 years since then and we still talk on a daily basis)... also once in uni I found more friends who liked anime and those stuff (I went to an art uni haha)... I dont feel like an outcast a lot anymore, but I still am the only one I know who stans BTS so sometimes that feeling strikes again..
Oh my! I love their MV and studio version but I love their live performances more 💜 the energy! Just lit. Also V and Jin could hit high notes and low notes. I rarely hear Jin's low notes. V sometimes sing in high notes too.
I have liked & loved many bands in my teens and twenties (pop, rock, indie, metal) and then I just got bored as there was nothing new anymore so I just didn't bother anymore. I am now in my late forties and I stumbled across BTS 6 months ago and OMG, I have never been so impressed, engrossed and absorbed by this group. Its not just one thing because as many people have said already, its the quality of singing and dancing, the MVs, the live performances, the positive message, their personalities being down to earth and goofiness, the battles they faced from pre debut days to current. Most of this are uploaded on youtube. Its like watching a reality show but you will be able to see how a group is formed and have grown to be the success they are today. It is an amazing journey and regardless of your taste in music....its hard not to be impressed by how hard they work to hone in on the craft and it shows. Enjoy the ride :)

I started listening to their music about 6 months ago and I can't get enough. I think it's also because they are such good people and I love their positive message that I like their music even more. You will love Dionysus live. A few hours ago I caught a BangtanTV rehearsal video for Fake Love for the MAMA 2018 award show, where the arrangement is rock-ish with great guitar work. You would appreciate the sound for sure. You would also like watching it for its big group dance practice, with BTS plus backup dancers. (Jimin does a dangerous jump. Jimin's background includes black belt Taekwondo and eight years of Kendo or Kumdo. His skills and experience are why he's the usual member to do advanced dance tricks and aerials.)

Dionysus is nuts live. Genuinely one of my favorites. They actually had to change the original dance bc it was way to hard to sustain for long period of time and they kept getting hurt. Also, I totally feel you on the small country town outcast thing. I was the exact same way and BTS are a huge reason I've grown so much. Me 6 years ago is not anything like me know. I was a quiet, depressed, Christian girl who was scared to tell people what I actually believed and thought I'd be stuck in my hometown forever. To now being the super loud liberal alt person covered in tattoos and plans on leaving and never coming back after I graduate college next year. It's amazing what having good people encouraging you to love yourself can do for you!

Even when they were really poor and the money was super tight in their company, they never skimped on production, all their funds were poured in it. That's why from 2013 till present all their MVs are dope. Even "Dope" which has a very limited set and tools used.🤯 Someone recommended some of their older songs, I second it. War of Hormone, Danger, Boy in Love MVs. From live performances Rise of Bangtan/Attack on Bangtan is crazy. Pure crackhead energy! 🤟😜🔥💜💜💜

Drink it up…. Awesome reactions to these songs. BTS has a song out there for whatever a listener is into. Most Army know all the song and versions of song and can ease you down the rabbit hole where you will find your taste in music change and you will like pretty much everything. Even stuff you didn’t like at first listen. The more you listen and understand the lyrics you will change your mind about it. 😉 Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole and Army is right here for you. As Jimin says: You nice, keep going! I have lived a long life and have listened to many different bands and gone to so many concerts growing up I have lost count. But honestly these guys are the best group I have listened to. There are other Korean groups out there that are trying to be like BTS but they just don’t have what BTS has. Oh now you have gone and done it, you watched one of their MV. Omgosh you are in trouble now. 🤣 Their videos even some of their old videos are like fricking moves and so good you do not want them to end. Everything in their MVs has a meaning to them and many of the MVs are connected. They have a message and tell a story. BTS has so much content out there it is unreal. If you want to learn more about their personalities check out Run BTS, In the Soop & Bon Voyage shows. These are true entertainers. The can sing, rap, dance, play instruments, artists like in painting, they can right music, they can produce music, they are smart, funny, but they are also down to earth, they are like brothers, best friends, they are family. their videos are all great production. BTS doesn't ever not five their best. You need to see the MV for Fire, Dope, DNA, and Fake Love. I stayed until the end lol
"Not Today" was also my first BTS MV, and I can still recall the exact moment that I fell head over heels for these dudes while watching it. This one will always have a special place in my heart.

