I have a "Climb High" brand biner from the '90's that has been in hundreds of trees and still works like when it was new. It works like the Omega Pacific he showed. Super easy to use and has been a very good carabiner. Now I'm looking to buy some for recreation since I'm retired from tree climbing. I'll check those out.

Marvin,I think Ultra-O is the best lanyard biner, depending on config you might want to capture with a blue bandit or similar items.

Why not make a 7 action biner...looking forward to it

I hate the multi action 'bins'
they demand too much attention and a struggle to open them when you are distracted from doing what you need to be doing. Too fiddly and all seem to be different actions.

    What’s wrong with screw gates?

they dont auto-lock, and can be left unlocked on accident, plus if the screw gets turned down tight at all (And I mean just a tiny bit) its near impossible to un screw them if you have to

Nice info, does it matter if the gate opens up or down? Like is it possible to have a carabiner "upside down"?

Nope! That just means you need to rotate it. It's definitely important though to be conscious of which direction your carabiner opens, and how it's oriented when you're using it in a system.
Also worth noting - Auto-locking Rock Exotica carabiners use a motion opposite most other carabiners. Rather than pushing up and twisting, you push down and twist, but they still open the same direction.

TreeStuffdotcom okay awesome, thanks.. I bought a dmm ultra O from you guys and it's really nice, this response confirmed what I thought was right, as you push up (then twist).. Thanks again and for the flower seeds.. And as I'm new to arborist climbing I will make sure I practice on low hanging branches in my yard

Williams Ball Lock. NEVER twist gates.
