I just love the way urban cockies have learnt to behave in the way humans expect of other humans, so as to win the hearts of the humans they want to interact with & get a feed from. & don't think they don't enjoy the interaction just as much as the food they're getting! They can get plenty of food from bins & other places, but they enjoy getting it from humans, cause they like the social interaction as much as the humans doing the feeding do :) I love watching them sitting there & waiting & taking their turn in collecting their little piece of food, not trying to take the whole bowl, just following the human society rules of etiquette :) Thanks for sharing this interaction with the world, it's so special, but something we in Australia so often take for granted & don't even realise how incredible it really is
Never be so stupid and arrogant as to suggest an animal 'should act like a human' in order to be rewarded. They ain't human, stupid! They can interact with us, but it's you, the human who has got to respect the way animals will interact with us. I have much respect for all animals and birds, and I observe them, learn thier language and way of interacting, even though it really isn't rocket science to try and work out. Just don't be so stupid and arrogant as to suggest animals have to 'act like humans' in order to get rewarded. They are under no obligation to. They just happen to be surrounded by humans and therefore take advantage of them and thier association with lots of food. That's all. If the human is respectful and nice towards them, they might form a bond with that human.
3:36 How cute isn’t it when this little wild cockatoo says «C’mon» to the man who is feeding them? Just listen carefully and you’ll hear it too!!! I had to go back a couple of times first, LOL… Love, love, love cockatoos!!!! So intelligent, so cheeky!!! ❤❤❤
People say not to feed wild birds, but with their natural habitats slowly shrinking and other wild weather elements, as well as bush fires, it’s nice to see someone helping them out.
00:32 So nice to see this gentlemen mildly scolding the odd impertinent one, and the next ones immediately picking up the lesson, kindly waiting for their turn, taking the seed and immediately making space for the others still waiting for their turn. Amazing.
Here in Ohio,to my great good fortune,I had a chickadee eat out of my hand, but Aussies..oh! Cockatoos, kookaburras and magpies all readily interact. So cool!
Such lovely birds.Full of personality. Our wildlife needs all the help it can get. What a lovely video.Gentle and loving. How I wish there was more of this in our world.
I could watch all day, I have a mob of galahs that come to my place for a feed everyday, along with their babies and have done for a number of years now
They are so lovely. You Australians are so blessed the cutest and smartest birds live in your country naturally. You don't need to buy one, you can just go out to your next park and make friends with them. 🥰
That was truly a lovely moment between the birds and the 'hand that feeds them'! Such patience on both sides, the giving and the taking of food. Marvellous to see. It reminded me of the first time I went to Australia, sadly many decades ago. I was in Canberra and I came out on my hotel balcony and looking up at the trees I saw the most glorious sight of brightly coloured parrots, cockatoos and, I guess, galahs. I will always remember the pink coloured cockatoos sitting alongside the white ones. There are so many beautiful creations in this world for the eye to see.
I doubt she hates you, probably just sees you as below her on the pecking order & is just keeping you in your place. There's lots of videos that teach how to behave with birds so as to make yourself the "boss bird" & improve relations. The absolute best resourses imo are from a channel called "flock talk"
Sit beside the cage and quietly read a book or just talk to your bird. Place a bit of banana at a certain time of day soon you’ll be able to get closer.
@@golddragon5757 agreed. Actually that channel I mentioned in my earlier post has a video on "first week with a rescue bird" where she does exactly that, but with her phone instead of book, but she sits on the floor, as close as the bird is comfortable with her being to the cage & just stays there for basically a week straight, so as to bond with the bird. She's got great info on what their body language & behaviours mean in terms of how close to get to them & how to really connect with them too, has the video going of her sitting on the floor, talking about everything she's actually looking at & how she's actually reacting to it to build that relationship. In this particular case, where the OP talks about their bird living like a Queen though, I suspect treats won't work, cause they're probably already giving them heaps of them & the bird just expecting it for nothing. Need to build a bond where the bird knows it has to behave in a certain way if it wants treats, that if it bites it's owner, it's not going to get treats for that for example
@@John-lp5xh doubtful! Spoilt pet birds rarely want to leave the good life! They're also rarely capable of surviving even a night or 2 in the wild. People should NEVER just release a pet bird & think it will experience anything but extreme fear, panic & a traumatic death!
This is so beautiful ❤️ I love birds...i just wish he had something to give it to the pigeons and other birdies there. I feed birds and I love love love them all ❤️💗🐦🐦🐦🐦💖💕💓
They all look nice and heartwarming here, but I've seen what a flock of those critters can do to a house. They can be unbelievably destructive as well.
Oh, the cockatoos are so beautiful! And it's awesome that they trust the man who's feeding them. He has a special gift. BTW - I have a friend who owns a cockatoo, but I'm going to say this anyhow: I think cockatoos, macaws and other large parrots are much happier in the wild. They have special needs, and it's a challenge even for the most avid bird lover to care for them as pets. To make one of these birds a pet is doing him/her a disservice and is maybe unintentionally cruel. But it's certainly OK to befriend the wild birds!
0:54 I suspect the "pushy" cockatoo is a female and feeding offspring. The female of this species is apparently larger than the male. They're smart birds, and this is so touching. They're much better off in the wild; they can live for at least 80 years, so really shouldn't be confined to a human domicile, unless that person intends to live longer than their "pet".
The best thing is let them have freedom with bonding,Ihave been feeding my blue jay and chickadee and two other kinds for few years ,they come to my balcony, and jay jay is the best, he looks for me through window for more and peak into it
God shows his love for us in many ways. This is one of them.
His compassion for these birds says so much about his character. Well done, sir.
Thank you!
He's just feeding birds, for God's sake. He hasn't renounced possession for the poor.
Or his boredom and loneliness.
If I was to move to Australia it would be for moments like this.