I also have always felt like an alien. I am heavy metal banger in a town that only listens to country. I discovered BTS last fall and listen to them exclusively now. However, that still makes me an alien. The fact that I'm 62 just adds to that. Becoming ARMY has allowed me to meet people virtually that share my passion for this group of men and to be accepted on so many levels. People with similar backgrounds, people in my age range, people that just enjoy music that are also alone in their adoration of BTS.

Yay! Amazing triple reaction! They have an in house choreographer who had been with them from the beginning but he also works with or brings in outside folks since they have gotten bigger. JHope is the dance leader and also contributes his thoughts and help making this work for the team and Jimin as a lead dancer also contributes. The two work to make sure the less strong dancers get the choreography especially during performances. The dance line is currently JHope, Jimin, Jungkook, and V. Suga’s a surprisingly good dancer but he has had a shoulder injury since right before their 2013 debut that stopped him b-boying and he complains a lot about it but then will pop off some amazing moves (he finally got surgery end of 2020 for it and was out 3 months and omg did the other 6 miss him it was adorable). Jin and RM work their butts to the none to keep up and do so but it’s much harder for them to learn choreography. Dionysus is a hype song and I love the idea that they want us to join them getting drunk on art both making and consuming it, just a stellar hype message. One of their most intense choreographies. JHope actually was the producer for this song and he killed it writing this and then co-producing it with others. Not Today uses the Martin Luther King Jr quote “if you cant run walk, if you can walk crawl..” and this is about them but significantly it came out when Korea was having a lot of political problems and massive protests and it’s on the same album as Spring Day (the most significant ballad they ever wrote and the MV has so many hidden messages about a national tragedy where hundreds of children died so do not go into it without being in a good head space the MV is amazing movie like but the explanation videos have really upset many reactors and some can’t even finish it because of their anger over the corruption that led to it). So to me there is strong significance that during political unrest when they refer to a tragedy (urging this time speaking about the Sewol Tragedy could get you blacklisted by the govt) they have a song quoting MLK with a message to the underdogs to not give up and keep fighting and the choreography very vividly shows people being shot down. Many many people will request Spring Day I say tackle it when you are further along. Enjoy the journey time enough later for it. Can’t wait for the lives love your commentary!

One of the things I really respect about them is that I never feel like a member is just ‘calling it in’ if they are not the featured voice. Not all songs fit all voices. Some songs just fit one member’s vocal range better than another, but all the members will work just as hard if they are in the front or the back. You see that, even more, in the live shows and practices. Then in the MV, if one person has a smaller singing part, you tend not to notice because that member still has screen time that makes them shine. So, hats off the Big Hit for not making one member more important than another. This is why I believe that each person will have a successful solo project. No one member has ever been more important than another in the production of the group’s art.

My favourite live performance of Dionysus is from the MMA 2019 award show. They were given a lot of time to just show-off their talent despite it being an award show and it's basically a BTS medley that spans some of their oldest songs to a few of the more modern (as at 2019) ones and it ends with Dionysus. So if you want to try reacting that slice of awesomeness, I'd recommend you react to the other songs that they performed and the songs they used snippets of to get the full impact. The full songs they performed were 'Intro: Persona', 'Boy in Luv', 'Boy with Luv' (ft Halsey), 'Mikrokosmos'. Each of those songs other than Mikrokosmos has a music video that you can check out for a lyrics reaction and music video reaction. Then there are the songs they used snippets of for remixes in a special segment. They were 'No More Dream', 'Danger', 'I Need U', 'Fire', 'Save Me', and 'Fake Love' (they all have music videos). This might seem daunting and a lot of work, but if you're looking for ideas for content and if or whenever you feel open for the (bigggg) challenge you can try exploring those songs/lyrics and music videos. You can treat it as a way to explore more of their eras of music, the styles they had over time and see different types of messages and videos they had over the near-decade. I think it would give you a big of their range (though not all of it) and you can treat yourself after to the well earned live performance which I personally feel is my fave from them of all time.
This is exactly the reason I haven't had him watch it yet. I wanted him to hear and see the other songs performed first and to see a live performance in a "normal" setting before seeing the MMA version so he could truly appreciate it. All are on the schedule though and coming soon! Thanks for the suggestion!

