    ABOUT WANDERING BIRD
In 2018, I quit my job as an air traffic controller to travel in a van. That's adulting, right?

I was shocked and very hurt when I left work because so called friends cut me off too. I’ve learnt that you can only truly rely on yourself ( other than my dog Coco ). A very good and insightful video, thanks Kat.

They were colleagues playing politics, not friends. Dogs are amazing! I have four and they give unconditional acceptance, loyalty and love. Could never live without dogs, but can manage quite easily without colleagues

Kat, you were very instrumental in our decision to sell up and go full time and honestly, it's been a steep learning curve as we've never even slept in a tent 😂 But it's been amazing and we wouldn't change it for the world 😁

Thanks Kat and some great tips noted. We are in the selling the house phase at the moment! I have been around van/caravan life since the late 80s so feel quite experienced. However finally taking the plunge to go full time has suddenly given me the fear. However adapt improvise and overcome. Thanks Dave

Thanks Kat, it can be overwhelming but all good advice… This year we took off for our first ever 2 month trip around Scotland and the Outer Hebrides and had an amazing time. I think quite a few of our friends were envious !! …. We took our dog with us and the joy of waking up in a different place, meeting some amazing people and seeing some breathtaking sights made it the best holiday we had ever had. Some days we only traveled 20 miles but for us it was the holiday of a lifetime and something we had been planning for a year. We wanted to stay there forever, until that is we approached the end of week 7 when we headed back over the border and back to reality. Our trip away was coming to an end as we approached our home and parked up. Yes it was nice to be back home but it left us with a tremendous thirst to go off and do lots more. After working out what we had spent, and by most standards, quite a frugal budget, the realisation of what long term living in a van can actually cost made us think that much more planning for next time will be important…. Fortunately we are both retired, so time in that sense is not important, although it is as you get older! … I hope your experiences and advice will help others to go and do, what can be an amazing part of someone’s life. Thanks for sharing Kat Xxx

Excellent video Kat, thankyou! Someone told me an important thing one day. It's great to be on your own but you need to fill up your social bottle. Meeting and interacting fills it up and allows you to be without for a while. You have to remember to keep it topped up :). Really loving your videos and website. Ian

Hi, have you thought of being more adventurous than just filming yourself in your motorhome? Maybe spend the most time filming what you are doing outside your motorhome and just doing a conclusion inside your motor home?

Thing is I watch so many of these van life videos about people having problems. Think about what you are going to need before you set off especially van equipment. Plan where you will be able to stop without too much grief and make sure you have some mechanical knowledge and a good breakdown service to back you up. Machines break so be prepared. Van life isn't cheap, its a choice of life style. If you want an easy life get a flat or a house.

For those that don’t have relatives to use their address then it becomes difficult to have an address where you are on the electoral roll, as DVLA will require this for your driving licence, and V5.
