This months update of the Foynes railway project showing some of the latest progress , such as the new track at Foynes and Roberstown , the new bridge at Adare and the ballasting of much of the already laid track.
(The Ballasting train was not captured at the request of Irish Rail project team). The project team will be bringing in a tamper machine to level and straighten the tracks from mid month on , and the laying of track from Adare to Limerick is to commence shortly.
Thanks for bringing us another update, you can certainly see the progress being made, great video 👏👏
This is brilliant, keep it going boys! We're making great track progress here!
Thanks! I think this one deserves double. Very well done!
Thanks Peter , your continued support is greatly appreciated . Lot of time and effort goes into these
@@dronehawk I can tell that these videos are very labor intense. Brilliant work.
I'm so interested in the Foynes project.
My best from Texas. 💙
Brilliant camera work, thanks for it.
Port of Foynes is one of the quiet gems in the country. Well done Íarnród Éireann, use the confidence of great work here to take on more, and enjoy getting it done.
Plenty of other abandoned lines to reopen if this proves a success
Great job .
They should establish a station loading /off-loading point for the Raheen Business Park. The room is there for this to happen..
Amazing video. Very questionable overtake by that truck at 07:50.....
YES indeed , well spotted . Double white lines if I'm not mistaken
@@dronehawkI think it is a temporary siding for the course of this project
I was out taking photos of the line this morning, they are working fast.
That’s big job and I really hope it’s a success and more can be reopened after seeing this line work 👍🏻🏴
Thanks!
Another quality video. Thanks for the upload.
The Yank (Scotia, New York next to CSX and Amtrak line) says thank you very much with your October update on the rail line.
Your welcome
Fantastic video
Reinstating Adare station for 2027 Ryder cup could reduce congestion significantly!
It's going to be a temporary station, isn't it?
Great video. 👍
Thank you Drone Hawke from New Zealand. Sadly we have never been able to visit your beautiful country on three trips to UK.
Your wider gauge is evident! As you may know ours is 1067mm (3ft-6in). Across the Tasman on the “West” Island there are three main gauges, but it has long been possible to travel Perth to Sydney on “Standard” gauge. Port Augusta to Alice Springs and Darwin is also Standard.
It looks like the original line was double track, but I notice several long loops for “crossings” as we call them here. The Borders railway in Scotland is only partially double track, and several commentators have remarked it should have been double from the start. I wonder if there is the intention to double the Foynes if traffic warrants in the future?
Keep up the good work, I have watched your other offerings, and like the fact there is no commentary.
?
Original Line was single track only , except for the first 5 km out of limerick where a second independent spur to the Irish cement plant , you can see it here (ruclips.net/video/lWbwcEQdB-c/видео.htmlsi=w0e5Toy9tbvc4lGs) ran parallel to it. The projected traffic for the line does not require a second track and anyways it would mean rebuilding all 3 river viaducts and also building a new underpass under the main road to foynes . I don't usually include commentary as I feel the video should speak for itself and the onscreen captions more than suffice . I am amazed that folks from as far afield as New Zealand and the US are watching these videos .I never envisioned they would have a worldwide audience . I hope you'll continue to watch until the project completion , expected some time quarter 2 next year . Greetings and best regards from Cork , Ireland
Nrxt time can we see what ships are loading/unloading on the quays of Foynes Port.. I wonder what bulk traffic is expected which will require the use of the railway.

Mostly Heavy Fuel Oil , Grain and General Cargo Vessels including wind turbine transports . Not sure if coal and Molasses still offload there
I was wondering the same- once in operation what products will be imported or exported that will be transported by freight train?
A great video but why have you the "Ardnacrusha" caption out by Huntsfield?

Is this not correct ? I don't know the area being from Cork . Railway passes under two bridges close together ?
@dronehawk I'm from the opposite side of the city but I am certain that there is only one Ardnacrusha and it is to the north of the city.
Google Maps also shows/showed an area called "Windsor" near me: it doesn't exist.
Please keep up the good work!
Map companies have I believe shown fictitious places on some maps in order to catch copyright infringers, just a thought.
@gordanmilne7034 I'll just have to put a disclaimer in the video descriptions stating any place name errors are the fault of Google maps.
Also will the trains be going straight up the country from Foynes? Or terminating in Colbert?
All depends on what freight they run . No one knows yet what traffic will utilise the line
Did they preserve that nice signal box at Foynes or was it destroyed ?
There's one visible on the right just before the station proper.
No it's still there , not sure if it will be reused , but it definitely won't be knocked