Growing up, I went from listening Backstreet boys to Simple Plan to Good charlotte to the Beatles to Linkin Park to Paramore to Avenged Sevenfold and fast forward to now, BTS. So yeah I am pretty sure that music know no boundaries. If you like it and vibing with it, it is for you.

dionysus lyrics are talking about getting drunk in art and fame. the further you read about its lyrics the cooler it sounds like it has veryyy interesting lyrics. and if you see the album sequence, it is dionysus+ shadow+ black swan. this makes perfect sense because dionysus talks about getting drunk in their art and fame, shadow talks about the negative effects of achieving such stardom and getting too obsessive with your art and then black swan talks about the fear of losing the passion for their art

Hello there, I'm a few months late to this reaction, but I just found your channel. I'm so happy to see fellow metal heads and rockers falling on the BTS rabbit hole. I'm 34 years old and I remember a few years ago how much I refused the idea of listening to BTS. 3 years ago it all changed for me and I got interested to actually get to know them and their music, I haven't looked back since then. I realized how much they've worked to get to where they are right now, that they actually pay a lot of attention to every single song they put out, and not only that, but so far, I haven't seen/met any other group or band to have a sincere and really close relationship with their fans, to the point that they actually have several songs dedicated to them. I've been a rocker for a long time, I was obsessed with INCUBUS for years. I went to a few of their concerts, and even tho I love their music, I don't feel that same connection as I do with each one of the members of BTS. They not only care about their music and their art, but also about their fans, and the message they want to put out. I'm happy to say that I'm ARMY now. My friends tease me a lot because of it but I'm hopping that sooner or later they'll be a bit more open to it. Anyways, I'm excited to check out more of your reactions, greetings from the north of México! :)
I have been a Stan of BTS for years. Not today for me is my favourite song of theirs by far. I can never listen to this enough. All their songs are masterpieces collectively and individually. But not today it hits me hard of all the times people try and use me and hold me. It's the perfect mantra NOT TODAY.
I think you would also love their song ON. It is comparable to the two watched here. The ON: Kenetic Manifesto Film is the video it premiered with (off MV came out later) and will give you similar hyped feelings... with a few surprises! 😁💜
There is also a making of for the Not Today MV…they do them for most of their MV’s & they are so interesting. I know you’ve got a ton of music content to catch up on but you might enjoy them one day. Also, fellow grew up in a small town in the south here. You are not alone. lol.

I could see these songs really getting you out of a bad headspace, I'm sorry to hear you have to deal with that, I have really bad anxiety and have learned a few ways to deal with it over the last few years, lol I literally had a panic attack before ever single show I've ever played!
They have choreographers that work with them but they do throw in their own input into the final routines...especially Jhope. You really should watch a live of Dionysus. It's amazing.

I LOVE that you're entering the BTS world through the rap/rock door. So many people find them through the English songs, but I think those are so tame and not wholly representative of what the group creates. This performance is amazing! But I would recommend waiting on it and watching the entire 2019 MMA after you get to know a bit more of their music. It is an epic performance, but each part kinda builds on itself. Their comeback special is another great version of Dionysus for sure! Either way is great!

MMA 2019 is outstanding for real but dionysus is the last song performed in the set of 5 songs, before remixes for their individual intro dances. I would like to suggest their Speak Yourself Concert the finale where they performed both songs back to back.. 💜

Don't hear Jin's low vocals enough and yes he can hit those high notes' too. Their Danger MV and dance practice are one of my favorites. Danger also has a 2nd video with a popular Viet Nan singer Thanh and is different than and just as good as the original.

