😅Been following your brilliant videos. I live between Rathkeale and Ballingrane Station so I pass the road and rail works daily, just saw the tracks going through Ballingrane station a few hours ago. As a child I used to take the train from Ballingrane to Foynes to the annual Foynes Regatta. Thank you so much for your hard work and great videos. and there was me thinking it they were just going to be building the Adare Bypass. Is this going to be the N21 or the N69 post construction? and is it Dual Carriageway?
Talk about prejudicing the railway's viability even before it opens. I guess that the decision to proceed was based on the assumption that the population along the N 21 and the N 69 west of Foynes was to increase by 500,000. At least the land was cheap judging by the extravagant occupation width.

Good question, can the rail compete cost wise now that a motorway will connect Foynes . The Dublin to Cork motorway killed off freight traffic in Cork

It's really the other way round , they're extending the motorway to Foynes , just happens they have to bypass Adare in the process

Agreed, it's hard to see how a railway could compete with a new motorway. Openi g of the Cork Dublin motorway killed off all freight traffic in Cork
