- A Denver mother is upset that neighbors called the police over Memorial Day weekend to shut down her sons' temporary lemonade stand, which the city says should have been allowed to stay in place that day.
How could anyone stop kids from having a lemonade stand. Ridiculous this is the biggest waste of public resources ever shame on the snitch and shame on the officers

Wow, kids paying taxes for selling lemonade!? I don't care whatever color, being a national tradition, I would think. I think laws should get questioned when they seem unnecessary in some cases. I think I'll look at that in detail... 🤔
How can anyone be so cruel to shut down some children selling lemonade ? I think the mom was doing a great job showing her children about having compassion and not just signing a check. They made the lemonade and stood outside selling it. It teaches working together, math skills, social skills , and actually going out there and doing it. So many times we see parents online asking family and friends to buy stuff their kids are selling or bring it to their work. They are actually doing it and the parent is there.
Who in the hell calls the cops on a lemonade stand!! Shame on them.

THERE are child abusers / murderers / DRUG abusers / unfortunately there are people who call the cops on a little kids lemonade stand these days/ what a shame our world has become.
The reporter said that they checked with the permit office and no permit required. Set the stand back up and tell the police, when they show up, to arrest and charge the creep who abused the 911 system. Turn it over to the DA and prosecute!!

The parents are supposed to file. Duh. It’s been that way since the ‘60s regardless of whether or not it’s been enforces.

Where I lived before some kids did exactly the same thing and the police weren't even called. They just drove by, stopped and issued citations to the 8, 9 and 11 year old girls. They were cited for selling victuals without a victualer's license, fundraising without a nonprofit donation solicitor's permit, operating a commercial kitchen without a health certificate, maintaining a commercial sign without a commercial sign permit. Since they were partners in the venture all three were cited and issued summons to appear in court. Since the illegal operation occurred with the full knowledge of the property owners (the parents) they too were issued summons to appear. They racked up a total of over $3600 in fines. There was of course public outrage over the whole matter. The mayor and police chief backed the officers and the magistrate found them guilty and gave the parents 30 days to pay up the fines. Not one official budged. Next election, the mayor was replaced by a new mayor who immediately fired the police chief and the officers who issued the summons. The magistrate was appointed for life so it took a few months to find just cause to have him impeached and removed from the bench. The laws then were changed to make exceptions for minor's engaged in fundraising activities and two years after the original incident the then 10, 11 and 13 year old girls held a new fund raising event and raised over $20,000 for the cause and the new mayor, and new chief of police and new magistrate all were among the first customers. It was big news locally but that was 25 years ago so unfortunately no video footage.

They should be ashamed of themselves. The Denver PD can't find the murderer of Jon Benet Ramsey, but they shut down a kids' lemonade stand, for Chrissake. Justice is done.

Man anyone who would call the police on little kids who was just trying to make a difference in this world. And also because they just happen to have a lemon aid stand wtch was not blocking any traffic. And on top of that shut them down. That's just not right on any level. They outta be a shame of them selfs. That should never happen to any little kid who is just trying to earn a little extra money. Between the neighbor who call the cops in the 1st place and the police who shut them down. They outta be in the hall of shame.
This is sad. Kids try to do good you get the cops called on you. Some people have too much time on their hands. Jealousy spells Karma. It always bits back when you're not looking -))

It takes a particularly pinched soul to hate on a child's lemonade stand. Can't fault the police, but sad for them to be used in such a cold and petty way.
Heard from my Stapleton resident friends that their are a bunch of busy body idiots in Stapleton who call the cops all the time about stupid infractions and that the cops are getting sick of it.

i can undestand the purpose of permits. It's to ensure health protocols and guarding from deceptive practice. The main thing that needs to happen is making permits more affordable, even free for something like this.