I am 52 and grew up on rock and metal but BTS is my favorite group. There are no harder workers than these guys. Watching thier journey from the beginning and all thier struggles but still they are always humble and down to earth. The best documentary series out there put together by an ARMY is the rise of bangtan which is amazing and the fact its free when she should charge for it i would pay it is so good. I highly recommend it. BTS made vlogs of thier journey from before they debut so she put together all the vlogs into it to tell thier journey. Also they are even better live than the videos. I just saw them in Vegas last month hope they come to the east coast next time so I can see them again. You might want to start in order and go from thier debut which they started more as hip-hop and see thier journey to artists they are today then jumping all over. They also have a fictional storyline that runs through some of thier videos watching in order is probably best if you want to go down that rabbit hole. No more dream is thier debut mv.from 2013 They are so young Jungkook was only 15 when they debut. They did put out cove songs and other free content on SoundCloud before thiey debut too. Look forward to your journey down the rabbit hole it's huge.
April, you and I are so similar! For the last 20+ years I've been listening to hard and alt metal. My last concerts were Korn, Slipknot, and Tool but I absolutely love BTS! ( I will admit I was into the British New Wave in the 80s though lol)

Yes, they do have an amazing choreographer called Son Sungdeuk. He has been with them since day one and has a very close relationship with the members, to the point where he even brought his little toddler to their dance practice room, it was so cute to see them make funny faces in front of the kid lol. Sometimes, he also asks for help from other choreographers (because let's be real, when you're doing this for years, you need some more inspiration and help lol).
Among the BTS members, Jhope is considered the "dance leader", because he directs their performances, always is on point, and helps the other members learn the moves.

J hope also sometimes contributes his own moves to the choreo. And yeah son sungdeuk is an awesome choreographer who's been with them from the start! I didn't know he brought his toddler too, I somehow missed that, how cute! 💜

They opened the show with these two songs back to back and their choreos for both are intense! So much energy it’s amazing they could continue for another 2.5 hrs! So good live. And yes Jin had a really low note followed by a high pitched note, but I find u can only hear the extreme diff in the live of Dionysus 💜

Not Today was written by RM. The begining of Not Today is from the 2nd Lord of the Rings:Return of the King and it is from Aragorn:'s battle speech. "Aragorn: "A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day, today we fight." But you know RM, he probably read it in the book not the movie. lol Also quoted: Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”

i am 38 years old and i listen to alot of metal and rock music and i was raised around metal and rock music when i was a child...well 3 years ago i was wondering why my 15 year old daughter was obsessed with these guys and i did research about them and fell in love with them...these guys helped with my depression and anxiety and has helped alot of people around the world. Dionysus song is one of my favorites from them and i actually have that song as my ringtone on my cellphone atm. I just subscribed to your channel and i like your reaction on this. I cant wait to see your bts journey with these guys u wont regret it.

I didn't even realize you hadn't reacted to an MV by BTS before!! Holy moly. Dude. Some of their videos are insane with level of production (once BTS got popular enough to make their company some money to spend, LOL). For great production, plus still on the rap-track you've been on, maybe try Suga's solo persona, Agust-D, and his song/MV 'Daechwita'
BTS have their own choreographer, but also use outside talent for choreo, too. They may add a move here and there, but just don't have time to choreograph their own songs

4:20 I think Dionysus is kind of a drinking song and kind of a song about making art. Like, on the surface it's about drinking and partying, but it's also describing it as an artistic process. Fall into the art like a glass of wine. Drink our music like it'll get you drunk. The band and their label has talked about that they always try to give listeners multiple layers. If you don't want to look deeper, you should still enjoy the song, but if you DO look deeper, you should find something there.

But one thing that i love about grunge, indie rock, Alt rock and rock in general are the lyrics...
And that's probably what got me the most from BTS mostly Namjoon and and Yoongi are such great song writers

Like others have said they have a main choreographer Son Sung-deuk, he has been there from the start and used to occasionally back up dance or stand in for Suga(appendectomy) in 2015. J-hope has a lot of input and when the dancers do solo stuff they have added their own choreo in. They also have guest choreographers one of my favorites is Brian Puspos and more recently Sienna Lalau from LA's the Lab. She choreographed ON Kinetic Manifesto Film Come Prima which is killer my favorite MV next to Black Swan. It is a sick MV and I can't wait for you to see it, the drone shots and long takes are ridiculous.
And isn't it nice to find out you are not alone? I'm not a metal head but I did have a love for British Punk music in the 80's. I am always amazed that I love me some Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Radiohead and now BTS is my favorite, who knew. I guess I have always been a sucker for men that can dance. (Prince💜) 🤣🤣🤣

Zepp rocks! They have some cover bands here that are good; one plays Red Rocks most every summer, and that’s only 45 minutes away for me (the U2 film with them playing Red Rocks is epic!).
And I love so much of Prince’s work. I wanted to see him when they had the dinner show in Vegas but never made it out there for that. Sad he and Michael are gone. Huge loss for us all.
I grew up loving music like Bon Jovi, Garbage, The Offspring, Guns 'n' Roses,... But I *NEVER* connected with a group the way I have with BTS. I think it's the combination of an inspiring positive message, unusual topics and inspirations, raw personal lyrics and their goofy fun-loving personalities. They're also not afraid to show that yes they do feel down, cry, argue and become exhausted *but* they persevere! In other words: They're human and relatable!
And then there's ARMY...my purple family. The diversity is unmatched and I've "met" so many wonderful people from all around the world who've helped restore my very deflated faith in humanity. (Borahae guys 👋)
But enough about me... If you think this mv is amazing - man, are you in for a treat or ten! 😅 And keep in mind that if it can be built, they probably did it. They only use CGI if it's absolutely necessary. Some mv imagery may seem a bit confusing, possibly because it related to the fictional storyline that connects a lot of their songs, but they can always stand alone.
*Tips and recommendations:*
-If you want subtitles on their older songs you need to get them from the RUclips channel 1theK. It's just as official and safe to react to.
- If ARMY blasts you with "You should definitely watch the explanation video" for a song or mv, it’s usually for a good/important reason. 😅 (like Spring Day, Ddaeng, Ugh!, Baepsae, ON,...)
- And when you get to Fake Love treat yourself to the extended version as well - that's the rock vibe remix. 🤘😎👍

Lots of folk are recommending MMA 2019, but I really hope you take the chance to listen to all the songs included in that performance beforehand, so you can understand the context and amazingness of the performance in its entirety.
This is the reason I haven't had him react to the 2019 MMA yet. I know he's going to love it and I can't wait for him to get there, but I want him to have a better feel for the members and the other songs performed and the difference between a "normal" live show and the MMA live show. 💜

I just wanted to say I love that you appreciate lyrics and that you read them while watching the performances. Im from a small town too and I was the outcast, and kinda still am, bc I like korean and japanese stuff... my group of childhood friends, i love them they are my family, but they dont like these stuff.. so it made me find friends online (happily I met a lot of wonderful people and it's been 15 years since then and we still talk on a daily basis)... also once in uni I found more friends who liked anime and those stuff (I went to an art uni haha)... I dont feel like an outcast a lot anymore, but I still am the only one I know who stans BTS so sometimes that feeling strikes again..

Oh my! I love their MV and studio version but I love their live performances more 💜 the energy! Just lit. Also V and Jin could hit high notes and low notes. I rarely hear Jin's low notes. V sometimes sing in high notes too.
Jin and V really impress me I cant wait to see what they do live!
I have liked & loved many bands in my teens and twenties (pop, rock, indie, metal) and then I just got bored as there was nothing new anymore so I just didn't bother anymore. I am now in my late forties and I stumbled across BTS 6 months ago and OMG, I have never been so impressed, engrossed and absorbed by this group. Its not just one thing because as many people have said already, its the quality of singing and dancing, the MVs, the live performances, the positive message, their personalities being down to earth and goofiness, the battles they faced from pre debut days to current. Most of this are uploaded on youtube. Its like watching a reality show but you will be able to see how a group is formed and have grown to be the success they are today. It is an amazing journey and regardless of your taste in music....its hard not to be impressed by how hard they work to hone in on the craft and it shows. Enjoy the ride :)

So great to see you're checking out BTS. My husband is also a rock and metal fan, but he really doesn't want anything to do with BTS.....yet. So narrow-minded of him 🙄. I started listening to their music about 6 months ago and I can't get enough. I think it's also because they are such good people and I love their positive message that I like their music even more.

A few hours ago I caught a BangtanTV rehearsal video for Fake Love for the MAMA 2018 award show, where the arrangement is rock-ish with great guitar work. You would appreciate the sound for sure. You would also like watching it for its big group dance practice, with BTS plus backup dancers. (Jimin does a dangerous jump. Jimin's background includes black belt Taekwondo and eight years of Kendo or Kumdo. His skills and experience are why he's the usual member to do advanced dance tricks and aerials.)

Dionysus is nuts live. Genuinely one of my favorites. They actually had to change the original dance bc it was way to hard to sustain for long period of time and they kept getting hurt.
Also, I totally feel you on the small country town outcast thing. I was the exact same way and BTS are a huge reason I've grown so much. Me 6 years ago is not anything like me know. I was a quiet, depressed, Christian girl who was scared to tell people what I actually believed and thought I'd be stuck in my hometown forever. To now being the super loud liberal alt person covered in tattoos and plans on leaving and never coming back after I graduate college next year. It's amazing what having good people encouraging you to love yourself can do for you!

Even when they were really poor and the money was super tight in their company, they never skimped on production, all their funds were poured in it. That's why from 2013 till present all their MVs are dope. Even "Dope" which has a very limited set and tools used.🤯 Someone recommended some of their older songs, I second it. War of Hormone, Danger, Boy in Love MVs. From live performances Rise of Bangtan/Attack on Bangtan is crazy. Pure crackhead energy! 🤟😜🔥💜💜💜

Awesome reactions to these songs. BTS has a song out there for whatever a listener is into. Most Army know all the song and versions of song and can ease you down the rabbit hole where you will find your taste in music change and you will like pretty much everything. Even stuff you didn’t like at first listen. The more you listen and understand the lyrics you will change your mind about it. 😉

I have lived a long life and have listened to many different bands and gone to so many concerts growing up I have lost count. But honestly these guys are the best group I have listened to.
There are other Korean groups out there that are trying to be like BTS but they just don’t have what BTS has.
Oh now you have gone and done it, you watched one of their MV. Omgosh you are in trouble now. 🤣 Their videos even some of their old videos are like fricking moves and so good you do not want them to end. Everything in their MVs has a meaning to them and many of the MVs are connected. They have a message and tell a story.
BTS has so much content out there it is unreal. If you want to learn more about their personalities check out Run BTS, In the Soop & Bon Voyage shows. These are true entertainers. The can sing, rap, dance, play instruments, artists like in painting, they can right music, they can produce music, they are smart, funny, but they are also down to earth, they are like brothers, best friends, they are family. If they have issues the discuss them as a group and resolve it as a good. They are not like any other group out there.

I also have always felt like an alien. I am heavy metal banger in a town that only listens to country. I discovered BTS last fall and listen to them exclusively now. However, that still makes me an alien. The fact that I'm 62 just adds to that. Becoming ARMY has allowed me to meet people virtually that share my passion for this group of men and to be accepted on so many levels. People with similar backgrounds, people in my age range, people that just enjoy music that are also alone in their adoration of BTS.

Yay! Amazing triple reaction! They have an in house choreographer who had been with them from the beginning but he also works with or brings in outside folks since they have gotten bigger. JHope is the dance leader and also contributes his thoughts and help making this work for the team and Jimin as a lead dancer also contributes. The two work to make sure the less strong dancers get the choreography especially during performances. The dance line is currently JHope, Jimin, Jungkook, and V. Suga’s a surprisingly good dancer but he has had a shoulder injury since right before their 2013 debut that stopped him b-boying and he complains a lot about it but then will pop off some amazing moves (he finally got surgery end of 2020 for it and was out 3 months and omg did the other 6 miss him it was adorable). Jin and RM work their butts to the none to keep up and do so but it’s much harder for them to learn choreography. Dionysus is a hype song and I love the idea that they want us to join them getting drunk on art both making and consuming it, just a stellar hype message. One of their most intense choreographies. JHope actually was the producer for this song and he killed it writing this and then co-producing it with others. Not Today uses the Martin Luther King Jr quote “if you cant run walk, if you can walk crawl..” and this is about them but significantly it came out when Korea was having a lot of political problems and massive protests and it’s on the same album as Spring Day (the most significant ballad they ever wrote and the MV has so many hidden messages about a national tragedy where hundreds of children died so do not go into it without being in a good head space the MV is amazing movie like but the explanation videos have really upset many reactors and some can’t even finish it because of their anger over the corruption that led to it). So to me there is strong significance that during political unrest when they refer to a tragedy (urging this time speaking about the Sewol Tragedy could get you blacklisted by the govt) they have a song quoting MLK with a message to the underdogs to not give up and keep fighting and the choreography very vividly shows people being shot down. Many many people will request Spring Day I say tackle it when you are further along. Enjoy the journey time enough later for it. Can’t wait for the lives love your commentary!

One of the things I really respect about them is that I never feel like a member is just ‘calling it in’ if they are not the featured voice. Not all songs fit all voices. Some songs just fit one member’s vocal range better than another, but all the members will work just as hard if they are in the front or the back. You see that, even more, in the live shows and practices.
Then in the MV, if one person has a smaller singing part, you tend not to notice because that member still has screen time that makes them shine. So, hats off the Big Hit for not making one member more important than another.
This is why I believe that each person will have a successful solo project. No one member has ever been more important than another in the production of the group’s art.

My favourite live performance of Dionysus is from the MMA 2019 award show. They were given a lot of time to just show-off their talent despite it being an award show and it's basically a BTS medley that spans some of their oldest songs to a few of the more modern (as at 2019) ones and it ends with Dionysus.
So if you want to try reacting that slice of awesomeness, I'd recommend you react to the other songs that they performed and the songs they used snippets of to get the full impact. The full songs they performed were 'Intro: Persona', 'Boy in Luv', 'Boy with Luv' (ft Halsey), 'Mikrokosmos'. Each of those songs other than Mikrokosmos has a music video that you can check out for a lyrics reaction and music video reaction. Then there are the songs they used snippets of for remixes in a special segment. They were 'No More Dream', 'Danger', 'I Need U', 'Fire', 'Save Me', and 'Fake Love' (they all have music videos).
This might seem daunting and a lot of work, but if you're looking for ideas for content and if or whenever you feel open for the (bigggg) challenge you can try exploring those songs/lyrics and music videos. You can treat it as a way to explore more of their eras of music, the styles they had over time and see different types of messages and videos they had over the near-decade. I think it would give you a big of their range (though not all of it) and you can treat yourself after to the well earned live performance which I personally feel is my fave from them of all time.
This is exactly the reason I haven't had him watch it yet. I wanted him to hear and see the other songs performed first and to see a live performance in a "normal" setting before seeing the MMA version so he could truly appreciate it. All are on the schedule though and coming soon! Thanks for the suggestion!

dionysus lyrics are talking about getting drunk in art and fame. the further you read about its lyrics the cooler it sounds like it has veryyy interesting lyrics. and if you see the album sequence, it is dionysus+ shadow+ black swan. this makes perfect sense because dionysus talks about getting drunk in their art and fame, shadow talks about the negative effects of achieving such stardom and getting too obsessive with your art and then black swan talks about the fear of losing the passion for their art

Hello there, I'm a few months late to this reaction, but I just found your channel. I'm so happy to see fellow metal heads and rockers falling on the BTS rabbit hole. I'm 34 years old and I remember a few years ago how much I refused the idea of listening to BTS. 3 years ago it all changed for me and I got interested to actually get to know them and their music, I haven't looked back since then. I realized how much they've worked to get to where they are right now, that they actually pay a lot of attention to every single song they put out, and not only that, but so far, I haven't seen/met any other group or band to have a sincere and really close relationship with their fans, to the point that they actually have several songs dedicated to them.
I've been a rocker for a long time, I was obsessed with INCUBUS for years. I went to a few of their concerts, and even tho I love their music, I don't feel that same connection as I do with each one of the members of BTS. They not only care about their music and their art, but also about their fans, and the message they want to put out. I'm happy to say that I'm ARMY now. My friends tease me a lot because of it but I'm hopping that sooner or later they'll be a bit more open to it. Anyways, I'm excited to check out more of your reactions, greetings from the north of México! :)
I have been a Stan of BTS for years. Not today for me is my favourite song of theirs by far. I can never listen to this enough. All their songs are masterpieces collectively and individually. But not today it hits me hard of all the times people try and use me and hold me. It's the perfect mantra NOT TODAY.
I think you would also love their song ON. It is comparable to the two watched here. The ON: Kenetic Manifesto Film is the video it premiered with (off MV came out later) and will give you similar hyped feelings... with a few surprises! 😁💜
